Chapter 21

CONFESSIONS

He left her in the complex and went to his office for some remaining work left in Manali. He wanted to finish this work as soon as possible so that he can relax the last day of their vacations and finally can leave for Delhi. He was working and working and working. His final meeting was fixed with some of the clients. He entered the conference hall to initiate the meeting switching off his phone so that no one could disturb him. He was too much engrossed in his work that when the time flied he didn't realized. The meeting ended successfully and he was heading towards his cabin when he heard some staff members discussing something.

Person 1 -"have you heard about the bomb blast"

Person 2-" yeah...the one at the city complex na..."

Person 1-"it is such an unfortunate incident...i have heard that nea

rly all the people present in the complex are dead..."

Person 2-"hmm...even the rescue team is trying their best to find the people buried but I don't think many people could be saved..."

Person 1-"it was high intensity bomb..." And suddenly his eyes felt on his boss standing numb hearing their conversation-"good evening Sir...and wishing him they disappeared from their.

Arnav's mind was repeating the words-"blast at city complex..." it was exactly the same place where he left his wife few hours back. He was standing like a statue and then he brushed his hair not able to understand what is happening. His mind was not working . horrible thoughts had already started making their way in his brain. Though he don't like Khushi that never meant he want her to die. Taking some deep breaths and finally figuring out the things he couldn't wait any longer their. He rushed to place where he left her.

He took his car and starting driving at an insane speed. Last night he forgot to pick her up and now when he wanted to make her happy such a horrible incident had happened. He was driving recklessly but at several place police had barricaded the roads so that if there is any other bomb planted anywhere people could be saved. But breaking all the barricading he was just driving. He considered himself lucky last night that he found her safe..but luck may always not favour him.he was just hoping that everything is fine with her. Every passing second seemed to be hours for him and finally after driving for some miles he reaced the place.

The place was tightly barricaded and none of the visitor was allowed. Everyone was rushing here and there . dead bodies were lying ever where and some injured people were lying on the stretcher bleeding badly. He tried to find her but she was no where. He tried to enter the complex but the cops stopped him.

Police-"sir...you are not allowed"

Arnav-"my..my..(for the first time Arnav Singh Raizada stammered)...wife is inside...I need to go..."

Police-"but sir (trying to stop him from entering) you are not allowed..."

Arnav-"just shut up..."

Police-"sir...sir...listen to me...there is an information centre set up...please go and check their..."

Arnav immediately rushed their and started shooting his queries.

Arnav-"excuse me ...my wife...is inside where is she now???"

Informer-"sir you have her photo..."

Arnav-"no...but but she was dressed in white suit and..."

Informer-"sir come along with me...there are so dead bodies..."

Arnav-(cutting him in between)-"NOOo.. (with great anger)"I don't have time to waste with you...I can find her alone..."

Informer-"but sir the entire building is set on fire...most of the people are dead..."

Arnav-(gritting his teeth)-"did I asked you...(and clutched the in informer's collar)

Informer-(trying hard to speak)-"I am...am...sorry sir...but I am telling you the fact..."

Arnav-"(leaving his collar hard almost making the informer collapse)-"keep your bloody mouth shut..." and without wasting an another second he rushed to look for his wife.

He rushed here and there just to find a glimpse of her but his every attempt failed. His mind was not ready to accept the fact that something has happened to her. Though he had overheard the sentence of the informer but still the facts were killing him from inside. But he has to be practical at this moment . seeing many injured , dead and the burning complex his courage was declining. His every search failed. His heart was racing now. His tension was increasing. He decided to rush the hotel and find her picture because that was the only thing that can help him now. He got to his car and sat down in it. He drove his car at the maximum speed. He just wanted to find her as soon as possible and for that he need to reach his hotel soon. He was just driving and driving. The distance seemed to be endless. He was getting many calls but he was not receiving any calls. Everyone at Raizada mansion and Lavanya were very worried.

He was driving recklessly when his eyes felt on a girl dressed in white anarkali holding her sandals in her hands. He halted the brakes of the car and observed the girl keenly. She was exactly like Khushi. His mind was not able to figure out weather he was hallucinating or is it true. He got down from the car and rushed towards the girl who was walking in the middle of the road. He got down of the car and screamed.

"KHUSHIII..."

And screaming loud he closed his eyes hoping that when the girl turns he sees her face. Something similar to last night was happening to him this night too.

The girl turned behind to see the source of voice and whispered lightly-"Arnavji...aap "

As he heard her voice he opened his eyes to see he standing all right. He was more than just happy today. For the first time he felt so happy seeing Khushi's face. He ran to her and just when they where millimetres apart he stopped sensing what he was about to do. He wanted to hug her but stopped.

He pulled her with her arms holding them tight-"What are you doing here...I left you at the complex na..."

Khushi sensed his anger and wanted to speak something when he started again-"you know how worried was i...I searched you every where but you...you?? And he left her arms and let her go.-"here you are roaming holding your sandals in hand like you are walking on beech.

Today he was very very angry and as usual he don't know how to blurt it out.

Khuhsi-(with nervousness)-"wo Arnavji..."

Arnav-"just sit in the car...and we are going back today itself"

Khushi-(with widened eyes)-"but why..???"

Arnav-"didn't you heard me saying...(again he pulled her with her arms)-"what if something...(and he refrained himself from speaking further.

Khushi without much arguments sat in the car as he left her. Though he was scolding her but his concern made her smile in happiness. She sat in the car and Arnav himself assured her safety by shutting the car's door.

Khushi-(to herself)-"now I have the perfect opportunity to make you confess"

Their was complete silence between them . he was not talking to her but whenever she tried to initiate the conversation he used to shut her up. but now this was heights. She had to say something. Staying quiet is not in her habit and whenever she stays quiet for a long her mouth aches.

Khushi-"arnavji...listen to me once..."

But he continued looking at the road.

Khushi-"when you left me I didn't found anything to shop...so I came out early...and was about to call you than a theif snatched my purse and starting running...your credit card was in it so I followed him...and finally got my purse back. And she smiled on her bravery but he looked at her with terrifying anger.

Khushi-"arrey...you are still angry...you should be proud of me...I saved your credit card...(she was intensionally talking about his money as he only things she is behind his money...so today she wanted to tell him that she is not a kind of girl he is thinking about) "

Arnav just looked at her in disgust...how can she think of money at this moment too...here he was dying to see her and their she was running behind the theif for his credit card.

Khushi-"what...why are you looking me like that..."

And the silence continued.

Khushi-(after some more time)-"Arnavji...what if...I would have been their in the complex when all this...I meant the blast had happened...then???"

He clutched the steering tight avoiding to look at her. Only he knows what he had been going through all the while when she was missing.

Khushi-(she remained silent for few second then in a low voice she continued again)-"what if I would have died...were you going to miss me..."

Enough now this was it...he cant handle it anymore...she just halted the break of the car and came out . he opened the door of her side and pulled her out. Shutting the door hard he pinned her on the car.

Khushi-ahh...Arnavji...what happened..."

Arnav-"just shut up...i have heard enough...and who do you think you are?? Huh...don't I know what kind of girl you are??? Don't I know your reason for this marriage??? Huh...speak now..."

The pain on her wrist was increasing with his grip but the pain of his words was harder.

Arnav-"I know you married me only...and only for the bloody money...but you???? What do you think I was worried for you...NO Miss Gupta... I was finding you because you are my responsibility here...And one and the last thing... I don't give a damn about you...you never meant anything to me nor you are going to mean anything to me..."

Leaving her wrist he pointed his index finger to her he started again -"don't forget that this is a bloody contract marriage nothing else...once 8 months are over I am free from you..." he left her and went to sit on his side of the car but she was standing still. Whatever she thought was just her hallucination. He don't love her...he tears were not able to stop... they were flooding drenching her cheeks.

Arnav-"now sit in the car... we have to leave..."

Khushi-"its not over here...(getting on his side of the car she looked him through the window )whats the problem with you..."

Arnav-(opening the gate of his car he came out)-"don't create a fuss...I am not in a mood"

Khushi-"no I will not...why you always think I am behind your money...huh..i know you married me because of your di...but what is my fault in this...your Di came to my place for me...and for this marriage..."

Arnav-" I am not here to discuss all this rubbish...what ever it is...don't provoke me"

Khushi-"provoke??? What else you can do...huh??"

This was enough for today. He cant listen her anymore. Though she was speaking the truth...but this truth is very bitter...the more he thinks about him...the more he gets confused. He just grabbed her hand and pulled her to the passenger side and opened the gate and made her sit in the car. he came to his side and was about to open the gate of his side when Khushi opened the gate of her side and came out. He was about to speak something but before that she opened the back door and sat on the back seat. Arnav too didn't said anything and opened the door , sat and started the engine.

Wiping her tears and controlling them further she sat in the car and he started the engine to drive to their destination. Though he truly understand that it was his luck that she is standing safe infront of his eyes...but he cant let her know what he feels about her. As he himself doesn't know what is happening to him. For him this marriage is just a contract and it should be maintained till their only. He cant love her...neither he can give her any false hope of loving her too.
