Khushi Singh Raizada:
Khushi was an orphan from the age of 10. She had been legally adopted by her maternal aunt, Garima who had married a widower, Shashi Gupta with a child, Payal Gupta. She was very beautiful and her beauty had got her into a big trouble when a guy named Shyam Jha had come asking for her hand in marriage. Her parents had accepted thinking he was a nice guy yet on the night of her engagement with Shyam, she found out he was a married man and broke off with him. It didn’t stop there though, for Shyam’s wife had a brother, 28 year old, Arnav Singh Raizada who was very rich and had got into his mind that Khushi was a homewrecker and decided to teach her a lesson. He had proposed her for marriage one day and threatened to publish false news about her in case she declined his proposal. Her aunt who brought her up, scared about her family’s reputation had begged her to accept his proposal. Thus, at the young age of 19, she had stopped her studies and gotten into the marriage to save her family from humiliation. Her husband was cruel to her initially, yet one day 2 years later, when the truth had finally come out he had fallen for her. Khushi had seen her life was slowly picking up. Even though her husband had never apologised to her or told her he loved her, they were taking baby steps to make the marriage work yet she was unhappy for she was always the young immature girl to him and he lost no opportunity in putting her down. Story begins here.
Payal Singh Raizada:
Payal was Shashi’s daughter, Khushi’s step sister yet she loved her like her own blood. When Khushi had come home with Garima at the young age of 10, she being elder to her by 4 years, had taken her into her wing and fended off all troubles from her. She had been her protecter. Often times she had been the one to sing lullaby, chase away her fears and help her stand and face her fears. Garima might have been the one who adopted Khushi but Payal was the one who brought her up. Two times she had failed to protect her, her life had turned upside down. She was offered a scholarship to study in Guildhall School of music and Drama, London at the young age of 18 and she had gone. Something she still regretted, for five years later, when she had come back, she had found Khushi’s life in a mess. She was not informed of her arranged engagement to Shyam nor the humiliation that followed it. All the time she had only heard that they were all fine. She had been so occupied with her studies that she had not digged in deeper when she had not heard from Khushi for more than 6 months. She deeply regretted it and buried her dreams and wishes, her sole mission now only to somehow protect her sister. She researched the Raizada family and found that Arnav had an unmarried brother, the 27 year old Aakash Singh Raizada. She had proposed Aakash and married him hoping being closer to her sister she would be able to protect her. The marriage was loveless from her side and she had not tried to work to build the marriage, Aakash had tried for sometime and had given up. Now they pretended to be a couple in front of the elders but inside they were still strangers. To her dismay Khushi still seemed distant and she was unable to get through her. Story begins here.
Kalpana Vittal Jadhav:
Kalpana was Kamala and Vittal’s daughter. Kamala was a housemaid in th Kapoor’s house. The Kapoors were ruthless and cared only for their business. Their daughter Pakhi had felt lonely and Kamala had readily given her love and time. She had completely forgotten of her daughter. Kalpana had lived in a hostel all her adolosence life and had missed her mother. Here father was her sole support he had stood by her and brought her essentials when she needed it. Once grown up, she had worked hard and completed her BBA degree and joined a construction firm, Singhania Constructions. And there she had met Raghav Singhania. Raghav was her boss, the firm’s owner. They had fallen in love and though he had been a broken man because his mother left him when he was 10, she had loved him. He hated the Kapoors because they manipulated his father into signing over his business to them and had helped his mother run away. He had wanted revenge at first but falling in love with Kalpi had made him forget them and so they had been a happy couple until one day Vittal had a heart attack. As he lay on his death bed, he told Kalpi about the woman who lived few blocks away. The woman he had been providing for as she had no home or a family. He had asked her to promise that she would take care of her. And then he had died. So Kalpi had followed his instructions and took the woman to her house and nursed and provided for her. Raghav had come to meet Kalpi one day when he saw the woman and recognized her as his mother, Gauri Singhania. As his hatred for the Kapoors flooded his heart, he had broken up with Kalpi and went on to pursue his revenge. Kalpi tried to stop him but he had refused. She finally gave up and took his mother, took the first train and reached Delhi. Story begins here.
Anjali Jha/ Singh Raizada:
Anjali had lost her right leg to polio at a very young age. She had been pampered and loved by everyone in her family. After her parents sudden death in a tragic car accident at the age of 18, her younger brother Arnav had taken care of her and provided for her as a father would. She had completed her masters in law and had fallen in love with a lawyer friend named Shyam Jha. Shyam had courted her for a year before asking her hand in marriage. With the blessings of elders, they had married in a small ceremony because Shyam had wanted it so. Once the wedding was over, Shyam’s true face came out, he was an addict. He was addicted to violence, more specifically domestic violence. He had tortured her, humiliated her and abused her. She had been quiet hoping things would change. She had never opened her mouth about it to her family. She had given him money, obeyed him and fulfiled all his fantasies hoping things would change but it only got worse. She moved out of her maternal home when her brother suddenly got married hoping a change in surroundings would make him a better person. She had gotten herself a clerk job in a small law firm despite her brother’s protests. Then Shyam had stopped coming home suddenly, he came home only on salary days and those days Anjali dreaded the most as he abused her and extracted all her money. She had slowly started to learn to live alone when she had gotten pregnant. Joy filled her heart and she told him the news hoping the happiness would change him. Her joy was short lived for she suffered a miscarriage shortly afterwards and Shyam altogether stopped coming to see her. Dejected, she had shifted back to her maternal home. There she had found out the true reason for her brother’s marriage to Khushi. She had felt her heart break when she found that her brother was becoming the same monster her husband was. She told him the truth and settled things between them. Things seemed to have gotten into the new normal when suddenly came the news of her husbands accident. Story begins here.

Solid introduction & outlining of characters! Now, I cant wait to read the story! :)

Love the storyline and character sketches too. It’s a story of the four women battling in their own way against the society.
