Meera too couldn't sleep in the room as all the ladies were busy chit-chatting.

When everyone went to doses of sleeping she came out of the room to drink water .

The duplex has two kitchens one downstairs and another one upstairs.

Suddenly she bumped into a person before she screamed with a strong hand grabbed on her mouth and back and pinned her against the wall ..

Meera thought her heart would stop beating but in reality, it was racing as if she was taking part in a marathon.

She felt warm breathing near her left ear and neckline

Suddenly a husky voice said in undertone so only she could hear “Shhhh!!! Meera doesn't shout, it's me Ariyan. If anyone hears you screaming then nobody will leave us to tease you for the rest of the remaining days of this year “

Ariyan removed his hands, and she began to take rapid breaths. Meera’s heart beat which grew faster began to normalise gradually.

“ Did you know you make me scared? I thought my heart almost came out of my throat! “ Meera was still taking heavy breathing, she put her right hand close to her chest to try to calm down herself.

Ariyan couldn't see her face but could understand her dark shadow-like figure in the semi-darkness.

“ Dr. Meera who never dared to see dead bodies in the autopsy room, but became frightened in darkness. Even when her handsome boyfriend is with her. Quite strange !!!

Meera heard him laugh a little “ That is my work. I'm a forensic pathologist. I don't cut dead bodies, I only find out the cause of death by doing chemical tests on the samples taken from them. the crime scenes and also victims’ bodies in the laboratory “

"Oh okay. But you have to see the organs of dead bodies from head to toe right???

“ Yeah, kind of but it depends on the types of death the victims have suffered. By the way, what are you doing here late at night? I came to drink water as there wasn't any left in our room “

" I couldn't sleep in the room”

" What??? “

" Shhhhh!!! “ Ariyan put his index on his lips “ Madam please speak low unless if anyone hears us you don't know how they will make fun of us !"

“ Ops … sorry.. but couldn't you sleep??" Meera shrugged her shoulder

" Okay let's go to the balcony, anyone can come here and hear us “

" Okay “ She agreed with him

Ariyan held her right hand, interlocked the fingers, and started walking towards the balcony side.

They came and stood holding the thick iron railing of the balcony, from where the beautiful view of the Arabian Sea came into their view. In the vast sky above with few stars twinkling, the cold Breeze of Dec kissing their exposed skin.

Both of them shivered.

Ariyan shifted his gaze from the gorgeous view in front to the beautiful lady standing before him.

“ I couldn't sleep because of the snoring of Siddharth bro. He was snoring with open mouth “

Meera burst out laughing.

“ Hey madam don't laugh"

“ Okay okay … I know.. but you should tell him at least then !"

“ What would I tell him that bhaiya don't snore I can't sleep… if you don't stop snoring I will put cotton in your nostrils “

Meera’s giggles increase in decibels" Tum bhi na… just start to irritate in such a tiny issue. Anyway, it's just a matter of one night. Your elder brother and sister-in-law are so happy at least for the sake of them adjusting to this. Even Prithvi bhaiya is doing compromise because of that small kid”

Ariyan giggles" True. Agree. many days after we families come close together. Unless I don't like to go back to Malhotra Mansi. That doesn't feel like a home anymore. Every day they just think about money, running behind status."

Meera goes silent hearing him. She thought he had lots of outbursts to tell her so she became a good listener to him that time.

“ Dad is luring me to take the CEO position of Malhotra company. I'm just twenty-six years old. How could I take such a huge responsibility? I don't have the experience to handle a huge emperor like the Malhotra company. Life has changed Meera. And I became frustrated because of all these things. “

He felt her hand over his right shoulder, and he tried to calm down his restless mind “ Don't worry things will be alright all you have to wait. “

Ariyan didn't answer back.

" And why are you taking everything as if he cannot do anything? Why don't you take it as a challenge? Ariyan, life has never been so easy for any human being. If there's any difficulty, perhaps some good outcome will be there. If you want to take the pearl you have to jump into the depths of the ocean.

I'm not saying that whatever is happening to you is right. Why don't you ask for help from your brother? I believe he will not disappoint you. And in this process, you both brothers will be in touch. And maybe Uncle will realise the worth of Prithvi Bhaiya and how he is important to them. Presence of big brother's hands over the youngest shoulder. Sometimes elders make mistakes but being the youngest is not your duty to make them realise their mistakes too.

Ariyan was listening to Meera’s words without breaking concentration “ Thank you Meera for making me understand. But I'm worried about getting any help from my brother. He was asked to leave the home by Bade Papa, he was so angry with him. And if I ask for help from my brother there's a possibility of making him hurt “

" He will not hurt, I'm telling you. If they are angry with you then they will never welcome you into their new world. He will be delighted to help his younger brother who at least considers him as his closest one and admires him to be capable enough to show him the right direction for his career.

Trust me the eldest will always be the shadow of a father. “

Meera felt Ariyan’s eyes over her. Suddenly her heartbeat grew faster on feeling the mere thought of his strong arms gripping around her waist.

“ Thanks a lot, Meera… you don't know how much you lessen the burden of worries from my shoulders” Ariyan spun himself completely to her small frame and hugged her tightly in his chest.

Meera felt the uprising vibration of his chest against her. She couldn't conclude whether it was his heart or her.

Ariyan kissed her forehead gently. Meera Shivered in his strong grips and also felt protected. Although they had been in a relationship for eight months but never been that close as tonight.

She always felt secure as he never forced her to do anything against her will and also supported her like a human. That's the thing she likes about him.

Ariyan’s eyes remained locked against her orbs, gradually his eyes came down and rested on her lips, he sensed the growing nervousness in her body.

He left her by saying “It's too late now let's go to sleep… unless anyone comes here …

Ariyan stopped in the middle as he felt something that he never expected tonight.

Meera lifted on her toes so that she could reach the height of him. She kissed him gently. It wasn't a longer kiss but Ariyan felt his entire body go frozen because she touched her lips than the cold weather of December.

Meera spun around and began to run but she halted midway as she realised he had caught her by her right wrist.

She closed her eyes due to nervousness. With each footsteps of him seems to be raising her heartbeat in passing seconds. She felt his masculine chest against her back. It was then he stretched out his hands and fondled her in his arms.

Before a blink, he turned her opposite to him. His hands reached to cup her cheeks.

Ariyan holds his heavy breathing preparing himself to consume till the last sip of sweet poison from her lips.

When they broke the kiss her head was spinning with a lack of oxygen in her brain.

Meera didn't make any eye contact with him nor did she speak anything to him after. She walked straight towards the room where the rest of the females were sleeping peacefully.

Ariyan came to her and touched her face, coming in close and looking down at her.

Meera's head went back as he lifted her chin up

“ Good night !!! Ab itna metha khane k baad neend toh ani hi hai!"

He hovers close, his lips an inch from her. He gave a peck on her lips. It was a short kiss yet she found it was sensational and pure.

Meera smiled at him silently “ Good night Ariyan"

He left. So she went into the room.

As the year drew to a close, Prithvi and Sanyogita received an elegant invitation card to their business partner's engagement ceremony, scheduled for December 29th. The entire family was invited, but Shambhavi opted to stay behind, enthralled by the company of her old friend who had come to visit. Nilima, too, excused herself, preferring the comfort of home to the revelry of parties.

The engagement ceremony unfolded with understated elegance, a testament to the host's refined taste. As the evening wore on, Prithvi and Sanyogita made their excuses, concern for their grandmother's well-being weighing heavily on their minds. As they stepped out into the crisp night air, the familiar banter between them resumed, a comforting ritual that never failed to bring smiles to their faces.

"You know, I was thinking," Prithvi said, his eyes glinting with mischief, "maybe we should start a betting pool on how long it takes for the happy couple to realize they're mismatched."

Sanyogita playfully rolled her eyes. "Oh please, you're just sore because you lost the last bet we made."

Their teasing continued, a gentle back-and-forth that filled the silence between them, as they made their way home, lost in their own little world of memories and laughter.

"The couple looked stunning together, didn't they?" Sanyogita whispered, her voice barely audible over the soft hum of the Mercedes Benz Class S's engine.

"Yes, Jaan," Prithvi replied, his eyes fixed on the road ahead as he steered with one hand, his other arm wrapping around Sanyogita's shoulders.

"What I loved most was how naturally happy the bride looked," Sanyogita continued, her head nestling into the warmth of Prithvi's shoulder. "Her eyes were shimmering with joy."

Prithvi's gaze softened, his thoughts drifting back to their own engagement night. "It reminds me of our special night, Jaan... do you remember how long it took me to read my vows?" he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Sanyogita's gentle laughter filled the car, her fingers intertwining with Prithvi's as they drove through the night, lost in the memories of their love story. The soft glow of the dashboard lights illuminated their entwined hands, a symbol of their enduring bond.

Sanyogita's brows shot up, her eyes sparkling with mirth. "Why are you saying you're the one who was nervous, when you were the one gazing at me with an open mouth and grinning like a fool during our ring ceremony?" She smirked, her voice dripping with teasing amusement.

Prithvi chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Ah, but who was giving me the wild cat look when my batchmates were complimenting me? Madam, you turned into a Gulab Jamun that night, your jealousy was so sweet!"

Sanyogita's face went blank, her mouth agape, before she burst out laughing. "Huh! I was jealous of you? You're the one who was green with envy when Ariyan's friends, even your Australian buddy, were chatting with me. And don't forget, you cursed Vishal Kapoor when he dared to talk to me!"

Prithvi's expression turned sheepish at the mention of Vishal, his eyes darting away before returning to Sanyogita's playful gaze. She winked at him, her fingers poking his ribs, and he couldn't help but laugh, the sound filling the car with warmth and joy.

Sanyogita's giggles filled the car, her eyes sparkling like diamonds in the dim light. Her hair, fragrant with the scent of jasmine, cascaded down her back like a waterfall at night. "You're still jealous of Vishal, I can see it!" she teased, her voice husky and playful. "He was braver than you, at least he approached me after that party. You, on the other hand, couldn't even muster the courage to tell me how you felt."

Prithvi's expression turned sheepish, his eyes locking onto hers like a magnet. His arms, strong and comforting, held her close, his fingers tracing gentle patterns on her skin.

"It's your fault you couldn't catch my motive," he said, a hint of playful defensiveness in his voice. "I gave you that burdensome work on purpose, knowing Vishal wanted to meet you outside. I was testing you, Jaan."

Sanyogita's grin widened, her fingers poking his ribs again, sending shivers down his spine. "Achaa... it was me who cleared him," she said, her voice dripping with amusement. "I wasn't interested in him, and that's why he stopped chasing me after that."

She winked, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "But if anyone approaches me now, what will you do, hmm?"

He knew it was her gaming "What he will do " She enjoyed him tease

The irony of it all was almost poetic. Eight long years, they had been distanced apart, carrying the weight of unrequited love without even realizing it. The pain, the longing, the what-ifs – all had been endured in silence, each unaware of the other's true feelings. Yet, here they were, laughing together like the carefree souls they once were, before life had taken them on separate journeys.

The absurdity of it all struck them both, and they couldn't help but marvel at the twists and turns that had brought them full circle. The agony of their past now seemed like a distant memory, a reminder that nothing in life is permanent – not even heartache. Time, it seemed, had a way of healing all wounds, and theirs was no exception.

As they sat together, hands entwined, and hearts full of joy, they knew that this was what life was all about – embracing the ups and downs, and finding solace in the love that remained constant. And in this moment, they knew that their love would forever be the anchor that held them together, no matter what life threw their way.

Prithvi's gaze turned intense, his arms tightening around her like a vice. His eyes, burning with passion, seemed to bore into her soul. "I won't let anyone take you away from me, Jaan," he whispered, his voice low and husky.

"" You know the answer I'll kill him simply . You're mine ." His words sent shivers down her spine, and she felt her heart skip a beat.

She laughed, the sound music to his ears, and nestled deeper into his embrace, feeling the warmth of their love envelop her like a cocoon.

Sanyogita's laughter abruptly ceased, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "But I want to chase someone," she whispered, her voice husky and playful, her lips curling into a sly smile.

Prithvi's brow furrowed, intrigued, his eyes locked onto hers. "Who?" he asked, his voice low and curious, his head tilting slightly to the side.

Sanyogita's fingers danced across his cheek, her nail tracing a path towards his lips, sending shivers down his spine. She leaned in, her breath hot against his face, her voice barely audible. "You want to hear the name?"

Her words sent a thrill through Prithvi's body, his heart racing with anticipation. Sanyogita's heavy breathing caressed his face, her lips inches from his ear, before she let out a loud, "Aaaaaaaaaa!" and burst into giggles, her eyes sparkling with mirth.

Prithvi pulled her closer, his arms wrapping around her waist, his hands splayed across her back. "Jaan, let's get home..." he trailed off, his voice laced with promise, his eyes burning with desire.

"Then I'll show you who'll be doing the chasing tonight," he teased, his voice dripping with seduction, her fingers tracing patterns on his chest.

Sanyogita rolled her eyes as his word turned her red.

Just then, the car sputtered and came to a halt on the deserted road, the only sound of the creaking of trees and distant crickets. Sanyogita erupted into laughter, her eyes shining with mirth. "Look, even the car is giving us a sign!"

Prithvi's cheeks flushed, a sheepish grin spreading across his face as he gazed at Sanyogita, her joy infectious. He couldn't help but smile, his heart swelling with love for this captivating woman.

Yet, he teased her further, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Jaan, just let us reach home... aaj raat har ek cheez ka badla bare Pyaar se loonga tumse" (Tonight, I'll take revenge for everything with love).

Sanyogita rolled her eyes, her hand on his chest, pushing him away, her gaze locked onto his. "My dear husband, baatein baad mein" (We'll talk later). "At first, just go and check why the car stopped here all of a sudden."

Prithvi's eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned in, his face inches from Sanyogita's. "Don't you think it will be a romantic night date for us... you, me, and this lonely road?" His voice was low and husky, his breath caressing her skin.

Sanyogita's expression turned skeptical, her eyes narrowing slightly. "No, my dear husband, it doesn't look romantic anymore." She pushed him away, her hands on his chest. "We're already late, and just check outside what happened to the car."

Prithvi's face fell, his hands rubbing together in a hopeless gesture. "Chaal, Prithvi biwi ki baat manni toh padhegi" (Looks like I'll have to listen to my wife's words).

Sanyogita threw him an attitude-filled glance, her eyebrow arched, her lips pursed. "Go, check the car. Now."

Prithvi sighed, his shoulders sagging in defeat, but a small smile played on his lips as he opened the door and stepped out into the darkness. The only sound was the creaking of the car door and the distant hum of crickets, a stark contrast to the tension-filled air inside the car.

As Prithvi walked towards the front of the car, his footsteps echoed through the night, his figure silhouetted against the moonlit sky. Sanyogita watched him, her eyes fixed on his retreating back, a mix of emotions swirling inside her.

Prithvi came down from the car and popped the hood and opened it in this process it would dissipate some of the heat away from the engine. This will allow the cooling fans to continue running without running the engine, which will help speed up the cooling process.

He waited for some time And asked Sanyogita to switch off the AC and roll down the window glasses. In the end, she came out of the car. He asked her for water which was kept in a bottle. She did.

In the process, the surroundings were very creepy. No one was there as it was far away from the main city. Sanyogita shivered as the cold breeze crushed against the exposed skin of her arms and the remaining portion peeked out of the saree. She took the jacket inside the car wore it and slammed the door shut behind her.

Prithvi was there waiting for the cooling of the engine. Then wait minutes till opening the radiator cap. This cooling process could take as long as 30-45 minutes but would save them from danger

Sanyogita took slow steps as if she was making a circle around her, while keeping her hands in the air, enjoying the lonely night with her husband.

Prithvi was smiling when he took a glance back at her, he nodded his head sideways. She again turned into a small kid.

Prithvi glanced at his wristwatch at 2:30 in the night. He was thinking if they could leave the place it would be better. It was near the forest side. There was a buzzing of insects and the barking of dogs and wild animals.

Sanyogita was busy in her world. Suddenly she heard something "hish hish" as if the waving of leaves, and she stopped roaming. She glanced back at Prithvi; he was still busy with his work. She again heard the creepy sound. She turned back and started to take steps ahead.

As she was walking forward again heard a "hush.. hush " sound. Sanyogita turned her head and it was coming from the left side.

With an ominous curiosity, she changed her direction, suddenly she heard a whimpering sound but it was still unclear to her. She took a few more steps towards the bushes, a little beyond through the darkness a figure was trying to come out, it was trying its best to hold something as support.

Suddenly Sanyogita's whole body got frozen. She couldn't think of breathing. Her pupils grew dilated like never before. She thought her heart almost stopped but in reality, it was racing faster. Her throat went dry.

When the figure came and stood exactly in front of her.

"Paani...paani..." The desperate plea for water cut through the darkness, shattering Sanyogita's trance-like state. She stood frozen, her eyes fixed on the figure before her, a girl who looked like she had been through a nightmare. The girl's left eye, a piercing brown, peeked through the tangled mess of her hair, which was stuck to her face with dirt and blood.

Sanyogita's gaze took in the girl's battered body, her skin a canvas of bruises, cuts, and scrapes. Blood oozed from her wounds, tracing a gruesome path down her inner thighs, like a macabre work of art. The girl's nakedness was a stark reminder of her vulnerability, her exposure to the elements and the cruelty of the world.

As Sanyogita's mind struggled to process the horror before her, Prithvi's voice pierced the air, "Sanyo!!!!Sanyooo!! Sanyogita!" He was searching for her, his tone laced with worry and concern.

But before he could reach her, a blood-curdling scream tore through the night, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!"

The sound sent shivers down Sanyogita's spine, her heart racing with fear, as the girl's eyes locked onto hers, pleading for help, for water, for salvation. The darkness seemed to close in around them, the only sound the girl's ragged breathing, and Sanyogita's own heartbeat, pounding in her chest like a drum.
