Chapter 120
[MEMBERSONLY]
[NOCOPY]
Smita,😊
Here is the interpretation to Section 2 of Part 28.
While on their way back Anamika looked at Ganesh who was behind the wheels. He was at ease in his luxury vehicle. Anamika's whispered query, Ganesh, made him press on the brakes and ask, what was wrong? She asked him whether he was lonely. It made him look at her for a moment with shuttered eyes. Then parking the vehicle by the curb he queried in a soft tone, why was it being asked? She told him that Khushi and Anjali were saying, that it is a pity that he was not married, with a family.. Anamika halted her narration. Ganesh affirmed their thoughts by saying softly, that it indeed was a pity that he was not married, as he always wanted to marry and have a family to call his own. Anamika stared at him her face mirroring her vulnerability for a moment. She was shocked to hear him affirm Khushi and Anjali's thoughts. Then she turned her face to mask her feelings from him. He told her in a low but sure voice, though he always wanted to marry and have a family, he never felt lonely as he always had her and Gaurav. Hearing him echoing Khushi's words, Anamika looked out through the window and they sat in silence waiting for the other to speak. Anamika finally taking up her courage into her hands asked him stuttering, did they.. was it because of them that he did not get married? She meant did they stop him from having a life of his own? Ganesh's blunt Yes, they did, was of no solace to her already agitated mind. Anamika looked at him with heart-felt regret in her eyes.
Ganesh with a smile, gave her a very simple example to illustrate his point. Taking the example of Khushi, when she has her heart set on jalebis, rabri won't satiate her, however tasty it might be. It made Anamika stare at him wide-eyed with shock. He continued by saying that when his heart was yearning for her and Gaurav, no other woman than her or family could replace it. Anamika felt tears pool up her eyes and felt her heart pinch. In a soft soothing voice that was oozing with love and care he told her, not to cry. He had told not to upset her, but twenty years was too long a time for him not to vocalize his feelings and dreams. Anamika drying her tears away focused her vision on the road ahead. Ganesh beaming a smile at her averted face told her, that he would like to marry her and be Gaurav's father and she needed to give it a thought. But Anamika was silent. It made him tell her mildly, that if she is averse to marrying him that was fine. Things would go on like before and he would still be a father to Gaurav and a friend to her. It was nothing to be worried about. Was she fine by it? he asked. Only after Anamika nodded at him, he drove towards her house.
Arnav Singh Raizada who went ballistic at the thought of them doing something like interfering in the lives of Anamika and Ganesh, called over the phone, Khushi.. Khushi.. What the hell was she and Di upto? The tone he used, indicated his controlled fury and his fingers clutching the phone were trembling. Khushi setting aside the laddoos she was preparing, frowned and said with a puzzled expression, hell? With a laugh she told Arnav, that it was not hell but heaven. When Anamikaji and Ganeshji get married..
Arnav unable to control his anger roared Khushi, and continued to say, Anamika must be in her thirties... He was cut by Khushi who gave him her precise age saying, thirty-nine Arnavji, in a cheerful voice. When he said and Ganesh must be.. he was not allowed to complete once again and Khushi supplied the information as forty-five. Arnav frustrated by her constant butting in told her smoulderingly, that what he was trying to get into her's and Di's head was that they had no right to force the idea of marriage down their throats. Ganesh and Anamika were old enough to make decisions about their lives.
Khushi grimaced and asked, was it so? Then what had they done in the last twenty years? Looked at each other like small children look at an ice-candy on a hot day! She was very vocal in expressing her disgust at them moving at a snail's pace in the matter of the heart!
Arnav trying to put in a word for Anamika and Ganesh and their right of choice said, Khushi.. but was again cut off by Khushi who told him that they were going on 39 and 45 now. What were they waiting for? To hit a century? Why do they need to marry when they are both old, with no teeth and sporting a bald look? She was perplexed by their logic! Arnav once again tried to get in between her talk. Khushi persisted and told him, that life is so short, Arnavji. One should enjoy each and every day, shouldn't we? Now you only think about it, had Anamikaji and Ganeshji married earlier, they would now be having a band of monkeys, naughty children and Gaurav have been blessed with many brothers and sisters to be with.
Realizing the futility of subtleness and explaining about not tresspassing the individual rights, he rolled his eyes. It was like playing a lute in front of a cow. Khushi asked him, how would his life be without Anjaliji, Akash Jiju, and Nanheji? Arnav though wanting to reply couldn't come up with anything. Sensing that he was stumped, she asked him with a smile dancing on her lips, how would his life be without her? All he could say was Khushi, though searching for a fitting repartee he could not come up with one. She continued to say that it would be peaceful, but dull and drab just like his curtains, as disinteresting as his laptop, as lonely as a flower in his garden that a bee does not hum around. Arnav was silenced by this argument of hers. She said, that they were not forcing Anamikaji to marry Ganeshji, but just nudging them... and this time she was intercepted by Arnav who with a smile, told her that it is a good idea to get married before they are too old, too bald, and too toothless to marry. Now realizing that Arnav Singh Raizada at last understood, she exclaimed popping a laddoo in her mouth, Ab aaya na truck pul ke neeche! Its literal translation being, Now the truck has come under the bridge. It means he has at last given up his rigid stance and joined them.
This update is about being truthful and straightforward, frank, in a word CANDID.
When Anamika asked Ganesh whether he was really lonely and did he too feel that it was a pity that he was unmarried as mentioned by Khushi and Anjali, he sincerely told her that it was true. He openly told her that it was a pity that he was not married as he always wanted to marry and have a family but it was not true that he felt lonely. He never felt that, because of the presence of her and Gautam in his life.
"When pure sincerity forms within, it is outwardly realized in other people's hearts"
~ Lao Tzu
Her sincere question was it because of her and Gautam that he never married and did it stop him having a life he answered honestly that it was so and elaborated it saying he had no inclination for marriage with anybody else other than with Anamika and with Gaurav his son. Giving her the example of Khushi's inclination towards jalebis even when tasty rabri was offered, he said married life without her by his side was inconceivable and so was the family without Gaurav as his son.
"The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for "
~ Maureen Dowd
Seeing her eyes sting with tears he told her sincerely that suppressing his dreams and being silent for twenty long years was quite long even for him and that had to come out sometime. And he expressed frankly his desire to marry her as well as be a father to Gaurav.
"The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned"
~ Maya Angelou, All God's Children Need Traveling Shoes
At her silence he even told her honestly that if she was not ready for it, marriage was not the only option they had. They could maintain statusquo and there was nothing to worry about. Anything would be done only within her comfort zone.
"But there is greater comfort in the substance of silence than in the answer to a question"
~ Thomas Merton
When a furious Arnav shouted at Khushi asking what she and Di were upto she told him frankly that they were trying to get Anamikaji and Ganeshji married. At Arnav's open resentment at their interference on Anamika and Ganesh's personal matter, saying that they were adults and able to take any such decisions without anybody else poking their nose, Khushi asked him then how was it that they have spent 20 years without marriage but just look at each other yearning. Was it necessary to wait for another 50 more years for them to decide? She meant that they had not really awakened to their feelings and expressed it out in the open.
"My speaking is meant to shake you awake, not to tell you how to dream better"
~ Adyashanti, Emptiness Dancing
Khushi drives into Arnav a little bit of home truth by asking him how he would feel without his brothers and sister? When he feels sad won't Gaurav too feel it. What would Arnav's life be without her? Won't it be dull and drab without any colour but mechanical life? Won't life be like an inanimate object then. If he feels so then will it be different for Ganesh and Anamika? Instead of enjoying while young will it have any meaning to get married when it never matters what life holds. Growing old together was an experience by itself. Only then you enjoy your life. That was her frank opinion on how life should be.
"Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,
The last of life, for which the first was made"
~ Robert Browning, Rabbi Ben Ezra
When Arnav caught on to what they plan to do was just nudge the two, Ganesh and Anamika towards awareness he was a happy man. Khushi's frank, sincere, open and honest explanations put his mind to rest. He was also candid enough to express his happiness at their handiwork. This made her say Ab aaya na truck pul ke neeche! It was a candid statement that he has at last given up his rigid stance and joined them.
"Keep your best wishes, close to your heart and watch what happens"
~ Tony DeLiso, Legacy: The Power Within
That's why it is CANDID.
That's it from me. Hope you enjoy it.

Well, rather than backfiring -- as feared by Arnav -- the Anjali-Khushi interference seems to have served as a catalyst or as a stimulus, as rightly stated by Rashmi... it made Anamika and Ganesh take a deeper look into their relationship and be honest with each other, something that was long overdue... Anamika feels guilty for inadvertently having kept Ganesh from having a fulfilling life of his own... he has after all admitted that he's the marrying kind... though his bluntness in stating that Anamika and Gaurav are responsible for him not marrying is sure to have hurt her, his subsequent statement adds to her dilemma… "To take the example of Khushi, when her heart is set on jalebis, rabri won't do the job, however good it might be." Very nice metaphor! Ganesh's clarification that he's never felt lonely as he had Anamika and Gaurav, clearly shows their importance in his life... it is a truth Anamika can't escape! "When my heart was set on you and Gaurav, no other woman would do, no other family would do." … a beautifully understated confession of love! Thank god Ganesh has realised that he can't spend another twenty years or so keeping quiet… that would be unfair to himself and to Anamika and Gaurav… however, throughout the convo, care and concern for Anamika and the wish to make her happy is uppermost in his heart and mind… Ganesh is a true gentleman: he doesn't pressure Anamika to make a decision in his favour… rather he leaves her free to either accept his proposal or to continue with their current status quo, however unfulfilling it might be in the wrong run… again this is a question of Anamika's happiness and she doesn't need to make a decision based on what her son wants! Hope she'll give Ganesh and herself a chance to find fulfilment. A furious Arnav has been a sight sorely missed as it adds spice to the Arnav-Khushi relationship, as long as he doesn't do or say anything to hurt her badly! The ensuing scene reminds one of the one in the show when Arnav lash
