There were gun shots everywhere, people were panicking and running to all the exits, when someone grabbed Ananya and pulled her behind a counter.
"Don't move. Don't try anything smart. I know where your family lives. If you try anything, you won't be seeing them alive again." She was facing away from the man, and her phone had fallen down.
She felt something cold pressed against her head.
That was enough for Ananya to stop struggling. She was willing to give up her life but she would never let anything happen to her family, no matter what.
"What do you want from me? I don't have a lot of money on me right now, but I will give you everything I have. Just let me go" she pleaded.
A sound escaped from the man, something that sounded like a laugh, yet so hollow, that it sent shivers down her spine.
"Oh, we don't want money. We just need you. You, sweetheart, are the main part of our plan." She could hear the glee in his voice, which made her heart beat faster. What did he mean when he said plan?' And why was she the main part?
"I don't get what-" she started but before she could finish, she felt the gun crack against her skull, and she let the darkness cover her.
Aakash was still packing at the hotel when he received the call.
"There has been a shooting at the airport. No one got hurt. Most people managed to escape, but we think that the gunman took one person with him."
"Who?"
"Ananya Rawat"
That was all the inspiration needed. In a few seconds he was out of the hotel room and rushing towards his car, when Natasha came and stopped him.
"Hey Aakash. Where are you rushing off to?"
"Haven't you heard? There was a shooting at Jaipur Airport. I'm going there to help out." he answered, clearly frustrated.
"Yes, of course I heard. But now the situation is under control. All the people were evacuated. You don't need to be there. Come, let's go for a coffee together. I really need that, after last
night."
"I can't believe you Natasha. There people have been shot at and here you are thinking about coffee?" he shouted at her. "Just because nobody you knew was taken-." Aakash muttered under his breath.
"What?" she asked, clearly missing whatever he had just said.
"Look never mind. I have to go there okay. We can talk later."
And with that Aakash got into his car and drove off. All he could think was about how he needed to reach Ananya and save her before it was too late. He couldn't lose another person that was close to him. Wait, where did that thought come from? Ananya, close to him? He shook his head as if shaking the thought off. He would deal with these thoughts later. Right now, only one thing mattered.
Chapter 3
28 October 2014- 09:00
He couldn't believe how all of this happened. And why? Why would someone go to all of this trouble to just kidnap one person? His phone started ringing, breaking his train of thought. He didn't recognise the number, so he picked the phone up and put it on speaker. "Hello?"
"Hi, is this Captain Aakash?"
"Yes, this is Aakash. May I know who is speaking?"
"My name is Shefali. I'm..." the voice trailed off and Aakash could hear some sniffling, "I'm first officer Ananya Rawat's sister. I got your number from Megha."
"Yes Shefali."
"Actually, I was talking to di in the morning today, and suddenly I heard sounds of gunshots. I...I think di's phone fell down. But it was still on." Shefali's voice quivered, but she continued. "I heard a man's voice, and everything he said to di. I think he was the one who kidnapped her." Shefali whispered. She couldn't hold it in any longer and broke down. "Please, please help us. We don't know what to do or who to call. We are all helpless. Please." she pleaded, sobbing on the phone.
"Shefali, don't worry. I am going to the airport right now to get more information. As soon as I find out something, I will call you, okay? Wait, could you do me a favour? Can you write down what the man said to your di and send it to me?"
"I actually recorded the conversation. When I realised what was going on, I just thought that maybe it could help, so I..."
"That's really good news." Aakash was clearly relieved. Something was finally happening. "Can you send me the recording as soon as possible? And thank you for trusting me enough to call me. Don't worry. Your di will be back soon. I will make sure of that."
Aakash ran into the airport to see that the whole place had been cordoned off, yet people were walking through the area. He was outraged at this. How could the police allow the general public walk through a crime scene? What if some important clues were destroyed by these careless people? He immediately went looking for the person in charge, and he found him talking on his mobile, looking as if everything was good with the world.
"Excuse me." The person didn't turn around. "Excuse me. I'm talking to you." The man looked at him, then looked away and continued talking. "Look mister, I really need some answers right now." The person was finally annoyed enough and cut the phone.
"And why would you need some answers, young man?"
"My friend is the lady who got kidnapped, Ananya Rawat. I wanted to look at the crime scene."
"And why do you think we would let you do that? Do you think that the police are incapable of doing their job? Is that why you are here? You youngsters believe that you know better than everyone else. You just come up here and think you can tell us how to do our job?"
"No sir that is not what I think. I just think that I could be of some use to you."
"And who exactly are you?"
"My name is Aakash Singhania, and I'm a senior officer at the Defence Intelligence Agency."
Wow... I finally read both the parts together... Loved how you are building the suspense, so Aakash is actually from the defense intelligence unit...
Looking fwd for your next update
