Chapter 2
Just updating for the people who at least stopped by and appreciated and liked it. That's how life is! You have to appreciateappreciate what you got than be upset for what you don't have. Anyways, enjoy! Not proofread!
She was sitting in her balcony looking at the beautiful solitaire that adorned her ring finger. She always wanted exactly the same simple elegant engagement ring but today, she wasn't happy about it. Probably, before anything else, she wanted him to slide that or for that matter, any ring. She wanted to be with him at the end of the day but life loves to play games. Wiping the tears, she went inside because se felt cold. Delhi's winters leaves you with strange cold in your heart.
In the living room were seated Meera, Nehal and Mehek. While the former two were discussing of the guest list the latter one was lost in her own thoughts. "Maa, how could you forget Shaurya. Haha! Remember that Di's best friend." Nehal chuckled, not knowing she's scratching the worst wound of her sister. "Oh haan. He was to come back from States na. You take up an invite for him too." Meera said noting his name too. "Maa, can I just go and invite him, please?" Mehek said in the softest of the tone pleading her Mom. "Of course honey, he's after all your best friend." Meera told. Mehek wanted to finish it once and for all so that she could move on without any burden of her past.
Her heart was thumping vigorously against her ribcage. Pressing the doorbell for once she stood there waiting for the door to be opened. To her surprise, Shaurya opened the door and not some servant. Her legs felt week but she stood unaffected, at least tried to. "Oh Mehek. Come, come in. What a pleasant surprise." Shaurya was excited to see her again. "Hmm. Actually came here to give you something and invite you." She stated the reason for her arrival. "Invite?" He was confused. "Ahaan. You and your girlfriend are cordially invited to attend my wedding ceremony. We'll be glad to have you with us. And here is something I wanted to return." She placed the invitation card and a wooden box and left without even looking back once.
"Who was it Shaurya?" Shruti said descending from the stairs. "Mehek thi." Shaurya told still looking at the door. "Mehek? The same one on airport?" Shruti asked. "Ahaan. Came here to invite us for her wedding." Shaurya looked at the invitation card and the wooden box in his hand. Shruti was happy because she got to attend an Indian wedding. She was all excited but Shaurya wasn't. He went to his room still holding both the box and the card.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, Shaurya opened the box carefully. There was a handmade bracelet, few birthday cards and a piece of paper perfectly laminated and kept folded. That bracelet, he remembered he made for Mehek in their arts and crafts class when they were in class fifth. He smiled looking at it. He read all the birthday wishes he wrote for and he felt so silly. Lastly, he opened the paper. His confession letter. He felt uneasy and kept everything back and locked it in his safe.
Decked up in off white and sunshine yellow saree and jewelleries of flowers, Mehek looked the perfect bride to be. All the ladies were applying haldi for her to glow like a moon on her wedding day. She wasn't as happy as she thought she would be on her special days but she wasn't sad either. It's always great to move on. Unexpectedly, Shaurya did attend the ceremony with his girlfriend of course but he happy about anything though he should be.
"Oh God yaar! This is so boring. Let's have some fun guys! Kuch gaana bajaana ho jaaye?" Nehal announced. "Haan haan. Let's play antakshari? What's say?" Rahil suggested. All except two people were happy about it. They all sat in a circle with Shruti together with Shaurya because she didn't know any bollywood songs. Nehal's friend took to music system. She was to stop the music while there will be a passing the parcel going on. Simple rules. All set!
The music stopped and Nehal was the first bait. She got up and pulled Rahil too with her in the middle of the circle they were sitting in.
I like dandiya, I like garba
But if you really wanna party
Throw your hands up and twist 'em around
Do the bhangra everybody
C'mon do the bhangra everybody
C'mon do the bhangra everybody
Shruti liked the beat of the song and she too joined them in no time.
Nothing like my Jatt mahiya
Nothing like my mutiyaara
Nothing like some kangna-shangna
And loung da lashkara
Buggi te wuggi main gidda gholna
I, toh go crazy ke jab vajde
Punjabi Wedding Song
I, toh go crazy ke jab vajde
Punjabi Wedding Song
Dholon ke beaton pe main to dolna
Nehal invited Mehek and Shaurya too to join the bhangra team and have fun for life.
Haay sharam chhadd ke lage jhatke
Hai ismein nothing wrong
I, toh go crazy ke jab vajde
Punjabi wedding song
I like dandiya, I like garba
But if you really wanna party
Throw your hands up and twist them around
Do the bhangra everybody
C'mon do the bhangra everybody
Meera came in with waiters having snacks that they distributed among the guests. Neheal also pulled her into joining them.
Aye baaja, te waja, te ghodi, te shaamiyana
Laddu, te shaddu, te lassi, te khana wana
Happiness makkhan maar ke ho gai multiply
Chacha, te chachi, te mami, te beeji veeji
Hothon pe laali, te phonon mein 3G veeji
Show show waali garm hawa pe kardi rehndi fly
Chheti champagne'o ke dhakkan kholna
I, toh go crazy ke jab vajde
Punjabi wedding song

That was a pretty warm up session for all the boring guests. Nehal had that charm to excite everyone. Now it was looking like something called wedding. Everyone took their seats and music started to play again. Shaurya, it was his turn to show his skills.
Dholak mein taal hai, Payal mein chan chan
Dholak mein taal hai,Payal mein chan chan
Ghoonghat mein gori hai, Sehre mein saajan
Jahaan bhi ye jaayein, bahaarein hi chaayein
Ye khushiyaan hi paayein, Mere dil ne dua di hai
Mere yaar ki shaadi hai,
Mere yaar ki shaadi hai,
Rahil and Shruti joined him with their dance followed by Nehal. Probably these three were the most excited ones. Meera just smiled looking at her kids.

Ye khushiyaan hi paayein, Mere dil ne dua di hai
Mere yaar ki shaadi hai,
Mere yaar ki shaadi hai,
Mere yaar ki shaadi hai,
Mere yaar ki shaadi hai,
It was no longer Shaurya's task but the entire guests joined in singing and dancing to the beat of the amazing song he chose to sing.
Hoye hoye hoye hoye hoye,
Hoye hoye hoye hoye hoye,

The song ended and Mehek left to her room stating that she needed to fix her saree. Shaurya followed her thinking that it was something else. Mehek searched for something in her entire room but couldn't get it. "Are you searching for this?" Shaurya forwarded a chocolate bar. She took it and started eating and pouring out just in front of him not caring what he'll think of her. "You still need chocolate when you're upset?" Shaurya asked. She just nodded and forwarded her hand in which he kept one more bar. "Do I need to ask why are you crying or you'll tell it once you're done because I know it's no use to calm you down. You'll cry more." Shaurya stated as a matter of fact. "It's just wedding nervousness." She lied bluntly. "Oh I see." He said. Mehek for once thought he'll understand she lying like old times but sab badal gaya hai and she needs to accept it as soon as possible. . Though he stood there until she was done.
To be continued...
Hello hello! I don't know if I'll be able to bind this up in one more chapter but I'll try. Also, now that I was lenient and gave the update before the target thing but don't take it for granted. I still was 22+ likes until I update next one. I don't want to write for people who can't even appreciate my hard work just by pressing a like button. It doesn't cost them much, not that I'm asking for a comment. Ah! Enough said. Tada until next time
