Part 41

After asking Taani to go home, Rey left Armaan's cabin and went to see Shivam. Armaan patted his back on his accomplishment and left for rounds.

Shivam: Rey tum? Mujhe laga Taani rukne wali hai.

Rey: Usko ghar jaana tha.

Shivam: Oh, but you didn't need to wait. I mean mein ab bilkul theek hoon.

Rey: Explain that to Nik.

Shivam: You can stay as long as you like.

Rey: Chal you rest. Mein aata hoon.

Shivam: Rey?

Rey: Yeah?

Shivam: Tumhare aur Taani ke beech. I mean. What's the matter?

Rey: I really don't want to discuss anything.

Shivam: I understand it's between the two of you, but just don't ignore her. She really loves you.

Rey: Yeah I saw that! (Flashes of Taani and Armaan run through his mind and he leaves scowling)

Shivam: Isko kya hua?

After roaming in the hospital for half an hour, Rey returns to the room where Shivam is kept. Shivam has fallen asleep due to sedatives. Seeing this Rey enters in and feels relieved to have escaped Shivam's interrogation. Just when he was about to settle down on the couch, Armaan entered in to check on Shivam. Rey got up and went to the door. Just as he was about to open the door, Armaan stopped him.

Armaan: Rey ruko.

Rey: Yes?

Armaan: Mere cabin mein chalo, kuch baat karni hai.

Rey followed Armaan to his cabin. After along silence, Armaan finally spoke.

Armaan: Shivam ke family mein koi hai?

Rey: Never really asked him, but why? Is he alright?

Armaan: Haan bas..

Rey: Bas kya?

Armaan: Nothing serious. Shivam ka bone bohot buri tarah se damage hua tha, operation ke baad we waited for a week but looking at the progress, the chances of healing are really less.

Rey: Matlab he won't be able to walk from now?

Armaan: I guess yes, unless..

Rey: Unless?

Armaan: We insert a rod in his leg.

Rey: Hmn.. Surgery kab karni hogi?

Armaan: Jitni jaldi ho utna better.

Rey: Shivam ko pata hai iss ke bare mein?

Armaan: Not yet, mein kisi aur se baat karna chahata tha.

Rey: I think we should do the surgery.Shivam se aap kal baat kar lena.

Armaan: Great!

Rey: Yeah.

Armaan: Umm Rey, if you don't mind kuch aur bhi baat karni thi.

Rey: Kya?

Armaan: What's the matter between you and Taani?

Rey: Why are you interested?

Armaan: I know tum mere bare mein kya sochte ho, but trust me I was just trying to cheer her up.

Rey: Listen.

Armaan: Wait. Pehle meri poori baat sunlo. Uske baad mujhe maaro peeto, I won't say anything.

Rey kept quiet. Taking that as a positive, Armaan began.

Armaan: Jab Shivam admit hua tha I had heard Taani crying and telling him that she loves you and because of one mistake of hers you are mad at her, and probably hate her.

Rey: It's very kind of you to interfere between us, but we don't need your help.

Armaan: At least you two are still "us."

Rey: If you don't have anything important to talk about, I'll leave.

Armaan: Stop running away from your problems. And if you think whatever that mistake was, was worst, then let me enlighten you, you are completely wrong.

Rey: What do you know that you are telling me if I am right or wrong?

Armaan: I have faced a lot of difficult situations and faced a lot of heart breaks than you can imagine. And trust me, koi bhi mistake uss mistake se badi nahi ho sakti jo mere saath hui thi.

Rey: What do you mean?

Armaan: I don't know what has exactly happened between the two of you, but I can assure you ki isse bura nahi hoga.

Rey: Matlab?

Armaan: You won't believe this, but during my initial stage of my relationship, I was accused of wanting only physical need from the one I love. Meine kabhi yeh socha nahi tha ki vo mere baare mein aisa sochti hai. But when I looked into myself I realized that I was the one who was wrong at the first place.

Rey: Kaise?

Armaan: Because mera image waisa tha. It was because of me that she thought low of me.

Rey: But that was as you said in your initial stage. But two years ki relationship ke baad koi aise kahe toh bura nahi lagega?

Armaan: You mean?

Rey: Yeah, Taani thought that I used her to just take revenge and satisfy my needs.

Armaan: Tum ussi jagah khade ho jaha mein saalon pehle khada tha, bas yeh difference hai ki I was right and you wrong?

Rey: How?

Armaan: Jab Riddhima ne mujhe accuse kiya tha, she didn't repent on it. Usse  lagta tha ki voh sahi hai. She took months to realize it. But here I can tell Taani knows that she was wrong and she is apologizing. But tum maaf nahi kar rahe.

Rey: Kaise maaf karu? Whenever she says sorry mujhe voh sab yaad aata hai jo usne kaha tha. I can't get myself to forget what she said.

Armaan: I can understand but just think over it, shayad tumhi ne koi reason diya ho usse.

Rey: What reason? Isn't it clear ki after two years of our relationship she doesn't even trust me?

Armaan: If you don't mind, hua kya hai tum dono ke beech?

After initial hesitating, Rey narrates the entire situation to Armaan.

Armaan: You said that she willingly responded and didn't stop you. Doesn't that mean she trusts you?

Rey: Toh phir why all that?

Armaan: Insecurity.

Rey: Voh insecure kyu hogi?

Armaan: Have you officially proposed her to marry. Forget proposing but have you ever spoken about marriage to her?

Rey: Nahi, but how does that matter. It's obvious that we will marry after our studying is complete.

Armaan: Yeh sab baate usse batana jaruri hai. She has immense trust on you and she knows that you will be her partner for lifetime. But jab relationship mein koi bhi step aage lete ho toh insecurities badhti hai. It becomes important to let your partner realize that they mean everything to you. Uss din Taani ne tumse voh sab kaha not because she didn't trust you, but she was insecure. Tum hi socho, tum aise atchanak chale gaye. She was alone. Usko darr tha ki usne tumhe kho diya. She didn't know how to face her family after all that. Insecurity itni badh gayi thi ki it took a toll on her.

Rey: It means I am at fault?

Armaan: Listen buddy don't get me wrong. Meine jo kaha hai, just think over it.

Armaan left his cabin leaving Rey alone to think over everything with a new prospective. After a lot of thinking Rey realized that maybe somewhere Armaan was right. He knew Taani well enough to tell that she had blind trust on him. Now, he was clear that both of them were at fault here. When this realization sunk in, all her words didn't pinch his heart anymore. He made a decision to sort out the problem between them as above all he loved her immensely.

Next morning Taani opened her cellphone and found a message from Rey asking her to meet in fire exit. The mention of fire exit brought back a lot of memories, pushing them aside she replied to him that she'll be there. Wondering why he called her suddenly and that too in the fire exit, she got dressed and left for college. Stepping inside the college she felt a tingly feeling inside her that everything is soon gonna sort out. Ignoring it she continued her walk down the hallway. On reaching, she took a deep breath and opened the door. She found Rey sitting there engrossed in deep thoughts. But one thing she didn't miss was the slight smile on his face. It felt real after so many days that it warmed her heart.

Taani: Rey?

Rey: H.. hi.. (smiling weekly)

Taani: Aapne bulaya.. yahan?

After so many days they were finding the normal conversation too difficult.

Rey: Haan.. voh..

Taani: Rey sab theek hai na?

Rey: Yeah. Voh actually haan voh.. kal mein Doctor Armaan se baat kar raha tha ki..

Taani: Rey aap galat soch rahe the. Mera leg twist hogaya tha, so he was just helping me. Trust me.

Rey: I know.. I know that.

Taani: Toh?

Rey: Voh hum Shivam ke bare mein baat kar rahe the.

Taani: Shivam?

Rey: Haan, Shivam ke parents?

Taani: They passed away few years back. But aap kyun pooch rahe? Sab theek hai na?

Rey: Haan sab theek hai. Don't worry.

Taani: Okay.. Aur kuch.. kehna tha?

Rey: Haan?

Taani: Aapne itni subah bulaya?

Rey: Taani I'm sorry.

Taani: What?

Rey: Peechle dino jo kuch bhi hua, I was blaming you. But I've realized now ki mein bhi galat tha..

Taani: Nahi Rey, I shouldn't have said such things. Pata nahi mein kya soch rahi thi. I shouldn't have.

Rey: Please rona band karo. I can't see you like this. (He engulfed her in a tight hug making her cry even more.)

Taani: I'm really very sorry. Please mujhe maaf kar dena.

Rey: Mujhe bhi maaf kar dena. It was wrong of me to leave you alone and go.

Taani: Par.

Rey: No Taani, hum dono ki galati hai isme.

Taani: Rey I want to forget all that.

Rey: Don't. Instead uss se seekh kar hume aage badhna chahiye.

Taani: Hmn.

Rey: I love you Taani. Will you please come back to me?

Taani: I love you too Rey.

She held him by his collars and crashed her lips on his, smooching them wildly. He responded back with equal passion. She slid her hands in his hair and he cupped her face deepening the kiss even more.She fisted his hair but he didn't stop tasting her sweet mouth. Out of breath she pulled him apart by his hair. He didn't stop and continued leaving soft kisses on her jawline and neck. Finding her soft spot, he sucked on it making her moan his name. Hearing her voice his trance broke. He looked into her teary eyes which were a complete replica of his. Leaving a quick peck on her lips he parted.

Rey: I love you.

Taani: I love you too.

Rey: I love you three.

Taani: I love you four.

Rey: I love you five six seven. I just love you so much.

Taani: I missed you Rey. (hugged him)

Rey: Me too. Promise me Taani ki next time hum jo bhi feel kare we will speak about it to each other and before making any assumptions.

Taani: I promise.

Rey heard a grumbling sound and looked at Taani who was sheepishly looking at him.

Taani: Breakfast nahi kiya tha.

Rey: Chalo.

They went towards the canteen. While walking Taani suddenly felt dizzy and was about to fall but Rey caught her in time. He took her to the canteen and made her drink juice. She felt better and later they ordered breakfast.

The gang entered canteen and were surprised to see Rey and Taani not only eating but also feeding each other. They rubbed their eyes seeing them, but didn't go and disturb considering they had a rough phase and they needed some alone time. Though Swayam felt puke-ish seeing them act all mushy, he didn't interrupt.

Rey: Taani kitne dino ka khana kahogi?

Taani: Shut up Rey, I'm very hungry!

Rey: I understand. But dheere. Koi jaldi nahi hai.

Taani: I didn't even have dinner Rey, because of you!

Rey: Oh hello, I didn't stop you.

Taani: Yeah whateve..

Before she could complete she ran up to a waste bin and puked out almost everything she ate.

Rey: Taani you fine? (He offered her water after wiping her face.)

Taani: Yeah, I don't know yeh atchanak.

Rey: Baat mat karo itna. Quietly complete this glass of juice.

Pouting cutely she drank the juice. Rey just sat there smiling at her antiques.

Taani: Aise kyu dekh rahe ho aap?

Rey: Bas.

Taani: Rey stop it now, please.

Rey: Alright. Waise Taani.

Taani: Hmm?

Rey: You're not.. pregnant right?

Taani looked at him confusingly and answered.

Taani: Uh.. no.

Rey let out the breath he was holding in relief.

Taani (thinking): Why was he relieved hearing that?

Bwahahahaha.
