Chapter 46

“Sab kuch khatam hogaya hai” Geet whispered. She hadn’t moved from her position. She’d remained crumpled on the ground. Slumped against the sofa.

Maan stood by the window looking outside as she wanted space from him.

“Mere umeed, mere khwaishein, mere sapne. Sab kuch khatam hogaya hai” she mumbled and closed her eyes as more tears slid down her cheeks.

Maan closed his eyes listening to her words. This is what he had been afraid of.

The ugly truth of his past tearing them apart.

“I was living under an illusion of… I thought we were finally getting somewhere” she threw her head back. Maan turned around as she let out a gut-wrenching sob.

“Geet…” he moved towards her unable to hold back.

He kneeled and pulled her into his arms. “I’m so sorry…” he whispered.

She clutched his shirt and sobbed into his chest. “Why… did you… break my heart?”

He wanted to wind back the time and wipe everything, so he didn’t break her heart.

He hated that he was the cause of her tears.

“Kyun?” she lifted her head and looked at him. Tears stained her cheeks. Her lips trembled. “Why did you give me hope? I… I was falling in love with you… and you ruined everything”

“Don’t say that please” he cradled her cheeks in his palms.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I never thought we’d ever become something more. I just wanted to forget the past that was just filled with pain” he confessed.

“Didn’t you… think once… to tell me especially… when you promised to give us a chance the first time?” she mumbled.

“I… thought my past was over with. I was done with it, and I wanted to move on. With you” he responded.

“You’ve… you’ve got a daughter” she whispered.

He pressed his forehead to hers. “Forgive me, please”.

She pulled away from him swiping her tears and shook her head. She slowly stood placing her hand on the sofa for support.

Maan remained kneeling. “Geet… please…” he called.

She glanced over her shoulder at him. She couldn’t even form any words and headed upstairs. She disappeared into one of the rooms and climbed into the bed pulling the blanket to her neck. Tears continuously trailed down her cheeks as she thought of the little memories she had created.

She had formed dreams of their new life together. They would be moving on. They would be happy together after so long. They would have been taking the steps into their marriage together. But it was all shattered now. Everything was ruined.

Life as she knew was over.

And there was no going back...

Maan slowly climbed the stairs and stopped by the door where Geet had cried herself to sleep. He silently watched for a moment before he entered. He should let her go. He should relieve her from this relationship. It would be the right thing to do. All he had done was give her pain. She hadn’t signed up for this, yet she’d kept trying to give him a chance and save this marriage.

But he had defeated her.

His heart ached at her confession. She’d been falling in love with him, and he hadn’t even realised. He should free her so she could live her life. So, she isn’t bound to him.

However, he couldn’t do that if he wanted.

He wanted her.

She had fought for their marriage; she had fought for a chance and now it was his turn. He was going to fight for his wife, he was going to fight to save this marriage.

He couldn’t let her go. He wouldn’t.

He climbed into the bed quietly and spooned her. She shuffled and nestled into his arms as she had done for the previous nights. He dropped a kiss to her head.

“I’m going to fight for you. Fight for our marriage” he promised softly.

Naintara looked surprised at Sandeep as he requested for enough clothes to be packed for Maan and Geet.

“How long are they planning to stay?” she inquired as she climbed the stairs.

“Maan sir didn’t say. He just asked for enough clothes to be packed for maybe 2 weeks. If he needs more, he’ll let me know” Sandeep responded.

Naintara smiled and was delighted that Geet and Maan’s marriage was getting on track. She had seen the difference and changes between their relationship over the last couple of weeks. She was relieved that Geet was finally finding a place in Maan’s life especially after what she had gone through the last year.

Sandeep pulled out a suitcase from the top of the wardrobe and placed it on the bed whilst Naintara started grabbing Geet’s clothes and folded them into the suitcase.

Sandeep did the same for Maan’s clothes.

Maan waited downstairs for Geet to wake up. He had woken up early unable to sleep long, he showered and changed into a pair of black pants and white shirt. He’d sat with a steaming hot cup of coffee as he pondered over his life, his relationships, and the present situation. He rubbed a hand across his face as he sighed heavily. He wasn’t sure what he could possibly say to Geet to make her understand.

He glanced over his shoulder hearing footsteps and tensed as Geet walked into the kitchen. She had showered and changed into a pair of leggings and a long t-shirt. Her hair clipped into a messy bun. Her face pale and her eyes red from crying.

He remained silent as she walked past him and switched on the kettle. She refrained from glancing at him and made herself a cup of hot chocolate.

Geet remained standing with her back and sipped her drink.

She was almost afraid to turn around and lose her composure all over again.

She placed the cup down and drooped her head down trying to ignore that he was sat a couple of feet away.

“Geet” Maan called her name.

She clenched her jaw and tightened her hold on her cup.

She stayed silent unable to form words.

“Geet” he repeated, and she heard his chair scraping against the floor. His footsteps inched closer removing the distance between them.

She turned her head and looked up at him.

Her eyes blank and devoid of emotion. She had cried her heart out. She didn’t have anymore tears left in her. She lost every shred of hope. But she had so many questions that swirled in her mind.

“Can we talk? I’ll… I’ll tell you everything you want to know”.

She considered his words and moved into the living room. Maan followed and sat opposite her. He looked at her warily and waited for her to say something.

“Are you in contact with her?” she questioned after a couple of minutes.

Maan hesitated and Geet narrowed her eyes. “Yes. I’m in touch with her” he answered. “I only speak to her when it’s needed and… for…”

Geet understood and nodded. “Does she know you’re married?”

“Yes” he responded.

“Have you… have you spent time with your… daughter?” she struggled with the words.

“We’re meeting on occasion. Sameera and I haven’t told her yet”.

Geet gritted her teeth together to force down the lump that formed in her throat.

She had been feeling secure that she was his wife. He hadn’t looked at anyone in the office despite the numerous women that surrounded them, and he had ignored Sasha who was obsessed with him. He could have had anyone, but he didn’t let his eyes stray. She had considered at one point whether he was even interested in women.

But now the reasoning of him not straying was because he had been in love before and had his heart broken. So, he didn’t open himself to anyone, not even his own family.

Would she have been less hurt if he told her? She pondered. If he told her in the beginning that he had been married, would it have hurt less?

“Geet” Maan was suddenly on his knees clasping her hands.

She looked down at him.

“Forgive me, please. I know it’s hard and I know you’re angry…”

“I’m hurt” she pulled her hands away from him. “I’m hurt you didn’t tell me. I could have accepted… I could have accepted that you had a past had you told me. But you didn’t”.

“Please don’t say that” he shook his head.

“Whatever we had been building, it’s gone” she whispered.

“I’m not letting you go” he responded. His voice intense and determined. “I’m going to fix this. I’m going to do whatever it takes to fix our marriage”.

“This is no marriage” she pushed to her feet and moved away from him. “For it to be a marriage, there’s supposed to be foundation of trust and respect. You didn’t trust me enough to share your past. You didn’t respect me enough to tell me the truth every time I asked for a chance. You blindsided me” she stated firmly. “You made me give you a chance…” she stalked across to him and pointed at his chest with her finger. “You made promises. You made me start developing feelings for you. But you didn’t once tell me about your past. Your FIRST wife” she screamed.

Maan clasped her finger that pressed into his chest.

Geet dropped her forehead onto his chest breathing heavily. “Why did you do this?”

“I was scared” he admitted. “I was scared of losing you. I wanted to tell you, Geet and you… looked at me like I was everything you wanted. And I was scared”.

Geet lifted her head. Tears trailed down her cheek. “You should’ve told me”.

“I know, I know” he cradled her cheeks and wiped away the tears. “I’m so sorry” he apologised. “How do I fix this? How do I fix us?” he asked.

“I… I don’t know” she cried. “I… I hate you, Maan”.

“Geet” he pressed his forehead to hers feeling pained. “Please don’t say that”.

“I wish you were never in my life” she continued. “I hate you. I wish my family didn’t agree. I wish dadima hadn’t come. I hate that you are in my life. I hate you for hurting me. I hate you for breaking my heart. I hate… that I… I have any feelings for you”.

Maan lifted his head and cradled her face in his palm. “Geet… I’ll do anything. I’ll do anything in my power to fix this. Please” he replied. Hearing her admission flickered hope that he would be able to fix this. She felt something for him. He needed that.

She considered his words. “Will you give a divorce?” she asked. “Set me free”.

Maan tensed. “Please… Geet…”

“I want a divorce” she repeated and pulled away from him. She walked away leaving him alone. Maan slumped onto the sofa and clutched his head in his hands as her words echoed in his ears.

This is soo sad!!!! Geet is hurting a lot and needs a lot of time to find peace.... Maan had feelings now but he is late in the whole disclose thing!!! Had geet already know that he had a past, it could have been easier to accept and move forward..... Now it's more confusion and hurt and not knowing how to move forward.... Geet asked for divorce, but i dnt think she actually wants that..... It's a spur of the moment thing to say... To kinda hurt him as well!!!! Continue soon!!! Happy writing!!!!

Geet needs time to process this I guess 🤷‍♀️Granted that Maan should have told her earlier but that doesn’t change the fact that whatever it is, is his PAST and Geet is his present! He can’t absolve himself of his daughter’s responsibilities but can we hold that against him? He only came to know about it recently. Had it only been Sameera then his past was of no significance but him having a daughter makes things worse and significant at the same time. But no one can change their past so you can never hold that against them. What good will the divorce bring? It’s not as if Maan cheated on her! And it’s not as if she got to know all this through someone else. It was Maan himself who told her so yes she may take time but what will she really achieve by breaking off her relationship?

Thank you for another update. It was intense and had me biting my nail while reading it. All I can say is, oh dear, but I thought this would happen. Geet’s heart is broken and I agree there has been no trust or respect.Sorry Maan, but you deserve this and i’m glad you are now hurt and broken too. I should be on Geet’s side and say you should set her free but I don’t want that either. I like that you want her and you won’t let her go. I think it’s time for the arrogant and stubborn Maan to show Geet who he really is when he wants something bad. I like the possessive and jealous Maan. Let’s hope he does fight for her and not let her go, like he did Sameera, because Geet is his true love and Sameera a past mistake. Thanks again for your hard work. I love coming home after a hard days work and reading your stories.

OmgThe confession finally but then it hurts If it hurts me so much then what about geetno wonder she wants out. FreedomNow Maan is shattered What’s the point. It’s too late He has been seeing sameera and his daughter quietly behind geets back. That so not fair at all they could have met his daughter together if he has told everything long back to her when he has asked for a chance not now she might have considered it then. Normally I would say Maan deserves this but the geet too will be hurt eventually away from him so waiting to see how you make Maan suffer at the same time get themTogether. Hmmyea it is his turn now. But she wants out. So what can he do how can he convince her She will not trust him or his words Dadi will be so totally broken when she hears all this. She herself will get geet out of this marriage. I also know she will want his happinesswaiting eagerly for your neat update. Can’t wait Alamelu2023-01-06 20:53:39

Chapter 46Painful Chapter Though I feel so bad for Geet but Maan cannot give in and give her a divorce after everything she put into the relation and marriage he has to try harder and make her understand though her pain is so deep but I'm just hoping she also realizes he was in a situation and could not really talk about his past as he wanted to forget
