                    Part 15

Hearing his exclamation, the world stilled for Manvi, but only for a few seconds, she had to be his support not his weakness, especially now.. taking her place beside him, she took a hold of his hand in hers, proving to him that she was right there just as she had always been and always would be.

Having heard all the commotion, the doctors and nurses had arrived. After they where told of Virats reaction and he gave them an account of what he was feeling/couldn't feel, they wheeled him out to do some tests to determine what the root cause could be and hopefully they would be able to fix it. After the tests where completed, he was moved back to his room, and the Doctors told them they would examine the reports and get back to them.

Meanwhile, the Chaudhry's insisted on the Vadheras to go home and rest for a bit, so they would be refreshed for the night. After much persuadance they all agreed but at the condition that the Chaudhry's would also join them as they too where tired.

Reluctantly after lots of pushing, Manvi too left with them all. She hadn't wanted to and would have been stubborn to not leave either, but then they would have made her leave at night then, when she had all intentions of staying the night in the hospital and so had given in now so she could stay later.

When everyone started to head home for the night, Manvi stubbornly remained back. Nothing could convince her to leave Virat, even the promise to be back early in the morning, and so everyone but Manvi and Viren Jiju returned home for the night.

The next two days passed in a blur, Dada Ji was sent home, where the Vadhera's and Chopra's and Chaudhry's cared for him. They all also took turns with staying with Virat. Khadhambari Ma and Manvi where unbreakable from him, although Khadhambari had to sometimes unwillingly give some of her time to her husband and Shlok, due to duty as well.

Currenlty Manvi was standing awaiting for Virats return after some more tests that the Doctors where taking of his. Just then, Jeevika Di and Shruti Ma came upto her, they had stepped out for a minute while waiting for Virat.

"Manvi..", Shruti Ma said to her, running her hand through her daughter hair, taking in how tired her daughter was, and how broken from the inside. Yet she was proud of her daughter for having remained strong on the outside for the sake of the others and Virat.

"Ma.." Manvi let herself a minute of weakness, and leaned into her mothers embrace. Holding her tight, seeping in the warmth that came off of her and taking it in as strength. Pulling away after a moment, she looked at her Ma.

"Manvi, me and the other have thought about this very carefully, so please listen and don't get hyper. We just want you to think over it once, please..", Ma said to her.

When her Ma didn't continue what she wanted to say, Manvi turned to Jeevika Di, asking her to continue.

"Man..Manvi, what Ma wants to say is..they want you, you to rethink your decision on this wedding..." Di said, shocking Manvi out of breath.

"Diii! Ma!? How could you guys..?!" was all she managed to choke out.

"Manvi please..they are just asking you to rethink it, for your sake,no- now that..now that things have changed..." Di said to her, trying to comfort her through her touch.

Just then they all looked up, to see Virat at the door of the room, being pushed in with the nurses help. He looked pale, and the look in his eyes, gave them no doubt that he had heard and understood what they had been saying. 

Manvi, glared at them, as she moved away from them and towards Virat. Taking the chair from the nurses hands she helped pull him into the room, and watched as two ward boys helped him onto the bed, as she held his hand, knowing it was hard for him to get used to it all. Then helping him sit up, she tucked his blanket around him.

Telling him she'd be right back, she stepped out into the hall, leaving the door open behind her.

A few minutes later, he heard her strong voice, answer her Mom and Di. 

"Ma, Di... I have never been so sure of my life. Not when I was deciding my college, nor my career. But today, right now, I am sure of my decision, and i will never change it for the world. Virat is my today, and he will be my tomorrow, no matter how, none of this matters. I've promised to himself and to myself to stick with him no matter what, and that is my hearts wish as well...so, so please, don't say it again, ever.." and with that, she turned back in, looking into his eyes with a smile. 

Even as her words warmed his heart, he knew what he would do then, knew what he had to do.

(Next Morning)

Virat awoke, to the strong smell of sanitization and clean air, the smell that could only belong to a hospital room. Laying in his bed, he turned his head to see who was with him right now, as the family kept switching sifts of watching over him. Glancing toward the couch, he spotted his one constant, her head resting against the armrest, knees folded up close to her chest, hands clutching her dupatta to her neck. Putting all his weight on his arms, he lifted himself into a siting position.

Seeing her here now, like this, shook his core. His life was now at a turn where he didn't even know what would be his next move. How could he drag her along with him, to such an unknown and unsure world. He, He was..he was paralyzed for gods sake. He was going to have a hell of a time dealing with it, then how could he ask her to accompany him to hell? He couldn't, he simply couldn't.

As if she could sense his gaze on her, she blinked her eyes open, and locked them with his. Holding his hand out for her, he motioned for her to come towards him. He watched as she calmly got up and came to him, as she placed her hand in his, he rested it on his chest, and with the strength that was still in his arms, he placed his hands on her hips, and lifted her up and over as she squealed with surprise and joy, sitting her in his lap. He watched her eyes shine with happiness and playfulness after what seemed like days, at his act. 

As she rested her forehead on his, he took a deep breath, as if taking in strength from her to say what he was going to say.

"Manvi..", he started, getting her full attention, he watched as apprehension dawned on her, and she gave him her full attention.

"Look Manvi, th-this isn't easy, not for me, not for anyone, and neither for you. I see you, see you being strong for everyone, for me..but..but i can't Manvi...i just can't..", he said, his voice breaking, as he tore his eyes away from her haunting ones as she read his unsaid words.

"But I will Virat..I will. Even if you refuse to let me in, i will come in, and i will become your half in all ways that matter, even as you can't let it happen. Because thats who i am, this doesn't matter. Please know and understand it, yo-your di-disability doesn't matter. You matter, and i know my will and strength will get us through it together. So don't you ever, Ever say anything like this again! I won't leave you, not today and not tomorrow." she said to him, looking him directly in his eyes.

Virat slumped back, closing his eyes with a sigh. Even as he had told her he couldn't, he knew he wanted to, needed to have her as his. If she had considered his words, he wonld have broken that last inch. He felt her shake slightly, as she buried her face in his neck, and hugged herself to him. Moving his arms around her, he wrapped her in his arms, assuring her that now that he had her answer in this new phase. He would never push her away, not at the cost of hurting her or breaking her, he was to selfish for that. Together, held safe in each others arms and warmth they slipped into another calm sleep, that stored them both of strength to face what ever would hit them next.
