Chapter 106
[MEMBERSONLY]
[NOCOPY]
Smita,😊
Here is the interpretation to Section 1 of Part 25.
When Arnav's phone rang, the display read Khushi. The family had gathered for their breakfast and NK taking the initiative started to tease Arnav asking him who was calling him at breakfast time? Snatching the phone with quick movement before it could be taken by Arnav, NK told Di laughingly that, a Khushi happens to be calling Nannav. Does she know any Khushi? Anjali pretended to think and told him that, she is unable to remember having met any Khushi. Mami joined in the teasing saying that, she knows who is Khushi! She declared that she was their dhobi's wife in her brand of Hinglish! Nani who was listening, joined the fray! She asked with a smile, was it Mrs, Mishra's daughter-in-law? Finally Anjali asked Arnav, beaming a smile, Chotey, does he know a Khushi? All laughed seeing his expression. His face had assumed an embarrased expression and now, realizing that there would be no respite he let a slow smile spread on his face. Seeing that all the attention was on his smile, he quickly grabbed the cell phone out of NK's hand and left the table. NK started to say, ramanchi! ramanchi! That is ramanchi, Nannav, as Khushiji says! ending with Nannav, you are the badmash of ramanchi! As usual NK had mixed up words and Akash with a sigh corrected him saying that it was Badshah and not Badmash! NK declared both are the same and both are Bad.
Arnav in a smoky voice he drawled, Khushi, what happened? Was she missing him? he asked with his cocksure smirk. Khushi who was in tears, did not heed the playful talk. She told him hurriedly that, Gaurav had met with an accident last evening and and he was in the hospital. Anamikaji.. she couldn't complete the sentence. Arnav hearing her tearful voice paled, and asked her which hospital was it? Listening to her explanation, he strode to the dining table to take his coat hung at the back of his chair. Assuring her that he would be with her in a few minutes, and before cutting the call he said that he would take her to the hospital. Anjali listening to the last bit of his conversation asked her Chotey, what happened? She was pale faced when she asked, why was he taking Khushiji to the hospital? Nani asked him, whether Khushi's Babuji was fine. Hearing it, a pallid looking Payal raised her face to her Jetji. Arnav informed her that Anamika's son Gaurav, had met with an accident last evening and they, Khushi and he were going to visit them. Abandoning their repast, Nani, Anjali, Mami and Payal stood up. Nani declared that they were also going with him. Arnav stared at the womenfolk of his house and asked a dazed, you know her? Anjali explained to him that, they had met Anamikaji at Khushiji's house and she has only one son and if something happens to him.. she couldn't continue to say how devastated Anamika would be as her voice filled with tears blocked itself. Mami in her Hinglish suggested to Arnav, it was better to go as soon as possible to the hospital. Arnav and Akash drove the ladies first to Khushi's house to collect Khushi and found that Buaji too was ready with a food hamper. Buaji was all concerned and compassionate towards Anamika. While handing over the basket to Arnav before getting into the car she said, Poor Anamika Bitiyaa! She would not have taken a morsel of food, fretting about her son all night through. Nani agreed and Mami and Anjali smiled at her thoughtfulness.
Anamika and Ganesh were surprised to see a veritable army of well wishers standing next to them. As Khushi strode upto Anamika and hugged her tight, Anamika smiled and hugged back. Khushi asked Anamika how Gaurav was in a tear filled voice. Anamika said with a reassuring smile, that he had fractures in an arm and a leg only, and no internal or head injuries. He had his surgery done last night and when they had met him in the morning he was much better. Buaji praised her diety for having made Gaurav escape with lesser injury. Nani and Anjali caught hold of Anamika's hands. Nani asked her why had she not called them last night itself. They would have come and stayed with her. She admonished her for being there alone when she could have had them to share her grief. Anamika touched by their concern told her that Ganesh was with her. She introduced Ganesh to the ladies saying he was a friend and Gaurav loves him a lot. When she introduced the ladies to Ganesh as ASR's Nani, his Mami and his sister Anjali, Ganesh greeted them with a Namaste hands folded earning an approval from the ladies at first glance. Then Anamika introduced Khushi's Buaji. When Ganesh greeted her, he was introduced to the Buaji's brand of love. She in the name of her favorite diety, Nandkisore said that she had thought Bitiyaa might have been all alone all night. It was good that he was there. She told him that no one would be scared with a tall, Bhim built friend by her side. Buaji complimented him profusely, while Arnav hid his smile and Ganesh a man with rugged looks blushed like a schoolboy. When Buaji asked them, did they have their breakfast, shaking their heads, Anamika and Ganesh indicated that they are yet to have it. Buaji thrust the food hamper at them and asked them to have it or else they will fall sick by the time Gaurav leaves the hospital. Anamika and Ganesh thanked her unable to believe that that they had so many people who stood four-square behind them and were willing to share and shoulder their responsibilities and worry. Nani asked them why don't they have their breakfast and rest for a while as they would wait there. The ladies nodded and Khushi told Anamika that she should rest and they would look after Gaurav. Anamika taken aback by their offer, tried to refuse saying that they would manage, but Mami overruled her saying in her inimitable Hinglish, Why should she manage when they were all there. She promised that they would look after the apple of her eyes, while she rested.
This update is about a small group of people, with shared interest, who spend time together, a kinship group. In a word PHRATRY.
What exactly is a Phratry?
In ancient Greece phratry was a kinship group, a brotherhood group or a fraternity, but an exclusive one, a la clan. It is pronounced as freetree.
When Arnav's phone rang, it was a call from Khushi. NK who grabbed the phone knowing very well it was Khushiji calling started to tease Arnav and the others too joined him. Arnav now knew that, all this was because they loved him and this was their way of showing it. Seeing that he will not get any respite and there was no point in getting angry at trivial things when those trivial things helped him remember his own Khushi, he thought hoodwinking them was the best option available. Listening to their teasings he gave a slight smile that lit up his face with the joy that the memory of his Khushi brought in. His family, were so glad to see his smile that, they had their attention focused on his face and he, in a quick movement grabbed the cell phone from NK making NK shout out, cheating as Khushiji says! That convivial atmosphere defined the kinship that now existed in the Raizada Mansion.
"When you love someone, show them in words AND deeds. To hear you're loved is nice but to feel loved is incredible"
~ Nina Guilbeau
When Arnav took the call, Khushi did not bite the bait of teasing. Instead she informed him about Gaurav's misshap. Immediately Arnav decided to go to the hospital along with her knowing Anamika would need the support. That is what the brotherhood is. It closes in when in need. The family on enquiry of the need to take Khushi to the hospital after hearing the fag end of the conversation, decides they too would join them taking Arnav by surprise. He was stunned to know that they too knew Anamika the recluse designer, through Khushi. The lady whom he had been trying to get an appointment with for the past few years for business, but to no avail, was freely mingling with the womenfolk of his family! That's when he realized the kinship that his family extends to people with whom they have similar interest. It was not a group that held satsangs or kitty parties. It was a group that had similar interests with the base of love for humanity that cared for one another.
"Kinship is not serving the other, but being one with the other. There is a world of difference in that"
~ Gregory Boyle, Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion
When he reached Gupta House, he found Buaji too ready with Khushi to be with Anamika in her hour of need. She was with a food hamper for Anamika realizing that she may not have had anything to eat in her worried state. That was the sort of love Buaji doled out to each and every person she came into contact with. It took into consideration their well- being too. That was Buaji's acceptance into the fold.
"The only way love can last a lifetime is if it's unconditional. The truth is this: love is not determined by the one being loved but rather by the one choosing to love"
~Stephen Kendrick, The Love Dare
When Anamika and Ganesh met their visitors they were stumped to see the love, kinship, feeling of fraternity extended towards them by this group. They who had thought Arnav Singh Raizada had a family that was hell bent on keeping him under leash and he had an uphill task of browbeating them everyday were given a glimpse of how a family comes together at time of need and would readily share the responsibilities and worries of those who come within their exclusive clan. For them it was a give and take relationship. They never thought who gave or who took. Anything was done to whoever was in need at that particular point of time unconditionally, without keeping any sort of tab on it. Providing with the sustenance and then taking over the vigil, enabling both Ganesh and Anamika to rest, showed them how a real family works, which they had been deprived off. It was an eyeopener to them. They felt blessed to have belonged to this kinship group.
"Sometimes family is just not what you were born into"
~ Chelesbells
This update was not only an eye opener for Anamika and Ganesh, it was also for Arnav Singh Raizada on his own family.
That is why I called this PHRATRY.
"Fraternity is the fuel that allows common people to produce uncommon results"
~ Greek Proverb
That's it from me. Hope you enjoy it.

Why did Anamika take all that effort to shield Khushi from all the ex-girlfriends, wannabe's of Arnav?
