OH MY GOD – WHAT AMATCH THAT HAD BEEN!

HOWEVER THE ENTIREINDIAN TEAM WAS VERY GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT AS ALWAYS BECAUSE NO MATTER THE RESULTIT HAD BEEN AN AMAZING GAME OF CRICKET FOR ALL.

So post all thatthey had a little break of about ten days in which My Hoodie Guy was engrossedin the Business Boardrooms with his Dad.

Oh and on that Note– I know that his entire family has been waiting to meet me and speak with metoo – and the same goes for me of course, but then I haven’t spoken to anyonefrom his side yet because I feel like I want to meet them first, and I askedArnav to convey my this message to them that the only reason I hadn’t spoken tohis sister Anjali and his Mom yet was because – that was something I did notwant to do Online.

AS IN THEY DID MEETTHE CAP AND THE CHEENAI TEAM AGAIN IN THE FINALE AND THIS TIME – THE MUMBAITEAM CLINCHED THE TITLE!!!!

AND OH MY GOD – THEIPL SEASON HAD BEEN FABULOUS FOR US TOO AS IN AT HIT WICKET YOUR TONGUE BECAUSEWE DID EXTREMELY WELL IN THE BUSINESS, BECAUSE OF THE DAILY SCREENINGS.

AND ITS BEENAMAZING FOR BUSINESS AFTER THAT AS WELL – BECAUSE OF THIS ENTIRE CRICKETINGSCHEDULE FOR BOTH THE INDIAN TEAM AND OUR SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM BECAUSE IT WASLIKE WHEN INDIA’S TOURS AND MATCHES WEREN’T ON – OUR HOME TEAM’S SOUTH AFRICA’SGAMES AND TOURS WERE ON – SO FOR US IT WAS LIKE A WIN WIN – FULL HOUSE KIND OFSITUATION ANYWAY.

SO THEN A LITTLEAFTER A WEEK’S BREAK POST THE IPL – THEY HEADED TO ENGLAND FOR THE NATWESTTRIANGULAR TOURNAMENT WITH ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA FOR THREE WEEKS- AND ENGLANDTHAT CLINCHED THE TEST SERIES WITH A WIN AMONGST THE THREE COUNTRIES ANDMATCHES AND INDIA HAD WON THE ODI SERIES OVER AUSTRALIA AND ENGLAND AND THENFOR THE T20 SERIES – INDIA PLAYED WITH AUSTRALIA IN THE FINALS BUT AUSTRALIACLINCHED THE T20 SERIES.

OVER ALL ACCORDINGTO MY HOODIE GUY IT HAD BEEN A THRILLING TOURNAMENT AND AN AMAZING EXPREIENCE.

AND INDIA HADBEATEN PAKISTAN IN THE MOST THRILLING GAME I HAD WITNESSED IN THE SEMI FINALS OFTHE ASIA CUP TO REACH THE FINALS WITH SRI LANKA AND THEN WHAT A BLOODY GAMETHAT WAS.

I am stopped in my chainof thoughts as the Chef tells me that the food will be ready in a couple ofminutes and that he will send it out and I now give him a grin and a nod as Imake my way out of the working kitchen.

And ohh now as Isee the highlights almost come to an end I know they will be replaying the postpresentation and the awards and then also replay the interview he had – hadwith the entertainment reports about His Mysterious Wifi by the end of it.

I am now sipping onsome water as I help out Stacey at the till and once she’s comfortable withwhat she wanted, I step back towards the drinks area and I start to get somehot drinks ready for Zara and Diya and the beers ready for Rahul, Asher andZain.

And Varun quicklyjumps in from the side as he says that he will take care of it.

I smile as I lethim and I step aside and I take out my phone and I start re- reading my textswith Arnav from a while ago.

And I feel my ownheart ache with longing again.

I mean as I readwhat hes written in that second text of his, I feel like I feel pretty much thesame.

As in until now –he was in a different country but now he is landing in South Africa soon andits crazyily difficult to know that he is so near and yet I have to wait forthis aching 40 more days to see him.

Goddammit.

I close my eyes onreflex as I revisit all the overwhelming vulnerable emotions we have both been throughin all these months when we have missed each other terribly.

And these last 40days now seem to be like that final lap.

I Get into myStudio and I lock my door and I sit on my bed nervously as I take out my phone.

I take a deepbreathe as I write a text to him on Whtsapp.

Me : Dear Sir, Iknow it is late in the night for you, and you are all still at Cap’s in theparty,but I wanted to discuss something with you, its important, can we talkfor just five minutes if you are free??

I tap send.

My phone beepsimmediately : yes Khushi we can talk.I just left Cap’s house.everyone isstarting to leave, I think so is Arnav, he was just saying bye to everyone.

Me : ok sir..can Icall you now?

But before I couldcall him, my phone buzzes on the incoming voice call on whtsapp and its Coachand I take a deep breathe as I pick up the phone and I say – “ hello sir…I amso sorry to trouble you at this hour…”

Coach – “ don’tworry about it Khushi beta..tell me what is it?? I am sure its important and isabout Arnav..”

I take a deepbreathe and I say honestly – “ so sir…as I promised to you, Arnav has nottravelled here to see me in all these months, it wasn’t easy for us ofcoursebut we pulled through…”

Coach – “ and I amvery happy Khushi…that you made me see my wrong all those months ago…you werealways right…why use hate and hurt when one can use love?? And he has beentruly happy and all that positivity has totally done wonders to his game tooand I am proud off you and him…”

I take a deepbreathe – “ thank you sir…so like I told you he doesn’t know about you comingto find me etc..i turned things around to my side and made Arnav believe that Ineeded this from him and I knew he would have agreed easily because there isn’tanything he wouldn’t do for me..and Sir..until now hes been away from here, butnow you all are landing in Johannesburg and I just had a thought that I know Ipromised you that I will not call Arnav to cape town until he comes here bydefault by matches and not see him too in between so that it doesn’t distracthim…but maybe if I can travel to Johanessburg sir just to see him for a coupleof hours maybe, before the world cup begins, and I promise to you that I willthen see him only after the world cup…but sir..i just feel like even thesecouple of hours will do both of us a lot of good…and I could have done thisanyway, but I feel like it will be unfair to the promise I made you…so that iswhy I called…If you say this wont be a distraction to Arnav at the most crucialtime…then maybe I can plan this on my end and surprise him, it will make himvery very happy Sir..”

I CROSS  MY FINGERS AS I WAIT FOR HIS RESPONSE.

I hear him take adeep breathe on the other end and he says – “ so Khushi…in all these monthsseeing Arnav play so wonderfully and just see him genuinely being so happy andat peace everyday, and all that he has been doing too to keep the media swirlaround in circles until you both are ready to talk about it, I have kind ofstarted to believe that You can never be a distraction for him, I think you arehis strength Khushi, so yes..i think it will be a very good idea for you to seehim for a bit before the world cup begins, you are right, your surprise willmake him very very happy and I wouldn’t mind that…as in by now I know that itwill only get channelised positively into his game…”

I JUMP UP IN GLEE.

I Say excitedly – “oh my god…thank you sir…and I promise it will just be for a couple of hoursmaybe, and I will not take advantage of your trust in me about not being adistraction for him until world cup is over and will only see him post thisafter the world cup…”

Coach – “ I trustyou Khushi…I know you will only do the best in Arnav’s interest always…”

I say excitedly – “thank you, thank you so much Sir…you cant believe how happy I am with this…ohmy god…this is everything..thank you so much Sir..”

I now hear him asksoftly – “ but will you be ok to travel to Johannesuburg? Will you take theplane????”

I admit honestly –“ sir, I have worked so much in all these months on my fears and anxieties tooand I am more than ready to sit on the plane too but I want to sit with Arnavfirst time around, so I will wait, I will probably take the bus toJohannesburg…it’s a eighteen hour ride or maybe I will just take thetrain…there is one that leaves tomorrow morning, and it’s a longer journey butI think ill take that on the way up to Johannesburg and on the way back I willtake the bus and I will talk to Ravi to help me plan a surprise as in to getArnav to where I am, since I do not want to create any other publicity for nowthat will distract the world from focusing on talking about Arnav’sperformance…”

I can hear a smilein his voice now as he says – “ a wonderful idea Khushi…let me know if you needany secret help from me..”
