PAAR

(The other side of river)

-The Beginning-

The sound of water flow, eternal and unchanged, hit her ear as she stood so close to edge. Her dark, unreadable, eyes were fixed towards the snow capped high mountain peaks which were proudly shinning in the moonlight. It seemed like she was challenging those lifeless, yet huge and undefeated mountain that were standing tall for ages on the barrier of the landmass, surrounded by oceans on the other three sides.

It seemed like that the mountains got offended by the challenging gazes of the mere human girl and send an arrow of chilled icy wind towards her. The wind crashed on her face and waved through her long curly fringes mercilessly. The touch of that icy wind was razor sharp but still it couldn't shake the hard lines of her face or even shoo of the determination of those eyes.

"Kumari!! Her lady companion called with doubtful voice from her side. The young woman moved her eyes and looked towards the uncertain face of her companion.

"There is still time... I request you to think once again.. Whatever you are going to do is reckless... You are literally going inside lion's den in empty hands. there was a hidden fear in her voice.

Her lips curved into a proud and confident smirk which gave the answer to the fear of other woman who just abandoned a breath of in hopeless manner. She was well known to the instinct of her friend from childhood and she knew that she was not going to listen to anyone and fulfill her determination.

"Kumari it's not a matter of joke!!..You know that they are our sworn enemy... I am afraid that they are going to kill you as soon as they are going to find you... her voice shook in ultimate fear as she looked towards those high snow capped peaks. For all those years those mountains had given them protection from the enemies outside. Never in their dream had they thought that someday danger would approach to them from the other side of the mountain.

"Venilla!!.. the determined voice called for her and Venilla looked towards her side. She found the determined hard face twitched towards her and those hard gazes still hold a little soft look.

"Take care of appa!!... that was the last word from her mouth before she jumped inside the deep gorge underneath without wasting a moment. A huge scream came out from Venilla's face and reflected through the mountains. The water of Sindhu flows through the deep gorge in that area of Himalayan mountain range. Venilla expectantly looked inside the black deep gorge to hear any sound of hope but even the sound of river couldn't be heard from such height. Only the reflection of her scream echoing and somehow taunting her back!! She felt suffocated in fear and anticipation, causing her to crush on her feet while her fearful eyes overflowed with tears.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well people out there.. I am here with my little piece in the forum.πŸ˜›. I am not at all that good in writing stuffs but tried something and hope it at least readable..πŸ˜†... Great start.
I find it difficult to show action through writing and you have done that so seamlessly. I could picture each line in my head. The 'mountain throwing an arrow of icy wind' etc was beautiful. You could sense the female's (DS, I am assuming) strength of character here, without having to explain it.

Waiting to read more. :)

PAAR

(The other side of river)

-The blood ridden legacy-

This is the Tell of the time when the earth was greener, the air was purer and the sun glows brighter above. The foot prints of newly born human kind didn't start to acquire each and every place residing in the mother earth. They had just started to explore around searching for new places, new home while some groups of human had already established new civilization in some corners of earth.

Everything was beautiful, like a newborn baby. Mother earth was smiling looking at her most amazing creation till date, the well defined creatures who were supposed to be the most intelligent of all, with the grey matter in their brain cell; they had power to conquer the world.

And might be that was the main reason of danger aligning on their future fate which they were unknown of, the superiority of human kind above all the others!!

And as the baby grew up, the purity was marred by the darkness in mind. Innocence was corrupted by the ruthless struggles of life. The pure water of rivers which delivered the life to the cities, founded on its soars, got blood drenched with the blood of same people whom she nurtured for all these years. The dumb water couldn't say anything but see the destruction like the speechless mother watching their infant's death.

That was another blood ridden evening while the last red light of sun was enhancing the red color of river Sindhu impured the bloodshed on the huge war between two clans. At one side, there were the people of founded civilization who were hell bent to save their land from outsiders and on the other side, the huge vagabond warrior clans who were searching for their home and a place where they could live. Being vagabond, they had travel through the far draught stuck lands, deprived of waters, foods only listening to the legends of that land where nature had abundant mercy, the land with water, with ploughable landmass, with the shed of green trees from the scorching sun and more over anything... Peace!!..

And for that they were ready to do anything. The desperate vagabonds and the people who live in the Sindhu soars were ready to behead each other's head in searching for PEACE!!...

No one of them thought of coming in a compromising way, a way out from the devastating war, from bloodshed. The people from the land of Sindhu soars didn't agree to share their lands with those vagabonds and even those warrior clans took it as the demeaning of their pride to live on mercy of those people hence resulting the bloodshed and loss of lives. Even after the huge loss from both sides they were still standing confronting each other where the Sindhu River flowing between them like eternal barrier.

They couldn't set their feet on the other side of river to acquire the land of their dreams, the land for which they travelled half of the world.

They couldn't drive away the outsider enemy who had come as the threat to their 1000 years old civilization, from the other side of river.

They both were standing in the same place where they were before the war, looking each to ward's each other with hatred, anger which couldn't be deemed by the tiredness, wounds and oozing bloods.

The chief Indra looked towards Mahishi, the chieftain of the enemy clan, standing on the other side of river like the fierce warrior. Indra had to admit in his mind that even after fighting several warriors and defeating them he would never thought that someday he had to face a woman in battle front and that particular woman would break all his age old beliefs about woman. Indra was well aware about the matriarchal society of their enemy. She thought it would be easier than ever to defeat the clan who was lead by weak women. It was not like that Indra didn't respect women. In fact they were taught from their childhood to respect woman. They are the creator of new life, but the same society also taught him about the superiority of men over woman. So he always had the mind setting that woman could never be equal to man.

But his all beliefs were vanquished when he saw their queen Mahishi leading their army in war with all the expertise of a true brave warrior who knew all the tactics of war field also. True to say all of their armies were totally stunned seeing the women in other armies who were not less in bravery and war tactics. Taking the opportunity of their shock those women army attacked them with all their power causing severe affect in their army and also causing them to come out of their shock state. Also their ego was a bit hurt seeing the less superior women taking over them. With the anger of insult they stroke back mercilessly on them, causing the huge war which lasted for a long weak. At a point, Indra's army was in lead and at the very next day Mahishi's army took over them. All in all no one could vanquish the other totally. At a moment Indra confronted Mahishi and had a one o one battle with her also. Seeing her bravery, presence of mind, expertise in war tactics Indra couldn't stop admiring his enemy queen though he hated to admit that. Both were severely injured in the war. Their weapons were moving like lightning. The warrior's of enemy clans were witnessing that amusing war between two strongest warriors of all time forgetting their condition. At a time, only Indra and Mahisha were seen fighting with each other in the whole battle ground while the others were just awed looking at them. Their weapons were clashing with each other making a perfect sound rather than some destruction, kissing each other's bloods wounding their skins and their eyes, focused on each other, alarmed, full of hatred for enemies, amused by each other's warrior skills and admiring deeply, were interacting in their own language.

At the end of the day, both of enemy chief's, severely injured, resting in their own camp could only think about their dwells and their desperate need to defeat other which both of them were unable to do. Even indulging into the war of eternal enmity, they couldn't stop admiring each other's warrior expertise. The unknown language their eyes were speaking to each other beyond the wall of their hatred, their own identity of being part of enemy clans.

Dadhichi, the second in command in Indra's army, came forward to talk with their chief while Indra was busy observing queen Mahishi still standing tall on the other side of sindhu like the fierce lioness with her army. She was also severely wounded by the war. Her long entangles curls were flowing around her face like serpents in the wind, her calm but alarmed eyes were fixed towards him as well and her hands were holding her weapon sternly, ready for another attack. Her armor was beholding her perfect body structure. Her dark skin was literally glowing like gold in the evening sun and the wound's looked like the proud ornaments of her bravery on them. Indra felt the chill in his spines and it suddenly felt tough to hold the grudge of enmity. A slight different feeling was developing in him for the fierce brave warrior queen of Sapta Sindhu. He had to admit that he had never met a warrior in his life equal to him in all aspect and never in his dream he thought the person to be a young woman from the enemy clan. More than Mahishi's weapon her piercing eyes wounded him in all the battles. She was not like the doormat woman from their society. She was wild, fearless, untamed lioness, a bird which couldn't be caged and charming in her own way. Indra was silently observing the lady and her silent eyes and trying to detect even if she was having weird thoughts like him as well. Dadhichi was informing about the severe affect the war had caused their clans and he afraid that of the war continued like that there was less chance for them to win. People were tired, severely wounded and wanted to go back home as soon as possible. Indra listened to him while his eyes were fixed towards the other side. He noticed that the army general of Mahishi's clan was also having some discussion with her. As their conversation with respected generals finished, Indra and Mahishi looked towards each other with silent eyes and forwarded their steps. It felt like some magnets were pulling each other and their eyes never shifted from others as they walked silently. It was only when they felt the water of Sindhu drenching their ankles. With realization they understood that they had stepped inside the flowing water of Sindhu, the river which had drawn the barrier between them for for eternity. They silently looked towards each other for a while as if trying to form a sentence and start a formal conversation.

It took them several moments but finally Indra bowed his in respect to the queen and queen answered back bowing as well.

"It seems like my people are unable to continue the war further...Indra uttered slowly looking straight towards Mahishi. "they are severely wounded by your brave woman army.

A sarcastic but delighted smirk appeared on Mahishi's lip, "Your people didn't even show a single mercy on us as well... They chopped the heads of us more swiftly than our peasant chopped the crops. She informed. Even in that grave serious moment a spark flashed in their eyes seeing each others wittiness.

"Hence we decided to back our foot!!... Indra uttered, "But remember this.. we will come back... if not us.. then our future raise... We will come back to gain the land destined for us.

Mahishi's charming and dangerous smile increased even more, "And we will be here as well, on this side of river... protecting our land... Not just us... but our children... Our grand children... still a single one of Sapta Sindhu would be alive, you wouldn't be able to set your foot in this side.

Her smile reflected on his face as well. They clearly understood that it was not the end, it was just beginning of the prolonged war that would continue within their people for centuries, for ages!! The marred light of twilight reflected on their face which enhanced the hidden sadness as they slowly backed off their feet still looking straight towards each other's eyes. They clearly understood the language their heart trying to speak through their eyes but they knew very well that they could never ever express those openly. Just like the two sides of river, looking towards each other, parted by the deep water for eternity, they could never meet. They had the huge responsibility to hold the honor of their clan in their shoulder, to lead their people to the greater prosperity and they couldn't let that down for the sudden wave that fluttered their heart in the battlefield, beating on the each sound of their weapon kissing each other. They just couldn't give up and let them fall for each other. With the hidden sad glint in their eyes, which was so vividly visible, they looked away from each other and walked to their people for the announcement of other's surrender. They both felt a deep atche in their heart but they never looked back or their step stumbled. The fierce warrior queen and the brave warm blooded clan leader had been deeply enacted into each other's heart and they had to lead their life with that pain. The Sindhu River, flowing in the middle of them witnessed their silent good bye to each other like the dumb witness.

Another 1000 years passed and some more gallons of water ran through Sindhu. The story of brave warrior Indra and Mahishi had turned into legends by the people of their respective clans and they had started considering them as their almighty. Aryan's had placed Indra in the place of their deity where Dravidian's worshiped their Mahishi devi and believed that she would protect them from every danger. In all those years Aryas had lived with the tell of Sapta sindhu, the land which their almighty Indra had chosen for them and grew up with the dream to conquer the land one day. The ruthlessness of Dravidian in the war had boiled their blood and they all were more than ready for revenge. With determine in their eyes, Aryan people again set their journey to acquire Sapta Sindhu and that time with more prominent plans and huge number of armed force. They all gathered on the other side of Himalaya. The Sindhu was ready to witness another heartfelt story that time...

The old fellow Mareech took a deep breath as he was tired of long speech and the people who were listening to the story laughed loudly as Mareech stopped.

"Useless lads!! Mareech scowled with anger. "Is it Aryan's way to insult an old man and laugh on the great story of their ancestors?!!

"Ohh Marech!! Keep your imaginative story to yourself... a young lad from the front row, "Our almighty Indradev was attracted by a Dravidian queen?!! Is it written in our face that we are fools'? Marrech you seriously believe we will belief in all this rubbish?!!

"Rubish?!!! Mareech lifted his stick in anger and the young fellows rushed away from the place showing thumbs to mareech.

"Bunch of idiots!! Mareech said as they looked towards young Aryans rushing away, "Couldn't they understand that I was warning them by the story... We Aryan and Dravidian's are enemy of a kind... The kind which got attracted towards each other.. We are different and even similar in odd way... Our great almighty Indra couldn't even hold himself to fall for Dravidian queen and we are beholding his legacy in our blood!!... Be aware!!... Be aware!!! mareech said with slight fear in his eyes as he noticed the loud emerging on the horizon of sky, from the side where Sapta Sindhu was situated. He saw the cloud slowly running towards them. His heart filled with the fear of unknown future.
