Chapter 1

"Great , only this was remaining in my list of disasters .. ". Kria angrily threw up her hands above her head and gritted her teeth ... She again pressed her foot on the accelerator but her car was not ready to budge from its place as it was struck in the snow ...

In frustration she hit the steering wheel and put her head on it ...

Why me. Her mind cried ..

Why does everything have to go against me .. What have I done ..

Initially she had a suspicion but now it was getting confirmed that her stars had moved on a malign orbit just to shower her with troubles ...

Her flight to Shimla was 3 hours delayed ... Due to that she lost the reservation on the rental car which she had made .. Another hour of delay and finally when she was loading her luggage in it when there was this sudden torrential downpour on her ...

Hell !!! How can it rain in December .. She almost looked at the sky and screamed ...

She had hardly anything to cover herself into .. Her silk blouse was soaking wet as well as her skirt and her shiny wavy curls were in a sopping rueful state ...

Finally she drove and when she was just reaching her grandma's town outskirts it started snowing .. She just kept praying that she reach her home safely in this dark night .. But her problems were still not over .. Her car got stuck in the snow at the start of the lane to her grandmothers' house ...

Why does life have to be so complicated she thought as she stepped out of her car ...

Her life anyway was a mess thanks to her foolish heart and now all this .. She kicked the tyre of her car to let out her frustration ..

How she wished she was in her soft bed , pull the covers over her head and wish that all her problems vanish in a jiffy when she wakes up ...

But the thought of leaving the car stranded on the road which might block the other vehicles bothered her .. not that there would be many vehicles coming as it was the holiday season and as there were just 4 houses in that lane ..

You can do this .. You need to push the car just half a mile and you will be in the house .. She tried to motivate herself half-heartedly ..

As she geared herself for the Herculean task ... She saw a man coming towards her with purposeful stride ... The snow flakes falling on his head really made his walk some kind of a romantic part from a film wherein the hero walks towards the heroine and then picks her up in in his arms and twirls around .. She smiled at her thought for the first time on this rotten day ..

She heaved a sigh of relief maybe she could get some help from him ...

But as he neared , his walk ,his athletic build all seemed familiar to her .. Then her stomach sank as she recognized him ..

Good grief, what had she done to deserve an encounter with him, on top of every other disaster? Why in the world was he in Shimla ,tonight of all nights? Talk about bad Karma. Clearly she had been an evil person in a previous existence and was now being punished for sins she wasn't even aware of having committed.

She contemplated to just leave everything as it is and run in full speed .. She even almost turned around .. But why should she run ...

No ways …

Staying put and being icily polite seemed a better choice than driving off and proving she was too chicken to talk to him.

Rey came alongside Kria's car and gave her a casual salute.

Kria registered the impossible sexiness of him and tried to think of anyone in the world she would like to see less at this moment ...nobody came to mind.

He gave her one of his trademark cool glances, and while inspecting the state of her car, a faint smile appeared on his lips ...

"Hey Kria " his voice deep and smooth with confidence ..

His voice still had the same effect on her as everything else about him ... She had this sudden urge to run far far away from him..

But she heard herself say .."Hi" .. Which came out of her dry mouth in a mumble .. "What are you doing here?" .. she held on to her car not to give him any signs that his mere smile , his voice , his presence made her go weak in the knees even now ..

"Holiday time " he gave a casual reply which made Kria raise her one brow in question but he didn't go in further details ..

He ran his fingers thru his hair "Having trouble with your car .. Need some help ? " he sounded so smug that Kria immediately retorted .. "No am fine "

But he being Rey .. " Just sit in the car and I will push " he ordered ..

Kria was going to protest but seeing his hands folded against his chest and that impatient glare .. She just checked the time .. It was 2 in the morning .. It's better to get this done as quickly as possible ,she thought ...

He pushed the car inside the gates of her grandma's house ..

She came out of the car .. " Thanks"

He merely gave a brief nod of acknowledgment, already walking away. He knew as well as she did that she would not say anything to him after the basic courtesies were over.

She drew in a deep breath ,aware that she couldn't let him leave without at least mentioning his award ...Her personal equation with him might be humiliating, but professional integrity required that she acknowledge his huge achievement.

"Congratulations on your Filmfare award by the way." She was too honest not to tell him the truth. "The story and the script of the movie was terrific. You deserved the win."

He stopped and turned to look at her again. "Thanks." His smile gleamed in the still darkness "I haven't quite absorbed yet that I actually won." Seeing him smile , she felt her heart tug .. she could feel a few butterflies stirring in her stomach ..

"Getting kissed by Deepika Padukone can't have been all that bad, either." She made a snide remark to cover any emotion that might have appeared on her face ..

He grinned, and this time it seemed to Kria that his amusement was genuine.

"The kiss was a definite bonus, although I was numb with shock so I didn't get to appreciate it as much as I should have done."

"That's news to me , I thought you were very used to such things " even though she didn't want but her tone had the bitter sarcasm in it .. " Next time you will be better prepared " she added ..

"Right now, I don't see that as I am no longer into writing stories or scripts for movies .. "

She felt a hint of sadness in his voice but before she could speak anything , he turned abruptly and left ...

She dismissed him from her mind as he left . He belonged in her past and she had every intention of leaving him there. Buried somewhere very deep, where he retained no power to hurt her.

At least this way she tried to convince her poor heart ...
