It is work as usual for most of the Hindi general entertainment channels, finally. With the differences between the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the producers resolved, the Hindi GECs began airing fresh content from December 1, 2008. TAM Media Research's numbers for week 49, which is the first week of all fresh content, are here. The irregular ups and downs that the ratings were seeing for the past month are steady once again.
For the target C&S 4+ in the Hindi speaking markets, Star Plus is the genre leader with 263 GRPs. Colors has cornered 213 GRPs, while Zee TV has 189 GRPs. Following these in the next rung – Sony has 82 GRPs, Star One at 73, and NDTV Imagine is at 62 GRPs. Sahara One has clocked in 46 GRPs. SAB has 45 GRPs, which is one of the highest numbers that the channel has seen in recent times, 9X at 44 GRPs has seen one of its lowest numbers in recent times.
The two launches of the week that have begun on a good note are 'Uttaran' on Colors, which has given average TRP of 3.09. Star Plus' 'Aap Ki Kacheri' had an average opening rating of 3.32. The other show on Colors – 'Jaane Kyua Baat Hui' – has opened on an average weekly rating of 1 plus. 'Uttaran' and 'Jaane...' replace 'Bigg Boss' in the 10.00 pm slot.
With the exception of 9X, it is ratings war as usual for the Hindi GECs. As is known, 9X is still airing repeat content and has as yet not begun the shooting of any fresh episodes of its existing shows. The channel has claimed that it is revisiting its programming strategy, and that until a decision on that is fructified, the channel would not be shooting.
