Chapter 2(1)- Miserable beyond measures...

The next day was boring as usual. She didn't hear from Angad for a while; a part of her was happy but a bigger part of her was desperate to meet him. She didn't like being away from him for even one minute and at the same time she couldn't even stand her face for a moment.

She called Angad that night. "Hello, Kripa?" Angad answered the call. "Angad… I've to tell you something…"

"Yeah… go ahead, Kripa. Since when are you shy?"

"Angad I just wanted to say I'm sorry." She hung up the phone as soon as she apologized and switched it off so he couldn't call her back. Her stomach growled so she headed towards the kitchen for a quick snack. She noticed a card on the table. She opened it and screamed in horror. It was Angad's and her wedding card. Oh my god! What was she to do? She never realized that she'd be getting married pretty soon! Oh god! She had got to do something about this. She opened the freezer and took out an ice-cream stick. She took a bite and snapped her fingers. Idea! She could go and talk to Angad and ask him to delay the marriage as she couldn't. Oh, fine… she could but she didn't want to do that as she would be the one disappointing her family. See, Ice-cream can do wonders! After finishing her ice-cream, she grabbed her car keys and headed towards Angad's house.

She was greeted quite warmly by his family and they showed her the way towards his room. She was so excited that she didn't knock and just barged in. He didn't notice her entering as his back was towards her. He was on the phone so she decided not to bother him.

"Rohan, man you know how I am; I wouldn't be marrying her if dad wouldn't have threatened me by taking all the property away from me and leaving me penniless. I had to agree… Hey, hey, hey hold up. You know I was never even serious with her before. She was just fun entertainment, and that's all." Angad said devastatedly.

Kripa felt herself go numb. She use to be in love with this kind of a guy? What was she thinking? He was nothing but a jerk. A big jelly headed moron! She abruptly turned around and headed out the door but before she knew it, she crashed into wall behind her. She let out a cry in pain which definitely got Angad's attention. He ended his call and knelt down beside her. She was too busy rubbing head and cursing herself under her breath to notice him. "Kripa, are you ok?" She looked up at him in a stunned manner. She got up quickly and ran out of his house without letting Angad explain anything. She sat in her car and looked into her mirror. She saw Angad running towards her car. Oh my god! What was she suppose to do?

She started her car and rode off quickly but not without giving him a last look. He looked confused. Why? Why was he acting confused? Was he playing dumb or was it really true?

She sat on the fine boulders of the beach that overlooked the sparkling sea. She loved being at places such as this. Josh was sitting next to her since the past hour without uttering a word. He was looking at her as she let out the first tear which she was holding back since he had come. He hugged her tight but still didn't ask any questions. "You know josh… whatever can happen to me but as long as you're right her beside me I can go through anything. You were even there beside me when Ashini was diagnosed with cancer. You're the bestest friend anyone could ever have. At least god has blessed me with you. I love you, Josh." To lighten the mood, Josh looked at her and raised his eye brows mischievously that was followed by Kripa's playful smacks and definitely the free laugh. Oh, how much he had missed that smile.

After lots of persuasion, Josh was sent home and Kripa too left the beach and headed towards home but took a U-turn, changing her mind and headed towards the hospital. She opened and sneaked behind the door of a room. The visiting hours were over and if she were to get caught, she would be in big trouble. It was a dark, gloomy room whose only source of light came from the night lamp from the deep corner of the room. Her insatiable and ravenous eyes finally fell upon a little girl's body that was covered with two heavy blankets. She looked at her face that lay on the fluffy pillow. It looked pale even in the darkness of the room. Darkness… it described exactly how the little girl's life had become so all of a sudden. She sat down next to her and stroked her forehead. She felt a sudden shadow of pity fall over the girl. She lost her mother at such a tender age and that wasn't enough for god who gave her such a difficult obstacle to tackle. She looked so much like her mother, Pooja but still had her fathers eyes. She didn't want to wake her up so she tip-toed out only to crash into someone. She looked up glaring. God! Why can't people watch where they're going? They always, and she means always has to crash into her! She was shocked again. "Angad? What are you doing here?" she whispered because the door was still open and she didn't want to wake Ashini up.

She shut the door as quietly as possible and turned around to leave. Angad grabbed her arm gently and turned her around holding her shoulders. She didn't want to look into his eyes because she knew she would melt as it is his warm breathe was already doing wonders. She looked down. "yeah…" When he didn't reply, she said she needed to go as it was late and again attempted to leave but he held her hand even firmer. "Angad… Please leave me. I'm getting really late and then everyone will get worried for no reason. They don't like me staying out this late."

Anger flickered through his eyes but controlled it. "They wouldn't mind you staying out with your fiance, would they?" Now it was her time to get irritated on the word fiance coming out of his big, fat, ugly mouth. Actually she could call his mouth everything but ugly.

She sadly smiled remembering the incident that happened earlier that day. A tear rolled down her cheek which was followed by several others. He raised his hands, and rubbed his stubble to her cheek in a comforting way, but she soon moved his hands away unwillingly. She got a hold of her tears and looked into his eyes. For the first time, she felt like she couldn't read what they said which disappointed her. "I'm going." It wasn't a plea this time; it was a firm statement. He wasn't ready to give up anytime soon so he grabbed her hand and led their way out of the hospital and towards his car. She broke free, turned and made her way towards her car. Ugh… What was this stubborn girl's problem?

When he reached her car, he saw her fumbling with the keys. He took the keys away from her. He opened the door, sat himself in the driver's seat, and turned the car on. Racing the car, he signaled her to sit in the passenger's seat. Giving up, she made her way towards the passenger side and sat but not before showing her disagreement by huffing and puffing in anguish. To make her even more irritated, he imitated her huffing in a mocking way and she just simply glared at him. He was pretty surprised his body wasn't burnt already.

He took her back to beach and they sat at the same boulders she had been sitting earlier that day, except she was sitting with him and not Josh. They were complete opposites. Josh believed in true love and Angad, according to what she heard today, definitely didn't. Josh was the quiet, patient and understanding ones and Angad was the loud, impatient, angry and definitely not understanding. The wind was blowing fervently, just like before but the only difference was that now the sun was setting down. It definitely was the only place she wanted to be at. "Now… how are you feeling?" he inquired.

"Splendid. Especially after seeing your face." She said sarcastically but only she knew the words were the truth. He was still unaware of what had happened earlier that day. He knew she didn't want to talk about her being miserable. "Do you love someone else?" This question really infuriated her. "What kind of a question is that?" she snapped. He could see the anguish bubble in her eyes. "And what's up with the someone else? I don't "Love" anyone at the moment and nor do I love you! Then why the flippin' someone else, huh? And where'd you even get that idea from? Look… I'll break the engagement tomorrow if that's what you want to talk to me about." He looked at her confusingly. What made her come to that kind of the conclusion and she lies to no ends. There was no denying that she definitely knew how to hurt someone so ruthlessly. On the other hand, Kripa felt like she was being to nice to him and should be even meaner after how he broke up with her and left her and he had no, means no right over her so even if she was in someone else's arms what the heck was his problem? "Argh… forget it! There's no point in talking to a liar like you." No, he did not just call her a liar! She hates when people like him blame her for doing things she didn't even do! Did I mention that she hated misunderstandings? She just can't stand them. "Thanks! Thanks so much for agreeing to end this engagement without me asking you to. You'll be saving me from a life of hell." Ouch, that hurt. So that's how you feel when you taste you own medicine, huh? He really wanted to end this relationship? Actually, what more did she expect from him; he definitely wouldn't be on his knees telling her he loved her or anything. "Fine!" and he too retorted with a "Fine!" They turned around simultaneously and went different directions.

That night neither of them could fall asleep as they were too busy fussing over each other. The morning brought the beginning of a new day with a new turn. She had been woken up by her mother who looked quite tensed at the moment. "Mom… what's wrong?" she asked without bothering to even squint her eyes open. "Get ready quickly, we've got to go the hospital." She jumped out of her bed.

"Mom, is everything ok? Ashini…?"

"No, no! She's fine. Angad's grandfather has been admitted to the hospital, and he wants to see you."

"Me?" Oh, oh... this sounds like trouble. "Yes, you. Now hurry up." saying this her mother left, leaving a really nervous Kripa behind.

Kripa told her parents to leave as it was an emergency and she'd come there as soon as she gets ready. After getting showered and dressed, She was running all over the house in a hurry, looking for her cell phone often tripping over the stairs or almost slipping over the marble floor oblivious to broad shouldered man sitting on the kitchen counter observing her all her actions. the word hopital always made the hair on the back of her neck stand. Everytime she goes tot he hospital something goes wrong. first it was her friend, mishti, and then it was Mishti's daughter, Ashini. She didn't want to go there. She felt like a jinx and she'd feel even more miserable if anything happened to his grandfather. She finally located her cell phone from inside the couch. From inside the couch, I mean from really inside, inside the couch. She grabbed a nutrition bar and went for her keys when she heard someone speack, "You won't be needing those. Just hurry up." startling and making her jump. pooja122139193.8240046296
