Chapter 29
It was a beautiful morning to match everyone's mood. Ananya and Aakash had finally found each other. They were finally together and everything was good. For Shefali and Devansh, they were both lost in their own little worlds. The first pangs of love, it was just that they didn't know it yet.
Ananya woke up with a small smile on their face. Had last night actually happened? Was it just a dream? She sincerely hoped not. If it was, she never wanted the dream to break. Just then her phone buzzed and she picked it up to read the text message. "Hey beautiful. Are you up?" Just that one little message, and Ananya's smile grew even wider. It wasn't a dream! It was real! Her heart beat started going just a little faster as she replied. "Yes, I'm up. How are you?" She didn't know what else to say? What were you meant to say in this situation? But she needn't have worried. In a few seconds she received a reply. "I'm amazing. What about you?" Ananya smiled at Aakash's quick reply. "I'm great. Can we meet up today?" She was dying to see him since yesterday. Even though it was just a few hours ago, it felt like ages. He phone beeped once again. "I was just going to ask the same thing. Should we meet in the evening around 7? I'll come to pick you up. By the way, is your Nanaji okay? I forgot to ask you yesterday."
Oh my god! She hadn't thought about that. Her Nanaji had arranged her marriage with someone else. And worse yet, she had agreed. Well, what else could she have done in that situation? At that moment in time, agreeing seemed to be the best option. But now...everything had changed. Would her Nanaji agree if she told him she didn't want to get married to the boy they had chosen for her? What if he didn't? Agreed that he had never forced her into something she didn't want to do, but she had never disagreed with something he said either. She didn't know what to do. Should she talk to him right now, or should she wait? She decided she would tell him immediately. She went out of her room and looked around the house.
But she couldn't find him anywhere. She looked in the kitchen and saw Shefali talking to someone on the phone. She went up and said hi. But Shefali's reaction was hilarious. She hadn't realised that Ananya was behind her and her phone nearly flew out of her hand when Ananya had suddenly started talking.
"Oh my god di. Why did you have to creep up on me?'
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to creep up on you. Who were you talking to?"
"Oh no one di. Anyways, you look worried. What happened?" Ananya frowned at Shefali's answer. She didn't miss the fact that Shefali avoided the question.
"I was just looking for Nanaji. Do you know where he is?"
"Yeah, he's gone to visit a relative. He probably won't be back till 8 in the night."
"Oh okay."
Ananya wandered back to her room and texted Aakash. "He is absolutely fine now. And 7 sounds good. I'll be waiting. " She would tell Aakash about her problem then. Hopefully he could help her.
Aakash was so nervous. Everything was set up as per his plan however he couldn't help but hope everything played out perfectly. He checked his watch and finally knocked on the door. Ananya opened the door and as soon as Aakash's eyes fell on her, he was mesmerised. She was wearing the most gorgeous black dress. It had intricate gold sequencing and net sleeves. It fitted her body tightly accentuating her curves till her legs, from where it flowed outwards. Her hair was tied up in a sophisticated bun with two strands framing her face. She looked absolutely gorgeous and perfect, like she had descended from heaven. Aakash was left stunned and couldn't even say anything.
Ananya looked at Aakash and was left speechless. He was looking devilishly handsome in a well-tailored suit. She noticed Aakash staring at her.
"Uhhh, Aakash? Hello?" She waved her hand in front of his face.
"Oh, yeah. I'm fine. You look amazing." Ananya blushed and looked down.
"You look really nice as well."
"Well, should we go?"
"Yeah, let's go."
Aakash took Ananya to a fine dining restaurant that was holding a ball for Valentine's Day which was day after tomorrow. Aakash and Ananya literally had a ball there. It was the most beautiful evening they had, in a crowd, yet in their own world. After a while, Aakash took Ananya to the terrace, which was beautifully decorated with flowers and candles. Ananya was surprised at this setup. She didn't know what was going on and turned to look at Aakash to find him on his knee holding up a stunning ring, with a diamond studded in the middle of two entwining hearts. Ananya was taken aback and gasped.
"The first time I saw you, I could never have imagined that we would be here today. But now, I can't imagine anyone else but you. You inspire me every day to be a better person. I want to wake up every day with you by my side, until I'm old and my hair is grey. Will you be by my side for ever and ever? Will you marry me?"
Ananya had tears in her eyes. She couldn't believe all this was happening to her. It was the most memorable moment in her life. She didn't know how to respond.
"Yes...yes!" Aakash's face lit up as he took her hand and slipped the ring on her ring finger, the finger which was connected directly to the heart. He got up and hugged her with all his passion. This moment would go down in history for them, the day it became official! They were going to get married! Just then Aakash spoke again.
"Hey, I've got another surprise."
Another surprise? What was this now? Wasn't this a surprise enough? Suddenly, her whole family appeared in front of her, giving her another shock. She didn't understand how Aakash had pulled all this off. Just then her Nanaji came to her and hugged her.
"I am so sorry beta. I didn't know your happiness lay somewhere else. I am sorry."
"Please don't say that Nanaji. I am just glad that you all are here."
Ananya went and hugger her mother and Shefali before coming back to Aakash.
"How did you manage all of this?"
"I can do anything for you my Miss Rulebook."
Ananya smiled at him. This was just amazing! Never in her whole life would she forget this starry, breathtaking night. She felt tears in her eyes once again. She looked at her family, getting along with Aakash and knew that he was the best thing that ever happened to her. Aakash caught her eye and grinned at her.
Everything was right in the world.
