Chapter 55

Khushi was pacing in the room, waiting for Arnav to come back after the dinner but today his dinner seems to be never ending. Coco was running behind her trying to understand what's wrong with her but she wasn't stopping instead she was getting more furious. As the door made a little cracking sound of opening she instantly halted making Coco almost collide with her but the essence of his favorite person arriving he started barking.

"You almost gave him the concussion Khushi. Arnav said entering in the room.

"What were you trying to preach downstairs? Husband-wife? Favour Gifts? she asked him keeping her hands on her sides.

"I knew it was coming. He said bending down to pick Coco up.

"What do you mean by that and what do you think of yourself? You can't pull any stunt in front of Di and force me to do anything.

"Well you started bringing Di in our conversations, I was just following your footsteps. He said reminding her the incidents when she brought Di in to convince himmaking her huff.

"But it was just one time thing.

"So was mine. he said with a shrug.

"Why don't you understand Arnavji? she asked.

"Because i don't want to...i don't want you to work for someone else when you can easily work with me...I don't want you to stay away when we can easily spend more time together. I don't want to waste a second of these 3 months whereas you are trying to let them slide. He said more than he intended too making her look at him in confusion.

"I mean we can work together. he said looking away.

"But things don't work that way...everything will thing I just using you for your mine. she told him genuinely.

"No one will think that way.

"Even you thought the same Arnavji.she said and took Coco away from him just to avoid this never ending argument but what she didn't realize she just wounded a person who was just trying a bit harder everyday to earn his apology but the least he knew the damage he did was a lot more than he ever expected it to be. Maybe this was the way it felt when people don't understand your feelings and keep accusing you.

He laid down on the bed but sleep was far away from his eyes because only thing that flashes in front of his eyes are the days he had mistreated her, accused her, punished for things she hadn't even done and the worst part she had to see him with some other woman . the thought of her being with some man just riles him up, he doesn't even want to think how badly he had hurt her by being with Lavanya that day. He took his phone to kill the time while waiting for her to come back I the room after regaining her calmness but it was taking more than usual. He was scrolling through his phone when he saw several messages of Lavanya which he intentionally didn't paid heed to. He was sick of this lady. She isnt taking a hint that it's over. Something which he never thought would go to this extend in the first place. a casual relationship which they both were very well aware of, nothing was hidden from her, he had made things out clear from the beginning but when she started acting like his real girlfriend never sunk into him. initially he found it good because it was actually going well and smooth for him but things have changed a lot now and telling her that she doesn't mean anything to him wasn't that easy then it sounds.

"Okay Arnavji...so I have decided. Sudden sound of his wife scared him so much that his phone landed directly landed on his face.

"What the hell Khushi. he said rubbing his chin where it hit him.

"Now what I did? You dropped your own phone on your very own face...where I am coming here...you just need a reason to yell at me and that's why I don't want to work for you and for your company. She said making him sit up.

"I-I Just...I was just busy okay and I won't yell at you in the office. he said while she sits on her recliner making Coco lay down on the floor.

"Promise? she asks and he nods just hoping she would say yes. A small smile appeared on her lips which soon turned to a hysterical laugh.

"Look at your face arnavji...you look more cute than Coco. She said making Coco bark and her husband's face to scrunch up.

"Khuhsi...he warned her.

"I met Di outside and made me understand everything so came in told you that I am ready for the internship but I have few conditions.

"Like?

" Condition No. 1- you'll treat me like a normal employee not like you treat like your wife...

"Khushi... he interrupted.

"Anyways I'll be like a normal employee. Condition no 2- you staff wouldn't treat me any differently because I am your wife. Are these conditions acceptable to you? she asked.

"Okay...I don't have a problem.

"And yes one more thing I don't want any sort of discrimination between me and other employees when it comes to work distribution...okay? she said pointing a finger and a smile cracked on his face. People dye to escape work and here she is willing to work more.

"Anything else Ma'am...you have a week and you can list down everything you want. He said.

"No so far so good. he said making herself comfortable on the recliner.

"So are you working for AR? he asked and she nods closing her eyes smiling lightly. It was ofcourse her dream to work in such a big company which happened to be her husband's.

He smiled widely on the success of his plan and with the anticipation of working with her now. Atleast now he could see her right infront of his eyes anytime he wants and could spend more time with her. maybe...maybe there is a small little chance where she could forgive him.

ONE WEEK LATER

"Khushi...hurry up you are making me late. Arnav yelled from downstairs waiting for Khsuhi to come.

"5 minutes...he heard her screaming and he huffed loudly.

"It's okay Chotte, she is just a way to nervous for her first day. Anjali said.

"I don't know why is she this nervous Di, she is working in my company for godsake. You know she didn't even slept last night. he told Anjali.

"It's her first day Chotte, just give her some time to adjust and please don't scold her for anything even if she does wrong. Anjali warned him.

"Di I don't scold her. he tried to defend himself.

"SO what you do doesn't even count as your love, you just make her cry and I will not let you step in the house if she comes back home crying. He warned him.

"Di your pregnancy is getting dangerous day by day.

"Chotte you just don't realize what you utter when you are angry...you don't realize the worth of things Chotte unless you loss them she said.

"I am ready Arnavji. Khushi came down yelling on top of her voice but his Di's words got stuck to his mind. These are the words she always say but he never really understood what they meant.

"Arnavji...now you are the one making us late. She said.

"Breakfast? Anjali said from behind.

"Di I can't...we are getting late. She said.

"No one is getting late...you eat first. Arnav said from behind and for 15 minutes he made theem late just to make sure his wife finish everything which is served on her plate.

They reached office and everyone wished them good morning'. Khusi got few stares and glares early in the morning from few of the employees but Arnav knows it well enough to ignore them and walk ahead. So he tucked her beside him and continued walking all the way to his cabin.

"Why were they looking me like that? she asked.

"Because you are my wife. He said while sitting on his chair.

"SO? she asked.

"You being my wife joining here as an intern is a bit strange maybe that's why.

"So they want me to join as COO? she asked him jokingly.

"Maybe that's what your real place is. he replied very seriously which made her smile drop.

"SO what's my job? she asked.

"My personal assistant is on a leave, so you'll be filling in for her for now. he said.

"Okay...but what I am supposed to do now? she asked him.

"Hey Arnav, finally decided to show up...huh? Lavanya said while entering his cabin and suddenly the atmosphere turn weird.

"Oh seems like we have a guest. She said looking sourly towards Khushi.

"She is not a guest; she is working in AR as my personal assistant. Arnav interjected her stare.

:Oh wow, congratulations Khushi. she said.

"Thank you.

"Post divorce you can live easily because I hope Arna must be paying you pretty well, isn't it.

"I am here for internship. Khushi told her.

"Well than can you please get two coffees for us and please do take you take your time, I need to talk to Arnav about something in private...you know... she said with a fake smile.

"Khushi make it three and we don't have to talk anything private...so be quick I have to explain you the work. Arnav told her making her feel trapped. She went ou quickly decideing to give them as much tie as possible.

"Why weren't you answering my calls Arnav, and what is wrong with you...why the hell you bought up here to work? she asked him walking towards him.

" First of all watch your tone, secondly I bought her here because this is my company and I can hire and fire people whenever I want. He seethed.

"I am saying because she has to see us together everytime...

"She won't. he interrupted her.

"Why?

"Because it's over Lavanya and how many time I to say the same thing over and over again? he almost yelled at her.

"You are kidding me right? she asked.

"No I am not. he replied.

"Are you falling for that girl? She spitted.

"That's none of your business. He replied back.

"Ofcourse it is because everything was fine between us until she decided to barge int our lives.

"Lavanya stop blaming her for everything.

"I was right, you are falling for her but don't forget in the end you'll be coming back to me just like you always do. All of this is temporary...you just want to be with her for some time and eventually when you'll get bored of her you'll come back to me Arnav.

"That would never happen. He said and before they could continue there was a knock on his cabin door.

"Come in Khushi..you don't have to ask to be in your husband's cabin. He said and she looked at him hesitantly and walk in but as she was about to enter lavaya decided to leave intentionally bumping in her making all the hot coffee fall over Khushi.

"Ahh... She screamed and sat on the floor.

"Khushii... Arnav came running to her the moment he realized what Lavanya did and sat right in front of her.

"Bloody hell...what the hell she did. He took her completely burned hands and she quickly took it away from him. tears filled in her eyes from the sensations of burns she was feeling all over her hands and chest.

"Come with me...fast. He helped her stand making sure she would slip on the liquid flowing on the floor and took her to the washroom. He quickly washed her hand with the cold water making sure she wouldn't feel the burns on her delicate skin. He heard her sob and his anger on Lavanya just sky rocketed.

"I swear I'll kill Lavanya for pulling this stunt...

"It wasn't her ault...I alays mess up with the smallest task... she sobbed.

"Khuahi even a blind could tell she ddi itr intentionally...and stop crying for something you didn't do...Oh god it's turning all red...come lets go to the doctor. He said and she sobbed again.

"I am not going anywhere. She cried.

"Let's go to infirmary. He said.

"I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE. She said stomping her foot not sure where she was more irritated. Seeing Lavanya in his cabin or lavanya spilling coffee at her or making the blunder of her very first task given.

Suddenly when she couldn't hold anymore she ended up crying in the middle of his cabin's washroom and rested her head on his chest and he rubbed her back.

"It's okay Khushi...why are you crying.

She doesn't know what to explain when she doesn't know why is she crying either. She just cant sa I am crying because I saw a girl responsible for my failed marriage. He took her out and made her sit on his chair and kneeled down in front of her.

"Look at me Khushi. he said but she kept looking down as the tears rooled down her eye. How muc he wanted to tell her that seeing those tears in her eyes squeezes his heart out and these are the moments he loose himself completely or a girl he might have fallen for. He cupped her face and instantly planted a kiss on her cheek where the tears had stained her skin. She was surprised by his actions but he looked the least bothered.

"Sir may I come in? there was knock again on the door and let the person come in.

"Sir here are the things you asked for.

"Keep them on the table. he ordered scanning her burns.

Khushi who was already burning from the coffee was now burning with embarrassment. There was silence between them as he worked on her burns applying the ointment.

"You need fresh clothes and also the medication. He said while checking his work.

"I am okay.

"I didn't asked you. he said and picked up his phone throwing orders somewhere.

"I ruined your shirt. Khuhsi said covering her mouth and pointing towards the huge brown stain on his shirt. He followed where she was pointing and he would have easily snapped at someone else who would have done this but he couldn't on this girl.

"It's okay Khushi.

"How I am going to work if I keep messing up like this. her eyes filled up with tears once again and he kneeled down again in front of her.

"You need to save these precious tears Khushi. he whispered and once again kissed her on cheeks making her eyes snap out of her sockets.

"Let's go shopping. He took her hand and even before she could protest he took her out of the AR to spend sometime with her away from everything.
