Chapter Eighteen 

As soon as they entered the college, all the students started hooting and congratulating them on their win. The atrium had turned into a party hall where everyone was dancing along with the winners; Rey, Taani, Swayam and Sharon. They then went to the principal's cabin.

"Congratulations on your win guys! You all really deserved this!" The principal greeted them.

"Thank you sir!" They all thanked him.

"But you know what, you deserve something more than this.." he trailed off.

All four of them were looking at him with hopeful eyes.

"What sir?" Swayam managed to say.

"All four of you deserve a holiday, you can take a day off today" he said with a smile.

"Thank you sir" Rey said with voice filled with sarcasm.

The principal eyed him while Sharon smacked him on his hand. Rey just faked a smile to the principal and then the four came out of his cabin.

"Rey apna muh nahi band rakh sakte the? Be happy ki ek din toh chutti mil rahi hai! Voh bhi chali jati because of you!" Sharon bombarded on Rey while he just gave her a whatever look earning a giggle from Taani.

"Tumhe badi hasi a rahi hai!" Sharon glared at Taani making her go shut.

Before the diva Sharon killed Rey or Taani, Swayam came to the rescue.

"Guys chalo ghar chalte hai, bohot dino se koi house party nahi ki hai" Swayam suggested changing Sharon's mood.

Rey and Taani sighed in relief and gestured Swayam a thank you for saving them from the about to explode volcano. Swayam, on the other hand, tried hard to control his laughter seeing their faces.

All four reached home where they found Khushi busy watching TV.

"Khushi tum aaj school nahi gayi?" Rey went and sat next to her on the couch.

"Nai bhaiyya. School ko chutti hai for a week" she said with a wide smile to Rey.

"Chutti hai toh khelo yahan din bhar TV mat dekhti baitho" Rey said with a stern face.

Khushi ignored his stern advice and flicked the channel. Song started playing.

Raat ko hoga hungama
Jab chamkega chanda mama
Suit boot ko goli maaro
Pehan ke aa jaao pajama

The four eyed each other and started freaking out in the living room itself.

Seeing them enjoying themselves, Khushi too joined them.

Swayam: Yaaron ki yaari
Taazi karaari
Uspe hai mauqa
Phir kaahe ki duniyadari

Rey: Music lagaaye
Mehfil jamaaye
Duniya ki aisi ki taisi
No zimmedaari

Girls: Woh o o...
Kya chhora... o o

All five do some funky steps with lots of laughing and smiling.

Sharon: Thode sayaane zyada deewane
Teacher ke lecture ko dirty picture bana de

Taani: Jitne bigaadu utne jugaadu
College ke campus ko rocking disco bana de

Khushi came in the centre and depicted the lyrics.

Raat ko hoga hungama

Rey sat on the couch with some attitude and started singing the rap.

Pajama loose loose
Butter chicken and some booze
Kudiyon ka laga hai buffet
Chaahe jo kar lo choose

Taani looked at him wondering if he is really meaning all of it.

Ek ya do
Do ya teen
Kis kis ko main karu choose
Yahaan sab hi hai haseen haseen

She eyed him with anger but unaware of it Rey was continuously singing.

Ye kudiyaan mujhse
Kya kya karwayengi
Mera astrologer bhi hai kehta
Tujhko ladkiyan marwayengi

Taani had gone all red by now due to anger and before her anger could explode Sharon and Swayam distracted her.

After the song ended they all were lazing around chitchatting in the living room.

 "Is there any way jisse yeh kaam ho sakta hai?" said Mr. Singhania coming into the living room.

"Kya hua dad?" Swayam asked looking at the worried look on his face.

"Yeh kuch important documents hai jo Delhi pahuchani hai 'in person' but mein aur tumhari Mom abhi South Africa ke liye nikal rahe hain. Important meeting hai" he said.

"Toh kisi ke haathon bhijva do" Rey suggested.

"Well that's not possible as everyone here is busy with loads of work" he sighed.

"Swayam tum chale jao!" he suddenly exclaimed.

"Mein?" Swayam eyed him.

"Haan, waise bhi koi trusted person chahiye tha mujhe" he said smiling widely at Swayam.

"That's great mein bhi aa jati hoon. Issi bahane dad se bhi mil lungi" Sharon jumped up in excitement.

"Meko bhi ghumne jana hai" Khushi said with a cute pout.

"Toh tum bhi chalo humare saath" said Sharon picking her up.

Khushi hugged her tightly filled with joy.

"Chalo then everything is sorted. Hum sab ko jald se jald nikalna chahiye" said Mrs. Singhania.

"Rey kahan gaya?" asked Taani looking around.

Amidst all the chaos no one noticed Rey going to his room.

"Shayad apne kamre mein gaya ho.." Swayam guessed.

"Tum sab log ja hi rahe ho toh mein bhi chalti hoon.." said Taani.

"Arre Rey toh yahin hai na" said Sharon.

"Lagta hai voh rest karne gaya hai. Even I'll go home and rest. Have a safe journey." said Taani and left.

Everyone was busy with packing and checking if all the important documents are packed or not. Swayam went to Rey's room to get his laptop and found it empty.

"Rey.." Swayam called out for him.

"Haan.." Rey answered from inside the bathroom.

"Hum abhi nikal rahe hai. Take care" saying so Swayam left with his laptop.

Soon everyone left and Rey was left alone in the house. Rey came out of the bathroom after four long hours with red swollen eyes. Hurt was clearly visible on his face. Everyone was so pumped up to leave that no one thought of the fact that he will be alone. No one thought of asking him to come along. This wasn't the first time he was staying alone but the other times it was on his will; and this time, well his approval wasn't even asked.

Rey'sP.O.V.

Swayam could have asked me to join along to which my answer would have definitely been a 'NO' as I didn't want to disturb the two lovebirds; one tiny tot was enough to disturb them. That would have led to me staying here alone but I wouldn't be sad. Only the asking mattered.

But how can I even blame him. Everyone knows, 'Rey is most happy when he is alone at home'. This is the reason no one asked. Then why am I sad? Why do I feel left out? Is it because she was here?

Maybe, maybe it's the fact that everyone ignored me in front of her is making me sad. Taani must be thinking of me as a 'Loner' about whom nobody cares and who is left alone.

End of P.O.V.

'Empty mind is a Devil's home!' This devil was creating baseless thoughts depressing Rey.

The whole day Rey stayed in his room. He felt like the only person being alive on this planet. He didn't have food nor felt like doing anything. Soon the night fell and his tired mind gave up and he slept.

The next morning Taani woke up early feeling restless. She knew something was wrong and really wanted to find it out. She left early for college. On reaching college she searched the entire college but didn't find Rey, who used to come quite early to college.

'Aaj Swayam nahi toh janab so rahe hai. Abhi uthati hoon.' Thought Taani and dialed his number.

'Phone bhi nahi utha raha. Fine keep sleeping!' grumped Taani and went to attend lectures.

The college ended but there was no sign of Rey. Taani was getting worried now. She rushed to Singhania mansion. She entered in by using the keys she had. The  whole mansion was full of darkness. Not a single voice was being heard. She wentto Rey's room and opened the door of his room with shivering hands. Nothing was visible so she switched on the light and found Rey sitting in one corner of the room.

Due to sudden brightness he narrowed his eyes and looked up to see who switched on the lights. Taani was shocked seeing his condition. Baggy pockets were visible below his eyes which were blood shot red. She quickly rushed to him and cupped his face.

"Rey kya hua? Tum yahan aise kyun baithe ho? Rey why are you crying?" Taani started asking him a series of questions.

Rey just got up and moved aside, "Mein theek hoon Taani. Tum yahan kyun aayi ho? Tum bhi mujhe chod ke chali jao!"

"Rey.." Taani whispered. She felt his pain. She understood the reason behind his sadness. She knew what was he thinking and she had to remove those thoughts from his mind by hook or by crook.

"Rey, tum kyun itne upset ho? Kal sab kuch itne jaldi ho gaya ki kisine tumhare baare mein socha nahi" as soon as she said it she bit her tongue realizing what she just said.

"Sahi kahan tumne. Kisine mere bare mein nahi socha. Dad wanted a trustworthy person he chose Swayam; Sharon too left; even Mom and Khushi, Khushi toh bye bole bina hi chali gayi. Aur tum bhi. Tum bhi mujhe akela chod ke chali gayi" Tears were flowing down his cheeks.

"Rey mein tumhe kabhi akela nahi chod sakti" she said wiping off his tears. "Aur please tum yeh sab fizool ki baatein apne dimaag se hata do. No one has left you out. Koi tumhe akela nahi chod sakta mein bhi nahi, because we love you"
