Shweta makes a grand comeback - Article

Yes, that is our very own Shweta Tiwari!

Gone are the mile-long sarees and the sindoor and long mangalsutra she sported as Prerna of Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Enter flat abs, shorts and bikini tops! Ask Shweta if it's a deliberate attempt to change her image now that she's on the verge of signing some Bollywood films and she denies the charge. "There's no attempt of that sort at all," she says, "I have been doing photo shoots like this earlier too but yes, people are not used to seeing me like this." The actress adds that she loved her character in the soap that made her a familiar face on the small screen but she admits, that she does not want to get stuck with an image. "In case I get glam roles in films which are good, I will take them up," she says.

Shweta does not like being asked personal questions. So any questions about husband Raja Chowdhary go unanswered. The actress, who filed a case of domestic violence against him last year, says that her state of mind currently is 'relaxed'. "My daughter's very supportive, I'm earning well and I'm happy with my life," she says. Prod her some more and she adds, "I hope Raja does well and I wish him all the best."

Okay, so that's that. Shweta would rather talk about her work and why not, she's got a lot going for her once more in life professionally. "I'm playing a negative character in Ajeeb on 9X. It's a guest appearance but I found it very interesting as the character was so negative and I love playing negative characters," she says.

Shweta has played negative characters early in her career but nothing in the recent past. Why's that? "Nobody calls me to play negative characters!" she laments and then laughs, "I think I can play them well because I have big eyes!" Apart from this show, Shweta can also be seen judging the dance reality show Aaja Maahi Vey and the actress says she realises how difficult the job of a judge is. "I know now what it looks like from here on the judge's seat but since I was a contestant in Nach Baliye, I also know what the contestants on this show are going through," she adds.

The last that one saw Shweta doing a full-fledged soap on the small screen was Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Shweta says she really needed a breather. "After seven years of getting up every morning and heading to work, I wanted to relax a bit. But since acting is what I do, I keep doing cameos on and off," she says. She reveals that there are a couple of negotiations going on though, for soaps as well as for Bollywood, "but it's too early to talk about them".
