Chapter 5
A woman walks out of the hospital room with a beaming smile on her face, her happiness lighting the room, everything she desired to have was now becoming true. She danced towards her car, and drove off home, never been so happy before. At home she twirled and danced around smiling and having a great time, not noticing her husband's constant gaze on her eyes. He eyed her curiously, surprised by the sudden change of emotions she had been going through this week, after she had a miscarriage, and now she was smiling like a silly goof, he chuckled under his breath and walked near her.
Hmm, someone seems to be extremely happy he muttered under his breath, too light for the young woman to hear. She twirled and quickly stopped, but never leaving her eyes off his face or allowing the smile to disappear, he watched her with curiosity. "I am pregnant, Suryaban!" her echoes filled the room, everything suddenly appeared so colorful. Suryaban's eyes popped wide, "you mean, you mean Karan is going to have a sibling?"
"no the kid next door is! Goodness Surya, that's exactly what I mean, your going to be a father! I just found out a few hours ago, but I can't seem to allow the happiness to die down, I am so happy today that its difficult to stop smiling!" she eyed him from the corner of her eyes to see his expression, bemused, rather. She sighed, it was going to take a while before he realized she indeed was pregnant.
Suryaban's forehead creased into confusion, "but Gayatri, you just …what I mean to say is, it happened just three weeks ago how could you become pregnant so quickly?" Gayatri turned towards him her eyes narrowing but she never let sadness creep back; "come with me, Surya I'll show you!" Taking his hand in hers both walked out the door and into the car. The drive where Gayatri was headed worried Suryaban, he was scared, this was a graveyard. "Let's go, I want to show you something!"
Both walked with confidence towards their unborn child's grave, being seven months pregnant at the time, the gender was revealed to them, they were expecting a daughter. The tomb read In Loving Memory Of Asha Sharma. Gayatri wiped the tears trickling down her eyes and allowed her gaze to wonder in search of one grave, that stood out to her. "Surya, there it is, let's go there!" Gayatri pointed towards a grave, where the tombstones were linked, covered in fresh roses. Both stood in front of the graves, reading the names "in Loving Memory of Kripa Kaur and Angad Kapoor, lovers never given the chance to unite, January 22nd,1985. "Surya I was sitting on that bench crying my heart out for my Asha when suddenly I felt as though someone was comforting me, a young woman telling me not to cry and that God had decided to give me my child back. I was sitting here Surya, but I feel connected to these two in some way, both died 3 years ago and today I feel as if I am complete after seeing their graves. I know its something terrible to say but something tells me, a good deed has been done today!"
Suryaban smiled at Gayatri, and pulled her into a hug not noticing a dead rose glow brightly back to its wonderful wild self. "I believe you Gayatri, if the Lord has decided to give us our child back, I couldn't be more than happier, and if he desires to have some good done through us, I am more than willing to do so!"
4 Months later, in Mumbai Hospital, a woman is screaming in labor, the doctors rush her towards the Labor room where she naturally gives birth to a healthy young baby boy. The young man watches in awe at his son and glances at his wife now at ease, "you did it Naina, you did it!" Naina turned and smiled at him, glancing towards the child one last before the nurse took him away to be cleaned up, "thank you Dilip, for this precious gift!" Dilip wiped her tears and pulled her into a hug.
An hour later two nurses walked into the room, where Naina was switched into after she gave birth. "Congratulations ma'am, you have a very cute son!" the elderly lady said handing over the boy to him and softly asked, "what will you name the newborn?" Dilip and Naina glanced at one another and blurted out at the same time, "Angad!" the nurse smiled at the couple peacefully while Dilip and Naina looked at one another baffled; but slowly bringing a smile to their lips! "Alright than Mr. and Mrs. Khanna, I will just have his birth information printed out, and you will receive the birth certificate in a moment.
Naina smiled at the women as they walked out, she glanced back at a sleeping Angad in her arms, and placed a soft kiss on his forehead, gently rocking him to sleep whenever his cute little eyes opened. Dilip sat next to Naina pulling her against his chest as both watched the innocent little child fill their world, they had been trying for so many years to have a child and today the Lord had granted their wish! He had given them a son, ten years after their eldest son was born. The day slowly passed but never once did Naina leave Angad out of her sight, if he cried she would gently rock him to sleep, and soon exactly six months after Angad's birth, another lady was rushed to the hospital.
Suryaban walked back and forth in the hospital, glancing every now and then at the Labor Room worried and tensed, today Gayatri was due, she had unexpected labor pains two weeks in advance, but the doctor had told him not to worry as such things happen in pregnancy and yet Suryaban never once blinked his eyes or rested peacefully for fear of something dangerous. Just then a loud whale from the labor room fills the corridors, Suryaban glances up as the tears trickle down his eyes, the child's cries lighten the atmosphere. He glances up towards the ceiling and bows his head in prayer, murmuring a soft prayer, before he rushed in to the room to watch his newborn daughter.
Time went by too slow for Gayatri and Suryaban, both had waited two hours before the doctors had walked in carrying their bundle of joy wrapped in a pink cloth. "Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Sharma, you have a lovely daughter, so cute, and she seems very gentle; she awaits to be held by her parents!" Gayatri smiled and happily held the baby in her arms; she gasped slightly at seeing her little baby, so soft, so gorgeous and yet so lively. A small finger reached out towards Gayatri, Gayatri smiled and happily held the child's hands in her own. Her small hand comparatively smaller than Gayatri's, but yet nothing could have made her more happier today.
Suryaban sat down softly towards Gayatri and watched the little angle stare at him with peculiar eyes, "I am your papa, beta!" as he said those alien words to her, a smile played itself on her lips and filled the room with a beam of life and a small laughter. Gayatri pulled the child into a hug just before the nurse asked for her name. "Kripa!" both yelled in unison, they had decided to name their child Kripa, not only because God had given them the child but they felt emotionally attached to that Kripa who passed away three years ago at a young age of 22.
Twenty years later, the soft sunrays flash through an open window, bouncing off the reflection of a young woman asleep softly in her bed. Startled by the sunlight, she turns her head to the side, and stretches, before getting out of bed and rushing towards the bathroom. Walking out twenty minutes later dressed in a long white skirt and a classy blue shirt, walks downstairs after pulling her hair into ponytail; she approaches the dining room table, "good morning papa, good morning mama, good morning bhaiyya, good morning bhabhi!" the young girl says as she walks toward every single person placing a soft kiss on their cheek. Everyone beam a smile at her, her small habit never left, she had been doing this act of hers for 18 years now, never forgetting to start her day without placing a kiss on their cheeks. The older lady glanced at her and smiled, "good morning Kripa, now you have exactly half an hour before it's time to leave for the music academy, and so I want you to have your breakfast today from me!" Kripa smiled at her mom, Gayatri, and sat down next to her; chatting with all of them as Gayatri fed Kripa from her own hands.
Their mornings began and ended in seeing Gayatri feed Kripa, something the family was tied together in, every night Gayatri would feed one child or the other, but lately it had been Kripa quite a lot; not at all upset with that he smiled. Gayatri was emotionally attached to her daughter, something that tied them together, just then the average mother and daughter bond, not only were they best friends, but appeared to be close sisters; rarely would the mother and daughter bond appear, only on days like these when she forced Kripa to allow her to feed her child, or when she would worry about a scratch on Kripa, or when Kripa was just being Kripa!
He chuckled slightly under his breath, as Kripa finished eating, and grabbed the plate from her mother, now in return feeding her. Karan watched with a cheerful smile, Kripa had always been like that, her acts were similar to mom and dad but some were unusual; she'd wake up in the mornings terrified of something, a flashback in negatives but never able to see what exactly it was; on those nights Karan would comfort her like his daughter, and watch her sleep peacefully in his lap. Although at times Kripa was given more love he never once was envious or jealous, because he knew she loved him just as much.
A young man comes whistling down the stairs, dressed in casual jeans and a black shirt, yet revealing his well tone muscles. "Hi mom, hi dad, hi bro and bhabhi!" he smiled at them and placed five paranthas in his plate, gulfing all of them down in a matter of seconds. Aditya, Angad's older brother, laughed nodding his head, "Angad you will never change, you just gulfed down five paranthas by the time I finished two!" he tone full of humor. Angad threw him a look before speaking, "Bhai, I enjoy eating bhabhi's food and you know I need to be hatta katta, I am not hatta katta at all, even she said that too me!" startling himself he stopped before he took the next morsel.
All glanced at Angad, "I'll be outside, just need some fresh air!" Angad got up and walked outside, his past or whatever it was haunted him, he heard and saw too many flashbacks of someone's past, it was as if someone was giving him their memories, but who and why? No one knew, and when consulted to a priest, he had just said, let it happen for God is allowing it!
Aditya glanced towards Naina, Dilip, and Kanan before Arush and Mohan spoke, Angad's nephews, "Papa, papa, why does Chachu get upset and walk out like this every morning after saying something?" Aditya glanced towards his sons, he was startled by their questions but how would he tell them someone had been haunting his dreams for the past five years, someone was giving him memories. He decided to end the topic, by rushing out after Angad.
"Angad are you okay?" Aditya asked Angad. Angad nodded slightly but then pulled on his favorite smile, to now allow his brother to be suspicious, "alright bro, I'm getting late, I should go now, bye!"
A young man dressed in a doctor's coat, walks down the hall whistling his favorite song, glancing sideways every now and then. When suddenly, someone from behind called his name, instead of turning around, he kept walking forward while his head turned slightly nodding towards the person to come near him. And then suddenly a wave of emotions rushed through him as he fell hard, a young woman crushed under him, gazing deep into her eyes he found only innocence and pain was it? He smiled at her, and spoke gathering any courage left in him before he fell flat on her, "I am Armaan, Armaan Mallik! And you must be the new girl? Riddhima Gupta? Am I right?" she nodded slightly. He smiled his favorite crooked smile at her before he spoke, "has anyone ever told you, you're a killer, because damn you blow me away!"
