Part 48

Taani was pacing around in her room since the time she came back home with Swayam. She was hurt. She wanted to know why Swayam behaved the way he did. But she couldn't as some or the elder was constantly with him. It was decided that the engagement would take place at their palace in Jodhpur hence everyone was busy packing. Frustrated with her thoughts and fear of losing Rey, she called him up.

Taani: Rey yeh sab kya ho raha hai?

Rey: Stop worrying Taani.

Taani: How am I supposed to do that? (She snapped at him.)

Rey: Firstly, you need to calm down and then go and talk to Swayam.

Taani: Mujhe bhai se koi baat nahi karni!

Rey: Trust me, uss se jaake baat karo. I know he didn't mean anything of what he said.

Taani: Mein bhai se kabhi baat nahi karne wali! How could he ask me to stay away from you?

Rey: Because voh Swayam hai! Aur usse jab gussa aata hai tabhi voh aise behave karta hai! Voh kuch dino se thoda weird behave kar raha hai probably jo kuch ho raha hai uski vajah se. And we happened to irk him aur usne uski saari anxiety humpe nikal di. Taani humari galati thi ki humne jhoot bola and he has the right to get angry.

Taani: Buy Rey I can't live without you.

Rey: Neither can I. But abhi galati ki hai toh punishment bhi accept karni hogi. Just promise me ki tum iss sab se upset nahi rahogi during the engagement.

Taani: I'll try.

Rey: Aur Swayam ki tension mat lo tum. Voh ho jayega normal.

In the evening the team decided to bid farewell to Swayam, Sharon and Taani at the airport. They were supposed to go a few days later.

Sharon: Niki, Rey kahan hai?

Niki: Mom ko kuch kaam tha so he couldn't come.

Taani's face fell hearing this. She really didn't want Rey to distance himself from her because of what Swayam said in his anger.

Rinni: We'll miss you guys.

Neha: Haan hum bohot miss karenge tumhe.

Sharon: Stop the drama guys. We aren't going forever. And when are you all coming?

Nil: Let's see.. hume Sharon aur Taani se kuch dino ki freedom mili hai toh we'll enjoy it to the fullest and come there. 

Taani: Excuse me?

Nil: What? Tumne GS banke hume bohot sataya hai.

This got a smile on her face.

Swayam: Flight ka time ho raha hai. We need to go in.

Gang: Bye guys.

Rey was at his house fidgeting with his cell phone. His mom came into his room.

Juhi: Rey tum airport nahi gaye?

Rey: Nahi.. voh.. mujhe kuch kaam tha.

Juhi: Is everything alright Rey? Kal se dekh rahi hoon mein kahin khoye huye ho. Baat kya hai?

Rey: Kuch nahi mom. Voh academy ka thoda tension hai.

Juhi: Alright, agar tum baat nahi karna chahate toh I won't force you. But you know right that you can share whatever is bothering you with me.

Rey: Aisa kuch nahi hai mom. Waise aap yahan? Kuch kaam tha?

Juhi: Haan, kuch baat karni thi.

Rey: Kahiye na.

Juhi: Yeh Shivam kaisa ladka hai?

Rey: Shivam? How did you.. I mean.. when?

Juhi: You know it's easy to get things out of Niki's mouth than yours.

Rey: Mom why will I hide anything from you? And well Shivam is a nice guy. You don't need to worry. Nik se mein kitni bhi fight karu but I do still love her! I won't let any random guy come in her life.

Juhi: I was really shocked. Mujhe humesha lagta tha ki pehle tum hume apni life partner se milwaoge, but yahan toh tum uske baare mein baat tak nahi karna chahate.

Rey: Mom? (He snapped his head towards her.)

Juhi: Maa hoon tumhari. Itna toh mein tumhe jaanti hoon.

She ruffled his hair and left leaving him in utter shock.

Taani, Swayam and Sharon reached Jodhpur with their parents. Taani and Swayam's cousins were all there teasing them. The atmosphere in Jodhpur was very joyous.

Naina: Taani beta apne roommein kyun baithi ho? Chalo neeche dinner karne.

Taani: Mumma bhook nahi hai. Aap jayiye.

Naina: Kya hua hai beta? Aise akele kyun rehne lagi ho? Kal bhi subah subah kahin chali gayi thi. Pata hai hum sab kitne tension mein aa gaye the?

Taani: I'm fine mumma. Waise aapko Shivam aur mein.. I mean aisa kyu laga?

Naina: Tum abhi tak wahi baat leke baithi ho? It was a misunderstanding. Uss baat ko itna kyun soch rahi ho?

Taani: Pata nahi. I guess itna sab kuch ho raha hai ki kuch samajh nahi aa raha.

Swayam: Chachi, Taani, aap dono yahan ho aur mein sab jagah dhund raha hoon. Khana lag gaya hai.

Taani: Mumma aap chaliye mein bhai ke saath aati hoon.

Swayam was about to leave after Naina when Taani held his hand to stop him.

Taani: Bhai I'm really sorry. Mera koi intension nahi tha aapko hurt karne ka. Please don't do this.

Swayam: I understand Taani but tum mujhse durr ho rahi ho and I can't let that happen.

Taani: Bhai aisa kabhi nahi ho sakta. I will always be your little sister.

Swayam: Taani mujhe abhi uss baare mein koi baat nahi karni. Let's go for dinner.

After dinner Taani went out for a walk to clear her mind. She didn't know what to do. She was walking by a lake when she heard someone call her name. She looked around and found a guy approaching her.

Taani: Vishesh?

Vishesh: Mein yaad hoon tumhe? Not bad!

Taani: Of course mein tumhe kaise bhool sakti hoon.

Vishesh was Taani's childhood friend. Both had technically grown up together. He was Taani's confidant until he decided to move to US for further studies and Taani came to Mumbai.

Vishesh: Tum kab aayi?

Taani: Aaj hi.

Vishesh: Sab theek hai na?

Taani: Aise kyun pooch rahe ho?

Vishesh: Bohot alag lag rahi ho.

Taani: Mere kya do sir nikal aaye hai? Ya haath aur pair ulte hogaye hai? Ya phir mein vamp ya koi chudail jaisi dikh rahi hoon? Jo mil raha hai bas bol raha hai ki badal gayi ho!

Vishesh: Koi iss Jodhpur express ki chain kheecho.

Taani: Sorry.. voh..

Vishesh: Its ok. Haq hai tumhara.

Taani: Toh abhi kya kar rahe ho?

Vishesh: Holiday pe hoon aur yahan aake news mili hai ki Shekhawat house mein shaadi ho rahi hai.

Taani: Shaadi nahi engagement.

Vishesh: Shaadi, engagement same thing! Sunne mein aaya hai ki Swayam ki jisse shaadi ho rahi hai voh badi hi teekhi mirchi hai.

Taani: Yeh bhai ke samne mat kehna, anjaam bohot bura hoga.

Vishesh: Aye aye captain!

Back in Mumbai. After Rey had a talk with his mom he was restless. He didn't want her to know of Taani as yet. He first wanted to solve his problem with Swayam.

Rey: Nik listen up.

Niki: Aaa! Dude! You could have knocked. (She placed her hand over her racing heart to calm down.)

Rey: Knock? Tune kitni baar knock kiya hai mere room mein aane se pehle?

Niki: Horror movie dekh rahi thi mein. Idiot! Faltu ka dara diya.

Rey: Voh sab chod and listen to me carefully.

Niki: Bol.

Rey: Agar mom aake tujhse kuch bhi mere baare mein puche toh mat batana.

Niki: Hain? Kyun?

Rey: Jo keh raha hoon wahi karo!

Niki: You're sounding like you've recently broken up and don't want anyone to find out who your ex was!

Rannvijay: Who broke up with whom?

Rannvijay was going to his room to retire for the night when he heard noises coming from Niki's room.

Rey: Nik, she broke my iPod!

Niki: What no! I didn't!

Rey: Yes you did!

Niki: No I did not!

Rey: Yes!

Niki: NO!

Rey: YES!

Rannvijay: Okay stop now! Rey out!

Rey: Par..

Rannvijay: I want no arguments here.

Rey: Fine! (he grumpily walked out)

Niki: I didn't break his iPod!

Rannvijay: Chup chap so jao.

Rannvijay left holding his head. Their arguments were always a pain for anyone witnessing them. Laughing inwardly at his two kids he went to his room.

Jodhpur

Sharon saw Taani coming in from the gate late at night. She was sitting outside having some alone time.

Sharon: Taani kahan thi tum?

Taani: Walk pe gayi thi.

Sharon: Oh mein kabse tumhe dhund rahi thi.

Taani: Kya hua? Any problem?

Sharon: No just..

Taani: Kya baat hai bhabhi?

Sharon: Yahan sab itna tease kar rahe hai. Kitna awkward lag raha hai.

Vishesh: Arre abhi se hi thak gayi aap?

He came behind Taani. Sharon failed to notice him at first.

Sharon: Excuse me?

Taani: Yeh mera friend hai, Vishesh. Aur Vishesh yeh meri bhabhi.

Vishesh: Tumhari matlab meri bhi bhabhi

Swayam: Vishesh?

Swayam was passing by when he saw Vishesh chatting with the ladies.

Vishesh: Hey Swayam. Kaise ho?

Swayam: I'm good. Tum yahan kaise?

Vishesh: Pata chala ki tum shaadi karne ja rahe ho toh date poochne aa gaya. After all bachelor party ki sab arrangements mujhe hi karni hogi na?

Sharon: Shaadi?

Vishesh: Usually humare yahan engagement ke baad shaadi hi hoti hai.

Swayam: Tumse kabhi koi seedha answer expect kar sakta hai?

Vishesh: Jab answer pata hai kaisa hoga toh question hi kyun puchte ho! Chalo Taani inhe thodi privacy dete hai.

Swayam: Yeh pagal ek din mujhse maar khake rahega! (He said after Vishesh left with Taani.)

Sharon: Yeah, he is crazy.

Swayam: Tum yahan itni raat ko?

Sharon: I was feeling a bit lonely.

Swayam: Itne sab log hai yahan. Family, cousins. Phir bhi?

Sharon: Yeh sab tumhare cousins hai, tumhari family hai. Don't get me wrong Swayam but these are not my people. Mein inse freely jaake baat nahi kar sakti jaise mein Rey, ya for that matter team ke kisi bhi member ke saath karti hoon.

Swayam: Voh sab yahan ek-do din mein aajayenge aur waise Taani ko toh tum jaanti ho.

Sharon: Kya fayda? Dekha nahi kaise Vishesh usse leke chalagaya. Wait till Rey finds this out.

Swayam looked at Sharon to figure out if she really meant to say that.

Sharon: Aise kyun dekh rahe ho?

Swayam: What will Rey find out?

Sharon: Swayam stop being a baby. I understand ki Taani tumhari behen hai and all but uski bhi apni ek life hai. She truly loves someone and as a brother tumhe usse support karna chahiye. Plus it's Rey. You know him so well phir bhi tum aise react karte ho?

Swayam: It's not easy Sharon. Bachpan se usse dekhte aaya hoon and now I find her different. Yeh voh Taani nahi hai jisse mein janta hoon..

Sharon: That's because every girl changes when she falls in love. Tum mujhe hi dekh lo, Sharon and sweet never went together but now I have changed.

Swayam: Haan, but atleast tum jhoot nahi bolti.

Sharon: Okay whats up? What am I missing?

Swayam: Uss din jab hum sab tumhare ghar aaye the tab Taani ne mujhse kaha tha that she wasn't feeling well so she wont come. Next morning she wasn't at home. I called her up tabhi pata chala ki voh poori raat Rey ke saath thi. Aur jab meine poocha ki jhoot bolke jaane ki kya jarurat thi tabhi mujhe yeh excuse milti hai ki they wanted to spend time together. Whole day they were together phir bhi raat ko Rey ko usse bulane ki jarurat kya thi?

Sharon: Firstly, voh dono bachche nahi hai. They know what they are doing. Aur tumse kisne kaha ki Rey ne usse raat ko uske ghar bulaya tha?

Swayam: Rey ne khud mujhse yeh baat kahi thi.

Sharon: Jhoot bol raha tha vo. They had some fight and Rey wasn't ready to talk to her. Taani ne Niki se kaha tha to help her. That was the reason Niki had come to my place with uncle and aunty to give Rey and Taani some time alone to talk.

Swayam: Toh Rey ne aisa kyun kaha?

Sharon: I have no idea! Ussi se puch lena.

Sharon left Swayam to think over what had happened. After thinking a lot over what Sharon said, he finally realized that he was wrong in asking them to stay away. Taani as his sister hadn't changed at all. Rey had now entered her life and he had to accept this. He decided to mend things between them the first thing in the morning.

I hope everyone got the answer to why Swayam behaved the way he did.
