Chapter 11

Maan stirred awake, he turned onto his side wondering where his wife had disappeared. He turned hearing the washroom door open and out stepped Geet dressed in a pair of skinny jeans and a tank top.

Her hair wet and she patting it dry with the towel.

He watched her silently, she seemed oblivious to his eyes as she walked by and stopped in front of the mirror. She picked up the hair dryer and blow dried out her long curls, once she’d finished she slipped in her earrings and wrist watch.

The entire time, Maan watched. He couldn’t explain what he was feeling when he watched her, there was a sense of peacefulness.

Maan turned his eyes away when his wife caught him gawking, he climbed out of their bed and went into the washroom smiling inwardly to himself.

Geet thought about last night and found herself blushing, she still couldn’t digest that Maan has said that he would give them a chance.

"Someone must've gotten very lucky last night" Naintara teased as she noted Geet grinning widely.

Geet rolled her eyes and sat down on the breakfast table, "Naintara, can't I be just happy for no reason?"

"Let me think" Naintara tapped her chin, she walked around and hugged Geet from behind, "Not you baby girl" she laughed. "Is he good in bed?" she whispered.

"Don’t you have a hearing today or something? Or isn't any helpless family out there being evicted?" Geet changed the subject quickly and smiled seeing dadima joining them at the table. "Good morning dadima" she cheerfully greeted.

Dadima responded to her greeting, then asked, "Aap bohut khush lag rahe hai? Kya baat hai bete?"

"Can't I be happy for no reason?" she questioned.

"Undoubtedly, you can bete. But you're not a morning person and you're never usually this cheerful" dadima replied.

"That's what I was just saying dadima" Naintara said as she poured tea into the cups and handed them to Geet and dadima. "Veerji might know why" she said as Maan had joined them.

"Know what Naintara?" Maan looked confused and thanked Naintara as she handed him a cup of black coffee.

"You know what, I think I'm going to eat breakfast with Misha or something" Geet stood up quickly.

"Arre, we're joking" Naintara laughed as Geet waved and ran out the door.

"Bilkul pagal hai" Dadima laughed shaking her head.

Maan just looked confused.

Maan cursed the rain as he drove home later that evening, due to the traffic he arrived later than he wanted to be home. He had left the office at 6pm, not his usual 7.30pm timing. He had thought he'd spend some time this evening with Geet in an attempt to make some effort.

He parked up and sent a text to Nakul to come outside with the umbrella, he waited and noticed Nakul running towards the car. He opened the door and straightened, Nakul held the umbrella walking Maan inside.

"Where is everyone?" Maan questioned looking around. His grandmother, Naintara and Geet are usually sat in the hall talking or they're sat eating in the dining room but no one was around.

"In the backyard" Nakul informed heading into the kitchen.

"What? Do they realise how heavily its raining?" Maan murmured more to himself as he stalked towards the backyard. He pushed opened the sliding patio doors and halted.

His grandmother was sat on the swing underneath the patio roof, whereas his sister in law and his wife were completely drenched as they bounced on their feet with their arms out in the rain. Geet and Naintara held one another's hands and they twirled around giggling.

Maan's eyes trained on his wife, she'd donned a white salwar kameez that clung to her body like a second skin, the swell of her breasts, her curves, her hips were all showcasing. He looked away and approached his grandmother's side.

"Dadima, what are you allowing them two to do?" he questioned. Before dadima could even respond, Maan turned hearing his brother.

Dev called out to Naintara to come inside, both Geet and Naintara looked over.

"Whatever" Naintara stuck out her tongue and continued to play in the rain with Geet.

"Whatever…" Dev uttered and ran out, he grabbed his wife from behind and twirled her around playfully, Geet laughed stepping back as Naintara's legs swung out.

"Dev, no gudgudi, no…" Naintara laughed.

"Are you going to come in now?" he shook her playfully.

"Yes, yes" she nodded and hurried inside with Dev.

"Geet bete, come inside now" Dadima called out to her and returned inside.

Maan turned his head looking over at her, "Did you hear what dadima said?" he called out when she continued to spread her arms out and tilt her head back.

"I did" Geet answered, she didn’t move. She closed her eyes enjoying the pearl droplets showering over her. She smiled and opened her mouth giggling.

"You're going to catch a cold" he said leaning against the pillar and watched with his arms crossed in front of him.

"Its water" Geet smiled and straightened, she turned around and looked at him properly. Her smile faltered for a moment as she took in her husband, even after a full day's work his clothes were pressed straight and fitted perfectly, with his arms crossed she noticed the muscles that bunched up, yet he was tall and lean.

She looked away realising she was observing him a little too much, "You should try to enjoy the rain" she told him.

"Come inside, Geet" Maan replied and turned heading inside.

Geet glanced over and stared at his retreating back. She recalled the moment Dev had ran outside and playfully joined in for a moment before taking Naintara in.

She shook her head and headed inside understanding that wasn’t who her husband was. She wondered what he'd meant by he'll give them a try. In what sense?

After Geet had showered, she changed into a salwar suit and headed downstairs, Nakul informed that dadima had eaten and went to sleep early and assured he'd given her medicines, Dev and Naintara went out to eat tonight as it had been ages since the two were free early from their firm.

"Maan, kahan hai?" Geet then asked.

"I'd seen him go into the gym" Nakul pointed. "Should I get food ready for you?"

"Set it up for Maan and me, I'll go call him" she answered and headed towards the gym. She pushed open the door and looked around, her eyes drew instantaneously to her husband who stood a few feet away with boxing gloves on and punching rapidly. He'd donned on a black vest and tracksuit trousers, his forehead almost shining with the sweat.

Maan groaned inwardly as the image of his wife's slender body in the rain continued to play in his mind continuously, he pounded the punching bag hoping to distract himself and exert himself before he went to their bedroom.

He punched the bag harder and stepped back breathing heavily, he pulled the gloves off and decided to run when he paused. Geet was standing silently and staring.

"Geet… um did you want something?" he cleared his throat and straightened.

"Haan… woh…" she murmured trying to recall what she'd come in for, she'd been so occupied watching him work out that she hadn't realised she was actually drooling openly until he'd caught her.

"Woh?" he looked questioningly.

You should not be allowed to look like that

"Why?" Maan looked confused.

"Why? What?" Geet scrunched her nose looking confused.

"Why should I not be allowed to look like this?"

"I said that out loud?" she asked cursing herself inwardly.

Maan chuckled, "Shouldn’t I have heard that?" he teased.

"Its bad manners, I told you na, you shouldn’t eavesdrop" she shied looking bashful.

"You did say it out loud enough and in front of me" Maan smiled stepping onto the treadmill and started jogging. "Did you want something?" he asked.

"Nakul is setting the table for us" she informed. "I'm hungry, chale?"

"I'm not hungry" he answered.

"Okay" Geet offered a small smile before walking out, she stopped by the table as Nakul started setting food on the table.

"I'm not hungry, and Maan isn't either so just put everything away" she told him and didn’t offer a further explanation before heading upstairs.

She walked into the bedroom closing the door behind her hard.

How doesn’t he catch a hint? She cussed pacing the bedroom floor, how is that stupid answer supposed to be a chance? Does he even know how to try?

She huffed and climbed into bed angrily.
