Free
Why can’t I just be free?
They say I am a strange ‘he’,
But how do I tell them I am not,
The man they wanted me to be.
There’s so much I have to fear,
But I’ll only have to bear,
For I know that if they knew the truth,
They’ll toss me off a pier.
Do I change my appearance?
Or is the right path, perseverance?
I simply wish for them to accept me,
Without noticing any difference.
All I ever wanted was to be free,
To live as the woman I was always meant to be,
And I don’t want to live in shadows any longer,
So please, just let me be.
