Chapter 4
She walked, or rather staggered, into the class, holding her head in one hand while clutching her hand bag in the other. She was dressed in white Patiala and a sleeveless pink kurti. Her hair was open, scattered around her back messily, she'd felt to lazy to brush it, let alone tie it up neatly. Luckily, she'd not been late. She took her seat beside Kaustaki, just as Vardhaan sir entered the classroom.
Sanyukta tried to focus on the lecture but she had not yet recovered from her hangover. Her mind kept drifting away to last night, trying to reminiscence the incidents that had taken place...Parth dropping her to the hostel, Randhir coming to check on her, whispering in he rear, drawing the blanket...
V: Sanyukta Aggarwal!
Sanyukta's line of thoughts broke as she heard Vardhaan Sir's domineering voice.
V: What did I just say?
S: Umm.uh...Sir.
V: Stop stuttering.
S: I am sorry sir. I wasn't paying attention.
V: Get out of my class.
S: Huh?
V: You heard me. Get out. NOW!
Sanyukta knew better than to argue with sir. She lowered her head and slowly walked out of the class. She turned to look at Parth who gave her a sympathetic look which made her smile slightly. Randhir was upset. Sanyukta had smiled at Parth but she hadn't even glanced at him! He knew she wouldn't remember anything that happened last night but...Oh damn!
'What the hell is wrong with me? How the hell do I care who she smiles at and who she doesn't!'', Randhir mentally chided himself. As Sanyukta was about to step outside the door of the classroom, her head started to spin. Her vision blurred and she held on to the classroom door for support. Before she knew it, her vision blacked out and she fainted, daintily landing on the floor with a slight thud. Parth was the first to rush towards her.
P: Sanyukta!! Are you fine?! Utho Sanyu. Aakhein kholo!
Vardhaan sir and the others also came rushing to her.
V: Parth. Take her to the medical room immediately.
P: Yes sir.
Parth gently lifted Sanyukta up in his arms(bridal style) and walked out of the class hurriedly. Two pairs of eyes belonging to two fierce people, stood glaring at the door, from where Parth had just rushed out.
'What the...Yeh loser apne aap ko samajhta kya hai? Aur Vardhaan sir? Unhe kya hogaya? Parth ko kaise Sanyukta ko le jaane bola? Shit. I need a date with my punching bag.'', thought Randhir, fiercely as he stomped out of the classroom.
Vidushi on the other hand just glared at the door and grumbled, clenching her fists before leaving the class in a haste.
-----------At the Medical Room------------
P: Nurse, yeh kab tak theek ho jaegi?
N: Beta asal mein inhe rest ki jaroorat hai. Aaj raat inhe yehi rukhna chahiye.
P: Acha toh fir theeke.
As Parth took his seat on a chair beside Sanyukta's bed, Vardhaan sir entered the room.
V: Hows Sanyukta?
P: Sir. Voh abhi behtar hai..she just needs rest. She has still not regained consciousness though.
V: Good. Tum yeh rakh lo. Ye access code hai Dream Team ke account ka. Sambhaal ke rakhna.
P: Yes sir.
--------5 hours later---------
Parth was seated beside Sanyukta's bed, with a book in his hand, sleep overpowering him by each passing minute.
Sanyukta shifted on her bed and slowly opened her eyes. She immediately came face to face with Parth.
S: Parth!! Tum ab tak yaha ho? Kya hua tha mujhe? Mai yaha kya kar rahi hu?
P: Relax Sanyukta. Thank god tumhe hosh aagaya. Tum behosh ho gayi thi aur tumhe aaraam ki jaroorat hai toh tum rest karo. Chalo so jaao vaapis.
S: Parth, mai theek hu. Nurse hai na. Tum jaao. Kaafi raat hogayi hai.
Just then Sanyukta's phone beeped. She took her phone and read the message.
S: Yeh dekho. Kaustaki bhi yaha aarahi hai isiliye tum jaao ab. Thank you mera khayaal rakhne ke liye.
P: Par Sanyukta...
S: (Cuts him off) Hi Kaustaki. Aagayi tum.
Kaustaki trudged into the medical room and greeted Sanyukta.
P: Dekho naa Kaustaki. Yeh Sanyukta mujhe yaha se bhagaa rahi hai! Ab iski baat taalna mere bas ki baat nahi hai. Isiliye mein jaa raha hu. Par tum iska khayaal rakhna, okay? Chalo then. Bye girls. Sanyukta please rest kar lena.
S: Haan haan. Ab jaao tum.
Just five minutes after Parth left, Vidushi came running into the room, panting.
V: Parth. Parth kaha hai?
K: Voh toh abhi abhi chala gaya. Tum yaha kaise?
Vidushi sighed angrily!
'Damn. Mujhe laga Sanyukta ki thodi dekhbhaal karne ka naatak karungi Parth ke saamne toh voh impress hojaaega. Aakhir Sanyukta uski 'Friend'' jo hai! Hmph! Ab yeh plan bhi fail hogaya. Kya jaroorat thi usse chale jaane ki! Arghh!!'', Vidushi thought irritably.
As she turned to leave, she spotted an envelope lying on the chair beside Sanyukta's bed. She picked it up and curiously enquired to Sanyukta about it.
S: Lagta hai yeh Parth ka hoga. Vahi yah ape baitha thaa. Bhool gaya hoga.
Vidushi literally jumped in joy, before scurrying out of the room like a jet plane.
S: Isse kya hogaya achanak se? Daude padte hai kya isse?
K: Rehne do Sanyu. Voh poori ki poori hi paagal hai!
--------In Randhir's room----------
'Yeh Parth kaha reh gaya?! Raat ke 2 baj gaye hai aur bandha ab tak gaayab hai! Sanyukta ke paas toh nahi ruka hai naa? Bodyguard hai kya uska! *smirks*Oh shutup Randhir. Uske paas hai bhi, toh kya farakh padta hai!'', Randhir mused in frustration, for the millionth time that night.
Clenching his fists trying to get rid of all these unnecessary thoughts about Sanyukta and Randhir, he drifted off into a restless sleep.
-----------Next morning-----------
A sleep deprived Parth walked out of the bathroom, ready to go to the class. Before Randhir could even question him about his whereabouts of last night, he mumbled a 'See you in class'' and walked off.
Few minutes later, Randhir strode into the classroom, to notice a cheerful Sanyukta laughing away with Kaustaki and Jiggy, at a joke told by Parth. Anger immediately rose in him but before he could interrupt the giggling gang of Kiddies, a bulky man stomped into the class, screaming.
Man: KASHYAP!! *Stressing on the word dramatically*
---------Dean's office-----------
D: Vardhaan tumhe pata bhi hai usne kiya kya hai? Usne kal raat ko CITE ke account mein FITE ke saare DreamTeam funds, transfer kar diye, apne laptop se.
V: What?! There has to be a misunderstanding dean. Aur aapne aise kaise usse arrest karva diya. Ek baar internal investigation toh hone dete. Aapne dekha nahi voh inspector kaise behave kar raha thaa Parth ke saath? Jaise koi puraani dushmani ho! Aur aapne unhe usse le jaane diya.
D: But Vardhaan, humaare paas proof hai uske against. Uske laptop se hi transfer hua tha. Aur tum uss pe itna bharosa kyun rakh rahe ho? Proof hai tumhaare paas? Usse beguna saabit karne ke liye?
S: Haan Hai.
Dean turned around, to see Sanyukta and the rest of the students, walk in with their so called proof'.
-------Early Morning-------
Thud! Parth lay on the floor, badly bruised all over, blood oozing out of every part of his body. He tried to get up but failed miserably, stumbling and crashing onto the graveled ground yet again. He uttered a silent prayer to God, to give him the strength he desperately needed, and help him.
As soon as he did so, God's sent angel, walked towards him. It seemed as though God had heard his sincere prayer, as Sanyukta rushed towards him. Her eyes welled up with the tears as she helped him to his room, where Jiggy immediately came to his aid.
Randhir wanted to help Parth too. After all, Parth had been proved innocent and his suspicions of him being with Sanyukta all night had been proved wrong too...Not that it mattered! Jiggy had told him that throughout the night, 'his poor'' Kaustaki was with Sanyukta in the medical room. But he still wondered that if not with Sanyukta, where had Parth been all night?
Randhir huffed and strode out of his hostel room, in anger as he saw Sanyukta tend to Parth's wounds. He couldn't bear the sight of Sanyukta, caressing Parth's face and wiping of his tears, although he had no idea why it bothered him so much.
However, Parth felt differently. As he observed Sanyukta crying with him, for him and hug him gently, he realized how special their bond was.
He found that their bond was not just of friends but something more. No, not of lovers, that's not possible, as he could never possibly love someone else other than HER. But he found that Sanyukta and his bond, was more like that of soulmates. He found a caring friend and a loving sister, in Sanyukta. He guided her to the right path, with his calmness overpowering her sometimes short temper, while she supported him always, her caring nature always there to soothe him when he was upset. And that...is how their bond was, is and he wished for it to stay...Forever and Always.
