Part One

A dark thunderous night. Rain pouring mercilessly from the skies. Thunders lighting up the view for a fraction of a second. A lone car was moving down the road with only a driver and the owner of the car. He kept on checking his watch from time to time as it felt that the time had halted. He was enroute to his house from the airport after a tiresome flight.

His car was progressing through the dark forest road when the driver spotted something rather someone and slammed the brakes hard. He was startled and he looked at the direction the driver pointed. The view that he saw in front of him made him rush out of the car. The driver followed him with an umbrella in his hand.

A girl, probably in her mid-twenties, was lying unconscious on the road. He checked her pulse which was very light. On touching her forehead, he felt his hand burn. She had very high fever. Her face was pale and it didn't require any special knowledge for him to confer that she hadn't eaten well for the past couple of days. He decided to get her treated and so lifted her up and carried her to the car. The driver picked up the bag which was next to her and kept it in the dickey.

Rey's POV:

The moment I saw her I felt bad seeing her condition. I knew she needed to be treated and so I was going to take her to the hospital. But something about her was telling me not to. I felt like I knew her. Her face resembled her. But I wiped that thought away. I knew I had to get over her. I can't keep seeing her face in every girl I meet.

Bringing back the control over my mind I lifted her up and went to my car. I made her sit on the backseat and sat next to her. She was still unconscious with her head supported on my shoulder. I asked the driver to put on the heater. He did so and he also put on the radio.

"Ek ladki bhigi bhagi si
Soti raaton mein jaagi si
Mili ek ajnabi se
Koyi aage na peeche
Tum hi kaho ye koyi baat hai.."

The song brought back all memories of her. Why wouldn't it? We both did have fond memories related to this song..

'Taani tum kahan ho? Mein thak gaya hoon tumhe dhundte dhundte. I know tum kahin aas paas hi ho, bas mujhse chup rahi ho. God please mujhe meri Taani se milwa do.'

I looked over to my side and saw the girl stirring. The heater did work, she is getting back her consciousness. I asked the driver to drive fast and called the doctor and told him to come home as soon as possible.

When I reached home I saw the doctor waiting for me to come. I was very grateful to him as he agreed to come on such a short notice. I took her to the guest room and asked one of the maids to get her into some dry clothes. I instructed the servants to put her clothes in the laundry and dry them soon and also to cook something light for us. The maid finished dressing her up and I along with the doctor went to check her.

The doctor examined her and gave me some medicines. He assured me that there is nothing to worry about and she'll be fine soon. She just needed to eat and rest well. I thanked the doctor and he left. I went to my room and freshened up. After that was done I again came to the guest room to check on her. I don't know why but I felt I was getting pulled towards her, which was strange as till date the only girl whom I loved and still love is Taani.

Taani and I studied in the same school. We were the best of enemies who later on became the best of friends. I loved her from the bottom of my heart and I knew she did too. But on the day when I was to confess it to her she left me alone and went away somewhere. I was hell angry on her for leaving without saying anything. Later when I found out the reason of her disappearance, I was shocked beyond zenith. I kept searching for her and still am. I know she is here somewhere and I am sure to find her one day.

Coming back to this girl, her face resembled Taani. But I can't be sure as in every girl I meet I try and find my love, my Taani. I looked at her and saw the same innocence which used to be on Taani's face. Dude get a grip! I shook my head and continued doing my work. After a while, I heard some shuffling and saw her direction. She had woken up and was looking here and there trying to understand where she was. Suddenly she jerked up with slight traces of sweat on her forehead. She saw me and whispered something. I don't know whether I heard it right but from her lip movements I could make out that she said 'Rey', which I felt weird. How does she know my name, well why wouldn't she, after all I am amongst those well-known rich boys in town.

Girl's POV:

I stirred in my sleep and woke up on something soft. I looked around and found myself on a bed in one of the richest looking rooms. I tried to remember what happened and got some flashbacks of how I left my house and how I was stranded in the middle of the road. I very well remember some manly figure lifting me up and placing me inside his car. I began to panic. I had heard of stories where these rich bas***ds hire girls and use them for their own pleasure. I looked down at myself and found myself to be dressed in some dry clothes which were certainly not mine. This made me panic further. I jerked up and sat on the bed only to be faced to the person whom I never wanted to meet ever in my life. I never wanted him to know my truth. Why did he have to come to rescue me? Why couldn't he leave me stranded on that road to die? Why? Sadly, I knew the answers to these questions. He was Reyansh Singhania after all! How could he be ruthless? I let out a sigh and unknowingly his name escaped from my mouth.

I saw him furrow his brows and try to register what I just said but I quickly composed myself and gave him no clue to find it out. I saw him coming towards me and I couldn't help but adore his perfectly sculpted features. He looked even more handsome now. He had a light smile plastered on his face which made me worry thinking that he found out who I really am.

"Don't worry, meine tumhare saath kuch galath nahi kiya hai" he said still smiling.

'Tum kabhi kuch galath kar hi nahi sakte.'

I didn't know what to reply so I just smiled back.

The servant came into the room with some food. He arranged it for us on the side table and left. Rey looked at me and then at the table. I understood what he meant but I didn't feel like eating anything.

"Chalo kuch kha lo, uske baad dawayi bhi leni hai tumhe" he gestured me to follow him.

"Mujhe bhook nahi hai" I replied.

He jerked his head to my side. See this is what I feared. Even if he didn't recognize me by my face he did recognize my voice. Boy he does have a very sharp memory! I looked here and there and avoided any eye contact with him.

"Mein tumhe puch nahi raha hoon bata raha hoon. Doctor ne kaha hai ki khali pait dawayi nahi leni hai. So it's better tum chup chap khana kha lo!"

Typical Rey! How much I missed this side of his. I love how he gets all angry when he is saying the right thing and the other person opposes him. I felt like pulling his cheeks just like before but had to control myself.

We both ate in silence. He was constantly trying to start a conversation but was stopping midway. Weird. After we were done eating he asked me.

"So.. what is your name?"

"Taani" I replied and his eyes widened. I immediately continued, "Taniya".

I gave him a weak smile and he eyed me raising his eyebrow. Another habit of his! I sighed inwardly and got up.

"Taniya.." he called and I stopped midway.

"Hmm.."

"Mind if I ask you something?"

"Haan pucho.."

Rey's POV:

"Tum wahan road pe aise.. I mean.." I hesitated asking but she understood what I wanted to ask as she paled hearing my question.

I felt guilty as she had to remember something bitter all because of me, but I had no choice. I had to know why she was stranded in the middle of the night.

She looked at me and gulped audibly. She cleared her throat numerous times and then spoke up something which I least expected.

"Thank you for helping me. But mere liye afsos jatane ki jarurat nahi hai. Agar tum nahi chahate mein yahan ruku toh theek hai mein abhi nikal jaati hoon." Saying so she turned towards the door of the room.

"Wait" I immediately stopped her.

What's with girls behaving so weird? She too used to behave the same when I used to fake pity on her when she used to forget doing her homework. Keeping her thoughts aside I went forward to handle this girl who, I still can't understand why, is the same in behavior as Taani. Even her tone is reminding me of Taani. What is wrong with me?

"Listen Taani" I spoke out still in thoughts of Taani and she widened her eyes at me.

I could see a tinge of fear in her eyes. Fear? Why was she afraid? Was she afraid of me? I hope she hasn't mistaken me as some cheap person.

"Taniya, tum yahin ruk jao. Mausam bohot kharab hai, tum aur beemar pad jaogi. And please mujhe koi galath insaan mat samajna. Mein bas insaaniyat ke naate tumhari help kar raha hoon and I assure you ki tum yahan safe ho" I hope I cleared it out and she doesn't misunderstand me.

I saw her facing away from me as if trying to hide something. I saw her hands move up to her face and wiping off what I assume were tears. Now why is she crying? Girls! I swear we boys will never understand a girl even if we spend our whole lifetime trying to.

I never understood.. See I'm going there again. I guess I need some sleep. Also I need to find Taani soon before I turn insane. With this thought I went to my room and slept peacefully with a determination of finding my love soon.
