Chapter 27

 

Mehek lifted her heavy eyelids, she glanced at the bedside clock to realise that she had slept past her usual timing. She shyly smiled remembering their passionate night. Her eyes and hands searched for Shaurya but was disappointed by his absence. She glanced across the room, flowers and candles were removed and no signs of their discarded clothes, no reminisces of last night were visible. Shaurya may have woke up earlier and tidied up before staff came. He was always the prim and proper, however Mehek was not glad. It was not the way she had imagined her first morning after they consummated their marriage. She wanted him closer, cuddled to her and teasing her, making her blush. She wanted his promise to cherish their togetherness and seal it with an emotional kiss. Unfortunately he was no way around, probably went ahead with his routine.  She wondered whether it didn't mean notable for him. She knew that men & women had entirely different perception here. Stop it Mehek. You are thinking too much, she rebuked herself . However she didn't fail to notice that a clean bathrob was kept beside her side. While she wore it to cover her naked body, she mused "I am just being unfair. He loves me and cares a lot about me. Couples need to communicate more about their likes and dislikes. I just have to talk to him".

 

After a hot shower and good breakfast, she definitely felt better. She waited for his call, yet no message or call came from him. As a stubborn child, she too didn't reach him. Finally when she lost her patience and was about to call him that she received Nehal's call. After Nehal's suicide attempt, Mehek had distanced herself from her. Subsequently Mehek had undergone a whirlwind of events in her life that she never got enough time to patch up with Nehal. Nehal on the other hand felt guilty for her Di's misfortunes and kept herself away from her as punishment. They had minimal interactions and overtime they were poles apart. But now Mehek was happily settled in her marital life and wanted to rekindle her friendship with her sibling. She answered Nehal's call merrily, "Hello Ms Rockstar. Finally you got time to talk to your Di. Don't you ever forget that I am your Jethani too". Nehal couldn't help to control her tears of happiness, she sobbed over phone and said "I missed you Di. Missed you a lot". Next few minutes passed with sisters bonding with each other and catching up. Nehal let out suspicion that their father was secretly dating someone and it was none other than their mother Meera. Mehek was not enthusiastic about it but accepted that their father knew what was best for him. Slowly Nehal opened up to her about her fears of her impending marriage. Nehal was always a carefree character. Being tied down in marriage was getting on her nerves. Mehek  patiently advised her and helped her to overcome her fears. Finally she asked one question which perplexed Mehek, "Di, should I reveal to him about the past incident that took in my life? I know husband & wife need to be honest with each other but I am not comfortable sharing this dark part of my past with anyone". Mehek knew she was referring to her elopement with Rohit and abuse she suffered. If it was not for Shaurya, Sharma family would have lost Nehal forever. "I cannot help you here Nehal. It's your call. You have to decide. Take your time, think properly and take action. Just remember that me & your Jiju are always there to support", Mehek told. Nehal smiled, "Wow Di, so quickly you added Jiju in your team. Lagta hain unka rang chad raha hain aap pe". "Shut Up, Nehu", she rebuked her playfully. They talked for few more minutes. 

 

Shauray was buried under work when Mehek dashed to his cabin. "Why did you leave me like that? ", she shot at him. "Hello, Biwi. I am fine. Thanks for asking", he joked. "Is it some kinda joke?", she asked seriously. His eyes turned wicked when he slowly rose from his seat and came near her. Whole day he used his work to abandon her thoughts, her passion and her love. Yet seeing her now, everything rushed back.  His fingers slowly grazed from her hand to arm then to her shoulder and finally resting on her chin. "What happened Mehek? Did you think I left you after taking your virginity?", he asked intently. "No, I didn't. It's just that..." her words went silent when his finger softly brushed her lips. "You trust me , don't you?", he asked intensely. "Yes , I do.", her answer was determined without hint of doubt. "That's my girl. Exactly what I wanted to hear",  his forehead met her and he whispered, "I love Mehek. You mean the world to me". They were having their moment but he quickly withdrew leaving her amazed. " You slept peacefully but I didn't get a wink of sleep. I spend the entire night watching you , waiting for you to wake but you didn't. I must admit I enjoyed every bit of it, gazing at my adorable wife. Finally it was time for me to leave, I didn't have the heart to wake you up", he explained. "You could have waited a bit more", she knew she was being a bit unfair. " I couldn't. I wanted to come early and finish all my work so that I can spend a fruitful honeymoon with my wifey", he dramatically pulled out an envelope and gave it to her,"Tickets to Switzerland. We are leaving tonight for a week. Just you and me". "Really ? I am so happy Shaurya. I always wanted to visit Alps of Switzerland", she was excited. "You may be a bit disappointed. As I have no plans to keep out of our bed", he acted naughty. She blushed and pushed him softly, "You have become so shameless". "Especially after last night", he winked at her. "I will go and pack", she left all excited about the trip. Shaurya looked at her lovingly, feeling glad to see her exuberance. Mehek was all set for their honeymoon trip. She was busy packing entire evening. She was so glad when she heard him arrive and ran to meet him only to be discontent seeing his worried face. "Shaurya , what happened ?", she was anxious. "Mehek, Nehal met with an accident. We need to rush back home", he informed her.

 

Nehal was out of danger though still critical. Her car met with an accident while she was returning from Meeraji's home. Shaurya and Mehek went straight to hospital from airport. Vicky, Karuna and Sonal were at hospital. Mehek saw her visibly shaken parents staying near the ICU. After years she saw her mother and father together, worrying and supporting each other. Their care and love for each other was evident. She was woken by Shaurya's warm hand on her shoulder, gesturing her to reach to her parents. She moved to them, "Mom , Dad don't worry. Nothing will happened to Nehal. She will be fine". She choked a sob when her mother hugged her and wept. They were having their emotional moment after years of separation. Khannas were happy seeing them together , Vicky & Shaurya went near Karuana and side hugged her. All looked happy except Sonal who was irritated by all this. Doctor came out of ICU and told them that Nehal is stable now and getting better. While Sharmas, Vicky and Karuna was listening to Doctor, Shaurya noticed Sonal withdrawing to a dark corridor. For long we wanted to have lone moment with her and followed her with grabbing attention of others.

 

Despite multiple requests, Meera was adamant to stay at hospital. Considering her father's heart condition, Mehek didn't allow him to strain more. Karuna and Vicky decided to stay at hospital. Shaurya dropped Sonal at her home and drove Mehek & Harish to Sharma house. As it was pretty late, Mehek and Shaurya decided spend night at Sharma house. After ensuring that her dad is settled in his room, Mehek reached her room to find Shaurya standing at her balcony. His eyes were gazing aimlessly at the star studded sky. Mehek said to him, " A heavy load lifted from me after making peace with mom. I am so happy that all grievances came to an end and we all are one big family again". "Nothing lasts forever Mehek. Everything has it's end", he told her carelessly. Mehek noticed that something was worrying Shaurya. "Shaurya are you okay? Is something bothering you?", she asked earnestly. "Nothing my love. I just wish... that this night won't end. Iss raat ki koi subah na ho", he said. "Shaurya, tell me wh...", he didn't allow her to talk. "Don't say anything. I want to forget all. Let me lose myself in you", he said fervently. He gently kissed her, soon it became demanding. All her concerns and resistance faded away as she slowly melted into his passion. Without breaking the kiss, he swiftly swept her into his arms and went inside. Soon the night witnessed their ardent lovemaking. 

Mehek was half-conscious early morning when Shaurya kissed her bye and left her to rest. Mehek and Harish visited hospital. Vicky dropped Meera and Karuna home and promised to come back soon. By afternoon, Mehek got some time for herself and dialled Shaurya. To her surprise, Sonal answered it. "Mehek, it's me Sonal. Shaurya is bit busy now and can't come to phone. He wants to meet you urgently and asked you to come to his office ", Sonal disconnected the call without giving further information. When Mehek reached Shaurya's cabin, Sonal was still with him. Once Mehek entered, Sonal courteously stood up, "Maybe I will leave you too alone". Shaurya locked the door and told, "No need Sonal. I need you here, as a friend or as my witness". Mehek was confused, "What's this all about?". "It's the finale of a grand game, my love", he stated dramatically. Mehek shot a questioning glance to Sonal but she just shrugged and gave an I-told-you-so expresssion. "Mehek Sharma, you and me are done, finished", he announced keeping his winning smirk. "What ?? What are you saying ?", she went ahead to hold Shaurya. But he grabbed her shoulders painfully and growled, "How does it feel, Ms Sharma ? To give yourself completely to someone and be betrayed. It hurts , doesn't it? I betcha. Wondering how I know? Coz years back you gave me the same pain". "No,  This is not true. You are bluffing", she blabbered. "Oh my poor,,poor, poor Mehek", he pushed her and moved towards Sonal. "You know Sonal, it was not an easy task. Hell!! it was tough to gain her love & trust again. But I relentlessly pursued and finally she gave in and I could taste her flesh. Yet all worth it. Absolutely", he grinned wickedly giving lecherous glance at her. "But now I am bored. You are not that attractive to hold my interest for long.  So Ms Sharma, I breaking up with you. Take your pathetic existence and get out of my life now", he roared. Mehek didn't want to weep infornt of him, however tears had their own way. She quickly wiped them off and headed to the door, but she felt light headed and stumbled. Before Shaurya could help her, Sonal held her and supported to gain her balance, "Mehek, are you okay? I always told you about Shaurya's intentions. You never paid heed to me". Mehek gained her composure and exited. Before leaving she glanced back, saw his back turned to her. Sonal kept her hand on his shoulder and told, "You must be made of iron to break her heart like this". " I am much stronger and ruthless than you can ever imagine", he replied to her crudely.
