     Excitement was in the air and it was clear from the looks of the seniors. It was a Friday, a free day in which there were no classes but extra-curricular activities going on. Half the students were present while others were out shopping for the big dance that evening. The gym was being decorated and Kripa was directing people. She is dressed in simple jeans and an Abercrombie & Fitch sweater. Her hair is in a ponytail and there is a pencil tangled in her hair. She was making a phone call when Angad passed by the gym. He looked inside at the half-decorated place and then his eyes fell on Kripa. She was dressed so simply but looked so cute and innocent. Her face showed how tired she was and she seemed to be distressed for some reason. He stood there watching her, smiling. A few minutes later, someone bumped into him, getting him out of his dream world/trance. He shook his head and smiled to himself.

     Finally, he entered the gymnasium and approached Kripa who had just ended her call, "Hey!" he said. She looked at him, "hey" she replied with much less enthusiasm. He frowned, "What is wrong?" She threw her hands in despair and looked at him half-tearfully, "Everything!" He grabbed a chair and made her sit down. "Relax Kripa, you need to calm down. Actually, you need a break, you're too stressed out!"

     "A break?!" she screeched. "You know how much work I have, that's the lamest idea Angad! I have like 5 hours to pull this off, and so far, we are way behind schedule!" He sighed. "Calm down Kripa, you sound hysterical!" He looked around, "Wait a second, I'll be right back!" He jogged up to a vending machine, bought a bottle of juice and jogged back. "Here, drink some of this!" It was an order, and she obeyed. She gulped down about half of the bottle. He smiled and she said, "Thanks, I needed that." He nodded his head and took the bottle from her. Pulling up a chair, he spoke, "Now, can I be of some help?"

     "Umm, I don't know, what can you do?" she asked. "Um… I don't know, what do you want me to do?" She sighed and looked around, lost in her thoughts. A little while later Angad snapped his fingers in front of her face, "Earth to Kripa!" She shook her head and looked at him, smiling. "I know what you can do!!" She seemed pretty excited and this made Angad a little uneasy, "What is going on in your mind Kripa?" She grinned and put up an innocent face, "Well, Angad, the band that was playing wont be able to make it because of the heavy snow…and" He interrupted, "Don't you play your own music collection through the speaker system?"

     "Yes, that is how it always has been, but this year the Council voted on having a band, to make it a little different" she replied. "Okay, so the band can't make it, play it through the speakers!" She gave him an angry looked, "Will you let me finish!" He kept his mouth shut because she seemed really pissed. She continued, "I promised the committee that I will take care of the band, and the whole school knows it, even the ticket sales increased this year! So we need a band or a singer…" He raised an eyebrow because he was starting to get where she was heading, "Oh no no no!" She ignored him and said very quickly, "And I was wondering if you can sing for us?? Please Angad! For me?" She made a puppy face and his heart started to melt, "Kripa, why do you always do this?"

     She asked innocently, "Do what?" He gave her a look, "Emotional blackmail!"

"So…you will do it?" Her hopes lifted. "No!" he said. She frowned, "Fine! You can't even do this much for me, leave me alone! I hate you!" She stomped away. He sighed for the third time that day and raked his fingers through his hair angrily.

     An hour later, Angad was sitting at the beach looking at the beautiful water. He looked at the couples, walking hand-in-hand, kissing, or just sitting, being there for each other. He thought back to the words Kripa had said earlier, the three words that had hurt him deeply, brought tears to his eyes…I hate you…she had said it out of frustration, without thinking. She was tired, and stressed out, having no idea that those words would hurt him so much. She was the first girl that had brought tears to his eyes, by saying something that many girls had said before. He picked up his cell phone and made a phone call. He has a silent conversation with someone, smiles, and leaves the beach.


     Angad goes back to the gym just in time to see Kripa about to fall of a ladder, he runs to her but someone gets to her before him. Kripa half-screamed as she realized she was falling, she saw Angad coming towards her at full speed but he was not close enough. She closed her eyes and fell into someone's arms. She thought it was Angad, she slowly opened her eyes, enjoying being so close to him. But to her shock, she was in the arms of Karan, and Angad stood besides him with multiple expressions on his face. He asked concerned, "Are you okay Kripa?" She nodded her head and turned to look at Karan who was staring at her and holding on as if he would never let go. "Um…Karan can you put me down" she choked out. But Karan was in a trance being so close to her. She snapped her fingers in front of his face, "Karan?!"

     "Yeah?" he asked. She rolled her eyes, "Ya mind putting me down?" He blinked, "Oh…yea...erm...sorry" She looked at Angad and then at Karan. "Its allright, thank you!! You just saved me from breaking a few bones!" With that, she gave him a peck on the cheek and left, not bothering to look at Angad who was burning with jealousy. Angad ad Karan stood there, Angad jealous and Karan lost in a dream world. When Angad noticed this, he left, purposefully pushing Karan; which got him out of his trance. His next words weren't heard by Angad, "Gosh, I am in love!"


     Two hours before the dance was to take place, Kripa arrived in the gym to see how much work was left. To her shock, everything was done, the place looked even better than she wanted it to. She went to the Council members, eating in the cafetaria and praised them on the wonderful job they did. But in return, she got confused looks. Everyone asked her what she was talking about. She looked at them confused herself, "You guys finished decorating the gym, right?" They all looked guilty, everyone murmured, "Sorry Kripa, we decided to take a break!" This added to her confusion. Who decorated the gym? She headed back to the gym when she saw Rena and her friends walking together. She heard a bit of their conversation, one girl said, "Can you believe it? I saw Angad decorating that whole place! She changed him so much! We have been trying to get his attention for so long, but she put some magic on him or something, he changed so much. She is so lucky! My boyfriend would never do that for me!" This brought tears into Kripa's eyes, she had been a little harsh, telling Angad she hated him. But still, she was a little angry at him, she didn't know why.


     Finally it was an hour left until the dance, Kripa was at home putting finishing touches on her make-up when the bell rang. She grabbed her purse and quickly went down to open the door. She opened it, and there stood Angad in a white suit: (like this but with a pink tie):



She thought he looked hot and he thought she looked breathtaking. She wore this:



     She had light make-up with diamond jewelry on. They both stood staring at each other. Angad was the first to speak, "Um…you look beautiful!" She blushed making her look even prettier, "You look quite handsome yourself, now shall we leave, we are getting late?" With that, she started walking ahead of him. He frowned, she was still angry with him, it was clear. He followed her and they got into the car. Angad put on an Indian radio station, where someone dedicated the song Is Pyar Ko Main Kya Naam Doon to a loved one. It began playing:

     By the time the song ended, they had arrived at school. Both got out of the car and headed to the gymnasium. When they got there, everyone was present. People turned to look at the amazing couple enter the gym. Angad grabbed Kripa's hand as they both walked in together. All the others were jealous; it was obvious who was going to get the best couple award this year. Both split up and went to their friends, chatting away. Kripa saw Ria come on with a group of friends and she went to talk to them. Then, music began booming from a corner and people started dancing. Kripa looked to see a band of boys playing. She was shocked and she turned to look at Angad who was looking at her, smiling. She stopped her smile from approaching her lips and turned away, pretending to be angry. He frowned but stood next to her as she got herself some lemonade. They stood their, inches apart watching people dance. The next song came, and this time Angad asked Kripa to dance with him. She nodded and he took her to the floor. The song played as she put her arms around his neck and he put his around her waist

Angad related to the song. He stared deeply into Kripa's eyes which made her go weak, but his grip tightened around her waist.

Angad and Kripa, though just stood there, Angad staring at her, holding on to her as if he'd never let go, and Kripa stayed there avoiding his gaze with her arms securely around his neck. Both stood, living the moment. The next song began,

     The night slowly ended and people started to leave one by one. At the end, only Angad, Kripa and a few friends were left. When the friends left, it was A-K alone. They both looked at each other. Angad turned and went to dismiss the band. Then, he started to put away the speaker systems and cleaning up. Kripa helped him take down banners and decorations. No words were spoken. They both got into Angad's car and left for their homes. Kripa kept on stealing glances at him. But he didn't speak at all. She turned on the radio and My Love played,

     The song ended and Kripa turned the radio off in frustration. Angad noticed this and secretly grinned. However, she caught him, "What is so funny?" He turned serious again, "Nothing"

     She frowned. "Thank you for singing you was great!" He looked at her, "Why are you thanking me? Who said I sang it for you?"**Ouch**that hurt her really bad. It hurt him too, to see the look on her face but she had hurt him even more, earlier that day. He saw her shed a few tears as she looked out the window. He hit the wheel hard cursing himself for hurting her. Her house came and she got out closing the door. "Thank you for the wonderful night" he said, backing out. Without turning around she softly said, "Thank you." When she was about to go in she turned around once again, to see him still there sitting in his car with tears in his eyes. When he saw her looking his way, he headed the car away. He had not gone home but another way. She watched his car until it could not be seen and then entered her house.


     It was around 1 AM. Kripa couldn't sleep. She looked through her window to see Angad's car still missing. She sighed. Why was he crying? She wondered. Now, she was getting really worried. She changed her clothes and quietly left the house as the clock struck 1:15. She got into her car and drove off. When she was lonely, she would go to the beach and watch the waves. That is where her car finally ended up. She took off her shoes and walked on the sand looking at the waves, shedding a few tears here and there. Suddenly, she bumped into someone and they both went tumbling down. The person was on top of her, and they both opened their eyes slowly, at the same time.
