Chapter 9

It was about 11 at night when Arnav finally finished his work and got up for his to all his patients as well as to Khushi. He was about to leave when he saw his phone vibrating when he picked it up and received it.

" haan di"

"chotey tum thik to ho na ??"

[Chotey, you are allright na?]

" Haan di I am fine "

" ya I know... But still..."

" Di aap janto ho na... Ki jab tak mein hospital mein rehta hoon... Mein thik rehta hoon.. So I am fine and tonight I am not going back to home"

[Di you know na till i am in hospital, I am fine. So I am fine and tonight I am not going back to home ]

Okay thik hai but tumne dinner kar li hai na??

[Ok. All right. But you have eaten ur dinner na? ]

Arnav hearing the question looked back at his table and saw packet filled foods and said " Ya di maine kha liya hai... aap bhi kha lo"[Yeah di. I have. Now you too have ur dinner.] " Good... aur waise bhi mujhe bhook lagi hai" [good.. I was hungry anyways ]and Arnav smiled to himself and said " Okay di..!! Good night di will talk to you later..."

" Okay bye take care chotey and dad was happy that you came today" " I know di and you too take care"...

Arnav disconnected the phone and looked at his dinner and smiled thinking how he fooled his sister. From the last 2 years he is skipping numerous lunches and dinners and the reason. yes it's silly but he never likes to eat alone. Even when he was in USA, he used to eat with his roommate, but now there is noone... he is alone...even his mom... He then without wasting anymore time walked out of his cabin. He after checking all the room finally entered in room number 333 and saw both of them lying in their inivitual beds. He went to check Akash first and looked at him. Akash, he was two years younger then him. he knew he behaved too strictly with this guy, but he severely hated those people's who didn't care for their lives and drink and destroy themselves. Akash fell in that category and that was his reason he was always strict with him. he is checking chart and wished that he gets a donor soon. He looked at Akash again and then pulling down the curtain moved to Khushi's side. he saw her sleeping and picked up her chart and instantly saw her open her eyes.

" hey " " Hi" she smiled slightly. There was no doubt that she is happy to see him. He walked to the right side of the bed and asked " will you like to sit and talk?"

Khushi nodded and thought he will call someone for help. But she was surprised when she saw him coming and helping her for sitting up. His shoulder was near his face and she could smell his cologne. He smell something unique and addictive. Then he started pulling himself back, their face were inches apart and she looked into his eyes. His eyes they were a shade of brown... they were not any simple brown... they were her favourite chocolate brown and before she could say anything he was gone. She fluttered her eyes drowning herself out of this magic and saw him pulling a chair towards her bed and settling down. For her. as if everything happening in slow motion. She shaked her head to the things and thats when she heard him.

' umm Khushi...'

' haan...' [yeah...]

' you are feeling sleepy right??'

'nehi nehi mein already bahut so chuki hoon'

[no no.. I have already slept a lot.]

" Okay...!!! so tell me something about you..."

" kya batayoon?? '' [what should I say..]she looked confused and he smiled and said

" so tum law ki student ho??"

[so you are a law student? ]

" haan mein... mein padhti thi"

[yeah I.. I used to study.]

" Tell me why you choose law?? there are so many subjects too"

" haan aur bhi subject hain par mujhe bachpan se lawyer e banna tha... mera ambition tha ki mein bahut bada lawyer banongi aur mera naam bhi India ki top lawyer list mein hoga"

[yeah ever since childhood I wanted to become a lawyer. My ambition was to become a lawyer and have my name in the top list of lawyers in india.]

he smiled seeing her and said

" wow... sabki aisehi ambition honi chahiye I hope ki tumhari dream puri ho..."

[wow. All should have ambitions like this.. and i hope your dream come true]

And Khushi laughed and said

" Thanks... but Dr Arnav aab aur nehi..hum dono yeh baat jante hai ki yeh dream ab pura nehi ho sakta but it's ok..."

[Thanks.. but Dr arnav not anymore.. We both know that this dream is no longer possible.. but it's ok..]

Arnav looked at her and changed the topic and said

" So tell me about your college, your friends, what you liked and disliked..."

" you really wanted to know "

" obviously topper ki story kaun nehi janna chahata...??"

[Obviously who doesn't want to know the story of a topper..]

" aapko kaise pata "

[how do you know?]

" yeh kya baat hui Khushi?? banna hai tumhe lawyer aur itni choti si baat bhool gayi to kaise chalega??"

[What is this khushi? It's you who wants to become a lawyer and if u forget such trivial matters how will it do? ]

" matlab?"

[meaning?]

" yeh tumne ek bar apne mail mein mention kiya tha "

[you had mentioned this once in your mail]

" Iska matlab apne mere sare mails..."

[that means you..all my mails..]

Arnav nodded and said " Padha hai... I know I never replied but that doesn't mean ki maine nehi padha...I have read every..."

Khushi smiled a satisfied smile and started telling him about her college life, and he listened to her with full concentration, sometimes interrupting and asking her some other questions and she answering him laughing and also making him smile time to time. When she finished all her major and minor details about her college life. He smiled and said " wow Khushi tumhari college life to bahut hi happening and exciting rahi hai... bhai meri to totally boring thi..."

[wow khushi your college life is very happening.. Mine was totally boring I tell you..]

" Aisa thodi na hota hai??"

[Nah that's not possible.. .]

" Hmm aisa hi tha "

[hmm it was like this only..]

" accha then tell me your and then I will say it was good or bad "

Arnav looked at his watch and said " Khushi aj nehi kabhi aur  batayenge...abhi to bahut raat ho gayi hai... it's almost 2 in the morning and you should sleep now" [Khushi not today, will tell you someday else...now  it's really late. ... it's almost 2 in the morning and you should sleep now] and telling this he got up and made her lie down and made her feel dizzy with his closeness and started leaving when she said " Dr Arnav... Mujhe aapse kuch poochna tha..."

[Dr. Arnav.. I wanted to ask you something]

He stopped and said " haan poocho "[yeah ask..]

He meanwhile take her board and started checking it meanwhile she said " 1st are we frnds now??" the way she asked the question, it looked like a small girl is asking for some more chocolate from her parents.

He looked at her then smiled a bit then nodded his head in a YES

" Thanks... aur last question... Aap ne kaha tha medicine ka asar 5 hours tak rahega par woh to andar ghuste e khatam ho gaya." [Thanks... and last question you had said the effect pf meds will remain till 5  hours but they vanished as soon as it got inside..]

Arnav kept the board down and walked towards her and said

" ummm... we will talk about it tomorrow... now go to sleep... it's too late... Good Night"

Khushi nodded her head and mumbled a sweet " Good night " and he smiling left the room.
