Chapter 6 - Baby steps

Rudra comes to the Cafeteria as he was called by Anjali. Rudra, being tired and dull, noticed Anjali talking to Rajveer. He go there and waves a 'Hi' to Anjali. Anjali gives him a seat to sit. Rajveer smiles at him. Rudra too reciprocated.

Anjali - "Rudra, he is Rajveer, my fiance. And Rajveer, he is Rudra, my cousin."

Despite getting surprised, Rudra shared a handshake with Rajveer.

Rajveer - "Hi, Rudra. You can consider me like your own brother. I am here to help you."

Rudra looked at him surprised.

Anjali - "I am aware of whatever had happened in the last few days. I know that you're having arrears in your Engineering branch. So, you won't be getting your degree soon."

Rudra nodded sadly.

Rudra - "True. But I am badly in need of a job. It's a fact that no company would give job offer to the one who didn't graduate. I am having six arrears."

Anjali - "Don't worry, Rudra. We are here to guide you."

A slight glow appears in the dull face of Rudra. 

Rajveer - "Actually I'm going to help you in getting job through my contacts based on your field of interest."

Anjali - "Exactly. But it is not as simple as that. You're going to get trained in that field by yourself or with the help of some guide for a month. Then only, we can apply for a job. Only then, you would sustain in the job. Otherwise, the company would consider you for a month just for respecting our choice."

Rudra - "Thank you so much, didi and bhaiyya. I am ready to do anything to get the job."

Rajveer - "Tell me your field of interest. Where do you want to work? I know you're kind of carefree, but you must be interested in something, right? What is that?"

Rudra stayed silent and apprehensive to admit his interest in bike riding which has led to all the problems.

Anjali - "Why are you so apprehensive? We are not going to believe if you say that you're not interesting in any area."

Rudra - "Actually..."

Anjali - "Yeah..."

Rudra - "I am bike racer. I used to drive race bikes in Manali and won a few races. But my dad don't like my passion for bikes. Other than that, I have interested in studying the working of cars and bikes."

Anjali - "Bike racer? Really... I thought you are going to say something like coding or web development..."

Rajveer - "Calm down Anjali. Everyone has a different taste and it is completely good to be a racer. It requires a different type of self control and dedication."

Anjali - "But how can he get employed with bikes?"

Rajveer - "Why not? There are opportunities. Don't worry, Rudra. We'll get a job for you either as a racer or something related to that."

Rudra - "Thank you so much Rajveer Bhaiyya for your concern. But I don't want to get into that field at least now. Dad never like my work. I cannot disobey him and if I do, it will turn the matter worse. Like Didi said, it is better for me to work in IT companies."

Rajveer patted his shoulders. 

Rajveer - "I cannot give any opinion as I know your situation. But the decision is yours. If you're interested to work in racing, we are there for you."

Anjali hugged Rudra.

Anjali - "I'll let you know about your training soon."

Rajveer enrolled Rudra in an Event Management Course with a personal mentor after a few more similar discussions within a day. The Design of the course is to have classes for five days and a project/practictal work on the 6th day.

Rudra started taking course from his house and visited Rohan during the evening. He gradually developed dedication and interest towards the course and started working on his skills apart from the course materials. The main motto of Rudra is not only getting the job but also to make father feeling proud of him seeing his independency.

15 days later / Night / 8PM

Soumya has received the best employee of the month by her team members as her research article has impressed the Heads in National Level. Her office arranged a dinner to celebrate the glory.

Janvi, Ashwin, Prem and Shraddha come together in a grand outfit. Soumya welcomed them to the dinner and introduced them to her employees.

Ashwin - "Congratulations again. You're my pride, beta."

Soumya gets happy tears.

Shraddha - "Aww... Soumya...You're getting so emotional."

Shraddha hugged Soumya and they both laughed.

A lot of employees too come and congratulated her individually. 

Janvi - "Soumya, you're looking tired. Let us go and eat something now."

Soumya - "Let's wait, mom. There is a cake cutting ceremony within a few minutes. Then, we can go."

Janvi - "But... At least have a juice."

Soumya - "If I had juice, how could I eat the maximum amount of food? There are so many varieties of fish in the dinner."

Janvi - "Soumya..."

Soumya - "Maa..."

Janvi - "Two sip..."

Soumya - "Then, I couldn't able to try two type of fish in the dinner."

Soumya pouted while Janvi made a face. Shraddha, Ashwin and Prem laughed.

Ashwin - "You used to complain that Soumya has only my genes. Looks like, it has been proved wrong."

Janvi - "Ashwin... Are you trying to say that..."

Ashwin - "I said about dressing sense..."

Janvi - "You're changing the topic, now."

Prem - "Pishimaa, you too changed the topic now."

Everyone starts laughing upon how Janvi drifted from insisting Soumya to have a juice to fight. 

Soumya - "Okay, I'll drink a juice, okay mom?"

Janvi - "Now you're having my genes."

Ashwin - "What logic is this!"

Again everyone breaks into laughter. Everyone takes a glass of juice from the waiter and takes a drink.

Shraddha - "Didn't you call Rudra, Soumya?"

Soumya - "Actually, I invited him. But I am not sure if he would come as he is going for an event tomorrow as an intern to learn. So he is preparing for it."

Ashwin - "Good to see that boy is taking responsibility on his shoulders. He'll definitely succeed."

Janvi - "Exactly. He is a good-hearted boy. It's just that he was carefree."

To their surprise, Rudra appeared to the party and called out Soumya's name.

Soumya was pleasantly surprised to see Rudra there. Rudra come to them and hugged Soumya and congratulated him. 

Rudra - "You got this award later than you actually should get. Anyways, better late than never."

Soumya - "Quite cheesy... But thanks for the compliment."

They smiled.

Rudra took blessings from Ashwin, Janvi and Shraddha.

The anchor called everyone for the cake cutting event. Soumya cut the cake. She fed the cake to her family members and Rudra. 

The anchor announced the dance event as the next event and asked the guests to pair up with their dance partners and life partners.

Prem has got a partner in the event. 

Rudra - "Soumya, shall we dance?"

Soumya felt coy.

Rudra - "The day should be memorable. Let us dance now." 

Soumya accepted the proposal.

Prem, Janvi-Ashwin, Rudra-Soumya and the employers danced. 

Taare Ginn played

Rudra and Soumya shared a graceful dance. This time, Soumya's feelings have evolved more platonic and much less romantic. Both have started started moving ahead... one from immature-guilt love and another from one sided love. 

The dance looked organic with no awkwardness. 

Followed by the dance, everyone assembled for the dinner.

The dinner is so grand with different varieties of food items from all over the Bengal.

Rudra sits with Soumya's family and started having the dinner.

Prem - "What event are you attending tomorrow, bhaiyya?"

Rudra - "It's a Marriage Reception. It will occur by evening. But I have to go by morning."

Soumya - "Wow. I didn't actually your presence here as you must be preparing for tomorrow."

Rudra - "Haha... How can I miss my friend's big achievement?"

Soumya smiled.

Shraddha - "How are your training going on, Rudra? Are you feeling comfortable with the training? Could you able to grasp the basics?"

Rudra - "Yeah, aunty. It is going really well.  I am feeling optimistic and have a hope that I'd do better in my work." 

Janvi - "Loved the spirit, beta. Keep it up."

Ashwin - "If you need any help, you should not hesitate to contact me."

Rudra - "Yeah, uncle. Sure."

Soumya - "Do let me know how is it. Fine?"

Rudra - "Yeah, fine..."

Hospital

Nandini is cutting fruits for Rohan. Rohan is seeing 'Stranger Things' in his phone along with Tej and Kalyani, explaining few scenes to Kalyani when she finds it difficult to understand the language. Tej is holding the phone sitting near Rohan while Kalyani is on the other side. Rohan is semi-seated.

Kalyani - "Oh my god! These guys are doing things which are beyond my imagination."

Tej - "Yeah, ma... These people are so brainy."

Nandini brings the fruit plates for Rohan.

Nandini - "Now, both of move away from my son. He needs to eat apple now."

Rohan - "What? Pishimaa... Again apple..."

Nandini - "Yes. Don't try to give any excuses. You already made 30 minutes late."

Rohan - "I'm so tired of eating fruits everyday..."

Romi entered inside with a juicer, "That's why I brought you a juicer and box full of sugar."

Everyone smiles at her.

Rohan - "Hi Romi."

Romi - "Hi Rohan... Don't worry, I'll make a juice for you. Okay?"

Rohan - "So what?"

Romi - "Juices taste better than fruits. You can drink it in seconds and continue 'Stranger Things'..."

Nandini - "No, if Rohan is drinking the juice, he should drink it slowly. No hurry. Okay?"

Romi - "Okay aunty... As you said..."

Romi took the apples from Nandini and made juice out of it. She fed it to Rohan.

Rohan - "Its better."

Romi, Tej, Nandini and Kalyani smiled.

Nandini - "Thanks for making the juice, beta. It is difficult for him to eat the same food for days. But we don't have any option as well."

Romi - "No need of thanking me, aunty. Best friends can do at least this much, right?"

Nandini - "May lord bless you, beta."

Romi smiled.

Rohan - Just 15 days... Then, I would become the normal Rohan. There won't be any plasters..."

Romi - "But you need to take proper rest in order to recover completely from the fracture. Okay?"

Tej - "That's the point, Romi. Rohan, you should take proper rest after coming home too."

Rohan - "Haan okay... I'll take rest... After all for 5 days, these things are required."

Tej is about to reply but Romi sighed not to signing that she'll handle...

Romi - "Yes. But you have to take rest until you recover."

Rohan - "Yeah..."

Romi - "That's the job of good boy."

Everyone smiled.

Nandini - "Romi, did you eat anything? Shall I serve you something?"

Romi - "No need, aunty. I already had my dinner. By the way, there is  a good news. I got seat for my Masters Degree here in Kolkata. The University is very prestigious. Next week, I'm going for admission."

Rohan - "Wow, congratulations Romi. You deserve for your hardwork."

Romi - "A part of gratitude is for you as well, Rohan. I am just confused about my future - whether to do a job or continue studying. You gave me the best solution, Rohan. I think I have to enhance my knowledge and skill more before getting into the job."

Rohan - "That's just a small part. All the best for your college."

Tej - "All the best, Romi. Study well."

Kalyani blessed Romi. 

Nandini - "Happy for you, beta. You'd shine wherever you go."
