Chapter 1
PROLOGUE
AT A POSH CLUB
Mehek gulped down a shot of whiskey and ordered for another. She gave an admiring look at the cute guy who was singing at the club. He was surrounded by girls who flocked around him and many yelled, "Aarush, we love you". She viciously looked at them and murmured, "F***ing bi***es. He belongs to me". She smiled wickedly while bartender served her the drink. As she extended to touch the glass, a women clad in formals pushed it away. "Swati, my bestie. Where were you my trusted lieutenant? Why are you still in office wear? Let's chill , Buddy", Mehek told her. "Get a grip, Mehek. Can't you stay sober even for a night?", she admonished her. "Nope", she giggled. Swati didn't join her laugh and stood serious. Mehek raised an eyebrow to enquire. "She died at hospital", Swati informed. Mehek turned away avoiding Swati to see her tensed face. "So??", Mehek masked her guilt and asked plainly. "How could you take it so lightly? For God sake, she was pregnant", Swati was unable to tolerate Mehek's attitude. "She should have thought about it before barging into my home. Besides I was high on coke and could hardly recollect anything", Mehek lifted glass to her lips. "You father has to heavily bride the cops and hospital authorities to hush it up. Still I am sure her family have already suspected foul play. There will be consequences, princess .Do you even perceive gravity of the situation, Mehek?", Swati was desperate to put some sense into her. "I get it dear but what the use of bragging it about now? All consequences has a price tag attached to it. I am sure my father's money will handled it all. So why should I bother?", Mehek was tipsy. Swati timidly glanced at Aarush who was now signing autographs and posing for selfies. "Does Aarush know about it?", Swati asked. "Not yet. Better to keep mum now. He has a big audition tomorrow so no need to spoil his mood. Anyways I don't think he would care. She was just one of those use and throw kind of girl for him", Mehek told carelessly. "Still she was carrying his child. That may mean something to him. Aren't you afraid that he may get angry?", Swati was skeptical. "Perhaps. But I don't give a f**k", she finished her drink and asked for bill when Aarush came beside them. "Good evening , ladies", he was exchanging pleasantries with Swati when Mehek abruptly pulled him and slammed her lips on him. Swati looked at them distastefully and left quickly while they were busy in their makeout session.
AT A HOSPITAL
"Mr. Shaurya Singh Ahlawat?", a nurse called out his name. He wiped his tears and stood up. "All formalities are over. You can collect her body from morgue. Please sign these forms", she handed him few documents. With trembling hands he completed all formalities and nurse gave him a sympathetic look. "Sister, How is the baby?", he asked earnestly. "Still in incubator. We are doing everything we can to save her. Rest is in God's hands", she try to console him. Shaurya wasn't sure whether he should still believe in God. Coz past few hours have been extreme trial for him. He had rushed to hospital only to be greeted by news of her demise. Light of his life was gone; no it was blown away. The only person whom he loved wholeheartedly, was abruptly taken away from him. He folded his hands and prayed to spare precious life she had left behind. "Please save her, my Lord. Have mercy on me", he wept.
FEW WEEKS LATER
Shaurya was waiting restlessly in the hospital corridor. Suddenly a flash news on television grabbed his attention. Upcoming singer Aarush Agarwal and socialite Mehek Singh Maan are getting engaged. This high profile alliance also leads to business merger between Agarwals & Maans. Shauyra's balled his fists in anger, 'It is unfair. They are responsible for my loss and have to pay for it'. But he swiftly composed himself when Doctor brought the baby to him. "She is doing fine, Mr Ahlawat. Yet since she is a premature baby, ensure to take extra care for her", doctor advised. "Ofcourse Doctor", he agreed. "Have you found a name for her?", Doctor asked. He smiled and nodded, "Her mother wanted to name her as Aarti"
