Chapter 44:

A day to Remember

It was a day which no one in Khurana Mansion would ever forget. After shamelessly announcing to the elders that he had no intensions of waiting for three month for his wedding, Dadi and Nani gave in and moved the wedding to a closer date. But the women wouldn't let Maan have his way and as a punishment for his bossy behaviour they forbid him to meet Geet before their big day. Maan had been outraged but then, he couldn't say anything against his Mamma and Maa. Only he knows how he had spent all this time without his Mishti. He had on multiple occasions tried to meet Geet secretly but had failed bitterly as he was always caught by someone or the other.

Today, though, his wait was over. He was sitting on the mandap and all his colleagues and brothers were teasing him for being impatient. The sight of his bride, dressed in red, walking down the stairs left not only him speechless. The pandit performed an express wedding as Maan had made him clear that every minute he will save, he will get paid better. Geet didn't look up but she could feel everyone's gaze on her. During the entire wedding, her heart felt immense happiness. She was marrying the love of her life, she was coming into a family which welcomed her with open arms and loads of love and who were family from the start. She also thought how her mother and Masi had suffered in their marriages but she was sure that Maan will keep her happy, always. Once the wedding was over and Geet's bidaai was performed, Dev, Vicky and Annie handed Maan their gift. Maan had tears in his eyes when he saw the silver bracelet with the inscription on it. He kissed it and embraced his siblings. Meera and Pinky were up to no good all of the time. MK and DD had now officially become their jiju and this gave them the right as saalis to play a little prank on him.

Once everyone retired to their rooms and the girls asked for an incredibly huge amount of money from Maan to allow him into his own room, he closed the door and locked it. He sighed in relief; finally he was alone with Geet. Geet was sitting on the decorated bed, nervously murdering her dupatta. Maan sat down next to her and opened his mouth to say something. He had written a small speech about what he had wanted to say to Geet, as a little welcome into his life but he forgot everything.

He held up his hand to lift her dupatta but she inched away.

"Kya Geet? Nervous?" Geet nodded. Maan smirked.

"Geet, yaad haina, six babies' wali baat? I am not justified with your explanation." Geet turned her head sideways as if she didn't know what he was talking about.

"Don't tell me you forgot." Maan was a little surprised. He sincerely explained in detail what had happened the evening of their engagement and how he was now set on having those six little babies of his.

"Mujhe to che chahiye Geet. Aur wo bhi jitni jaldi hosake..." He lifted the veil and fell of the bed from shock.

Vicky rolled over laughing but to add to Maan's misery, Dev, Naintara, Meera, Pinky, Adi, Yash and Annie came out of hiding as well. The girls had made the boys wait in the room and after drawing the lot, Vicky had to play the bride. Geet was standing in one corner; head bend in embarrassment and face red as a tomato.

"Six babies hu bhai. Aur wo bhi jitni jaldi. Give bhabi a break." Dev wiped his tears which had escaped after the heavy laughing session. Maan just wanted the ground to break open and swallow him right there and then. Bad enough he had actually told them all the details but Pinky, Meera and Adi were present, too, which will make it hard for him to face them in office now.      

Maan tried to make an angry face but he failed. After all these years he actually felt nice being fooled. Having his siblings, friends and wife with him erased even the last bit of pain and remorse he had held within him. He was actually the same old Maan, who he was before the venom named Samira had entered his life.    

Once Maan and Geet had been embarrassed enough and they were left alone, Maan held Geet tight in her embrace. They didn't say anything, no words were needed. Maan wanted to tell Geet one thing though.

"Geet, mujhe tumhe ek khabar deni hain. It might not be the best time to say this but I want it out now."

"Boliye."

"Rahul ki death hogae." He heard Geet's sharp intake of breath.

"Kya aap ne…?" Geet didn't even want to think about that.

"Nahin nahin. I wanted him to be punished but not like this. Actually, he was drunk and got run over by a car." Geet didn't know why Maan had chosen this particular time to tell her about this. Maybe so that she could finally forget her past and move on happily with Maan. Yes, this must be it. Today was the start to a wonderful new journey of their life with the man of her dream, her Dusht Daanav on her side.
