Next morning, Sameer descended the marble stairs to ground story of their house, sliding his wrist in and snapped yet another lock to secure the watch on his wrist. He went to the dinning area and kept standing there for a while to take in the sight that despite being usual, had always been captivating. Ria was sitting at the table for breakfast and Naina coaxing her to drink down a glass of milk placed before her. Sameer chuckled inwardly wondering when would the day come when she would drink her glass of milk without making faces? And thanks God for blessing him with such a beautiful family that he had. He couldn't have ask for more. As he would say it Bas ab aur kya chaiye zindagi mei, being totally unaware that bhagwanji and his khusiyo ka pitara were not done with him yet. There was more to come. Just then Naina discerned him standing there wearing charcoal grey suit that was tailored to the contours of his body, and a crisp white shirt complementing each other, a silky navy tie was tied around his neck perfectly. His thick silky black hair was combed neatly; his face was clean shaven today, after having grown out stubbly for a week again. Naina had kind of developed liking for his heavily stubbled face by now. He looked neat, clean and handsome clean shaven but with beard he wasn't just handsome but way more than that-hot and sexy. Naina noticed that he looked all formal and handsome. Correspondingly Sameer noticed her pretty self clad in salmon pink cotton A line kurta and leggings, long dark hair tied up in a messy bun, and some wispy flyaway hairs frame her face beautifully, which provided her with an apperance of being a fresh, young blooming bud. They shared a fleeting eyelock for it had gradually become a tendency to look into each other's eyes at times, when their lips remained sealed shut and eyes spoke volumes off the cuff. They exchanged a knowing smile and Sameer walked up to the dinning table. "Good Morning." He said as he unbottoned his coat and took his seat beside Ria, the resonance in his voice was as chirpy as he was in the morning. Both his beloved girls wished him back merrily in unison. Naina poured some orange juice into an elegant crystal glass and handed it to him. "Mai jaldi se tumhara nashta lekar ati hu." She then went to the kitchen, and Ria finally got a chance to have some private conversation with Daddy dear. "Papa, suno jaldi se." she spoke in hushed tone. Sameer who just took a sip of the juice, immediately paid attention to her voice and looked toward her face questioningly. She moved closer to him and began speaking again, "Hamara mission start ho chuka hai. Sab kuch theek se hona chaiye commaddo!" She spoke in an undertone, more like commanded him.
Sameer opened his mouth to speak but a quick laugh slipped out instead, "Why she had to be so cute?" "Commaddo nahi Commander." He corrected her.
"Yeah that's what I said Commaddo." She said, her big eyes widening even more.
Sameer chuckled openly at her naivete and leaned closer, whispering "Aye Aye Captain." to tuck a stray lock of her wet hair behind her ear.
A minute later Naina came back with a tray of toasts and butter. "Ria, jaldi se apna breakfast khatam karo bachche fir school ki liye ready bhi hona hai." She said and set the tray down on the table and herself on the chair opposite to them.
Ria didn't say anything but started chewing a mouthful of Paratha. Her ephemeral furrowed brows at the mention of school didn't go unnoticed by Sameer and he grinned to himself.
Naina buttered a piece of toast and put on Sameer's plate. Just when she was about to do one for herself Ria screamed in pain or it would be better to say fake pain. One cry out of her mouth was enough to adhere wheels to Naina's legs and in a flash she was standing right beside Ria,wile Sameer chooked on his toast, "And there she starts,"
"Kya hua?" Naina's voice snowed under with concern and worry.
"Aaah Mumma daat mei dard ho raha hai.." Ria uttered a yelp as she placed her palm flat on her right cheek.
"Daat mei? Achanak kaise? Kaha kis daat mei?"
"Wo... wo ache wale daat mei.." this just slipped out Ria's mouth impromptu and Sameer really had a hard time controlling his laughter that was fidgeting to push through the boundary of his lips.
"Ache wala daat?" Fresh lines of worry on Naina's forehead seemed to be getting replaced by a frown. Finding herself being caught out, Ria intensified the pitch of her cries and Naina got involved in her once again, keeping her ACP Pradyuman ki bhanji wala avtaar aside.
Suddenly her eyes took notice of Sameer's cool and calm reaction. On any other day he would've caused tremendous uproar in the entire house, seeing Ria in pain. But today he simply sat there like a bump on a log and watched her, the expression around his face read somewhat amazed, much to Naina's disbelief. Little did she know that the cute devil they'd created together left him astonished by her drama in progress.
"Sameer?" She called his name on top of her voice, that swung him into action, as a result he sprung up from his chair swiftly, fumbled for what to say for a second and spoke up in a clumsy way, "Haan, papa ki jaan kya hua?" even though he tried to sound worried, as much as he could.
"Dekho tum ise, mai dentist ka number lekar aati hu!" Naina spoke up and hurried to the bottom of the stairs, crept up quickly and hurried down the corridor that lead to her bedroom.
She returned only to find Sameer gathering Ria up in his arms. Before she could make out the drift of his action, "Tum par wase hi kaam ka itna pressure hota hai ajkal, tum jao, isko mai dentist ke pass le jata hu aur fir wapas ghar drop kar duga, wase bhi mera aaj koi important work ya meeting lined up nahi hai" Sameer sputtered it all on the trot. "Lekin sam..." and her words remained in her mouth as him already rushed toward the front door and at the speed of light they both vanished from her sight. Though she wanted to accompany them to his car that was parked outside but couldn't for the reason that she felt faint abruptly, and had to hold on the wall behind to keep from falling.
"Naina didi..." just then their maid Rajjo appeared before her. Naina could hear she was saying something to her but sounded far away.
"Naina didi aap theek to hai?!" Rajjo asked aghast.
"Wo mai..." Naina felt the blood rush from her head and she staggered backward, leaning against the wall.
Rajjo strode toward her, "Aap aie mere saath." She led Naina to the nearest chair, sat her on it, brought her a glass of cold water and opened all the windows around and let fresh air surge in. The cool fresh air revive Naina and she felt less disoriented and dizzy.
"Mai sahab ko phone karti hu." Rajjo said but Naina stopped her from doing so. Not that she didn't want to disturb him or something like that. She hadn't told this to anyone and had succeeded in keeping from Sameer so far, but such dizziness, morning sickness had been frequent visitors to her, since about a week. And she being mother of a child, had a good idea of what it could be, but didn't want to jump to a conclusion without having it confirmed by her doctor.
"Bhagwan kare jo mai soch rahi hu wo sach ho!", she felt a gush of warmth spread through her being that effectuated the delicate pink colour to tint her cheeks.
Sameer and Ria drove off to nearby stationery store for Ria wanted to buy some things she would require to make a gift for Naina and that was the principal mode of formation of her toothache natak that she might skip school.
In the afternoon, Naina was sitting in doctor's cabin. Doctor had done all her test and when she came back there was a huge smile on her face that cemented Naina's hope.
"Mubarak ho Naina you're pregnant!" said the Doctor as she took her seat infront of Naina.
That moment was something whose seed had already germinated in her heart, and doctor's confimation served as food and water, wherefore it shot up to a cross of elation and excitement. How she wished for Sameer and Ria by her side right now.
"Mumma mujhe ek bhai chaiye." One day very innocently Ria had asked her for a brother, having attended her school friend Zoya's birthday party.
"Bhai? Wo kyun?" Naina asked, surprised.
"Haan fir mai bhi usse apne sare kaam karwaya karugi jaise Zoya karwati hai apne bhai se aur aap Arjun mama se." Ria spoke up and Naina broke out at her innocence.
"Thank you... thank you so much Doctor!" Naina spoke up, a whole hearted smile adorned her face.
"Poore dhai mahine ho chuke hai and since its your second pregnancy, you know very well that you've to be extra careful now." Doctor said and handed Naina her priscription.Nodding Naina took it.
She smiled trough the tears glittered in her eyes ready to roll down her cheeks anytime, all the while she walked toward the cab waiting for her in the hospital parking lot. She had never seen her mother, nor she had ever cried for this reason. Because she always had chachiji by her side who loved her more than she loved her own children Pooja and Preeti. The way Chachiji would cry, seeing them in pain, the way she used to sit beside them whole night if any of them was ill always amazed Naina. But now she understood that motherhood is a divine emotion and being a mother is the best feeling in the world. The minute she hop in the car, she reached into her bag and pulled her cell phone out. She smiled gently as she texted Sameer.
Sameer was having a casual discussion on a presentation with his friend cum business partner Munna in his cabin, when his text message alert tone went off. He punched the ok button just to learn whose, but the name it flashed didn't even took a second to catch his whole attention. Munna observed him getting indulged in something in his phone abruptly. And It wasn't rocket science to understand in what? for he recognized that silly, innocent smile of Sameer and knew very well with whom it belonged to.
"Achanak se tumhe bohat miss kar rahi hu. Ho sake to sham ko ghar jaldi aa jana. Aur haan... I love you." Sameer read the message while his smile grew wider.
"Your wish is my command my love. Bilkul mai ghar jaldi aauga. And I love you too." He typed his reply and hit the send button. When he put his phone on the table before him, he noticed Munna staring at him smiling, his chin rested on his palm, elbow on the table and a smile plastered on face that Sameer couldn't read.
"Hmmm? Ye tum itne khatarnaak andaaz mei mujhe kyu ghoor rahe ho?" He asked, raising his brows.
"Nahi mai to ye soch raha hu ki shaadi ko itna time ho gaya tumhari lekin asshiqui hai Jo badhti hi ja rahi hai. Dekh Sipahi ke message par aaj bhi school time ki tarah blush karta hai." Said Munna as he lifted his head and sink down in his chair.
"Nahi yaar wo bas," wait a minute, Sameer paused then spoke again "Tujhe kaise pata ki message Naina ka tha?"
Now Munna gave a loud laugh, "Shakal dekhni chaiye tujhe abhi apni ekdam majnu wali ho rakhi hai, aur jaha tak mujhe pata hai is majnu ki ek hi laila hai."
Sameer felt embarrassed "Baat galt bh nhi hai, hu to mai Naina ka majnu hi." He though then said "Chod yaar subah se aur koi mila nhi kya tujhe taang khichne ko? Chal saath me ek ek cup coffee ho jae."
"Coffee mere liye hi mangwana. Mera nhi khayal ab tujhe coffee ki mithas ki jarurat hai." Munna seemed not to put an end to this teasing season. Rather!
Sameer joined his hands playfully, "baksh de mere bhai mujhe." And both shared a friendly laugh.
