Sameer is back to Mumbai next day. He calls up Arjun. Arjun takes the call.
Arjun: Hey Sam! Mai tujhe hi call karne wala tha !!! Congratulations!!! kal se TV par tum aur tumahri team chhaye huye ho... itna bada drug racket pakda gaya... Great job!!
Sameer(serious and gloomy): Thanks Rawte!
Arjun: Kya hua Sam? tum itna srious kyun sound kar raha hai? koi problem hai kya?
Sameer: Haan Arjun... ek problem hai... can we meet as early as possible?
Arjun: OK... shaam ko miltey hain... 6 baje... I'll pick you up from your office...
Sameer: OK...
In the evening Arjun picks up Samer and Sameer insists that they go to Sameer's place.

At Sameer's place.
Arjun: kya baat hai Sam? koi serious problem hai kya?
Sameer hands him a list of people who were taken in custody from the rave party.
Arjun takes the list.
Arjun: ye kya hai?
Sameer: Rave party mein pakde gaye logo ki list
Arjun: to ye tu mujhe kyun de raha hai...
Sameer: 18th numer par jo naam hai wo dekh...
Arjun is confused but goes through the list and is shocked to see the name "Payal Suryakant Rawte"
Arjun(flares up): Ye kya bakwaas hai Sameer? ye nahi ho sakta... ye shayad koi aur ladki hogi jo apna naam Payal Suryakant Rawte bata rahi hai... ye meri Payal nahi ho sakti... meri Payal aisi nahi hai...
Sameer: Calm down Arjun... ye tumhari Payal hi hai... mila mai usse wahan...
Arjun is startled.
Sameer: haan... ab wo waisi nahi rahi jaisa tum usey chhod aaye they... bahut badal gayi hai wo... par fir bhi ek baat hai usmein jo ab bhi nahi badli... uska tumhare liye pyar... jo ladki apne papa ke paise aur pahunch ki dhamki de rahi thi... tumhara naam sun ke usne khud apni galti maan li... sirf isliye ki wo tumhari reputation par koi daag nahi lagne dena chahti...wo tumhare naam ka fayda utha kar sazaa se bachna nahi chahti..
Arjun is in tears now.
Flashback starts *
The moments spent with his sister flash in front of his eyes
Little Payal riding a cycle and Arjun running behind her helping her balance it.
Payal fell down from the cycle and is crying. Arjun comes and wipes her tears and hugs her.
Doctor coming with and injection and crying Payal clutching Arjun's shirt tightly pleading doctor not to inject.
Flashback ends *
Arjun is snapped out by Sameer's voice.
Sameer: Arjun!!! she needs you... tumhe uske saath hona chahiye...
Arjun(breaths a deep sigh): i know Sam ... par mai us ghar mein nahi ja sakta ...
Sameer: apni behen ke liye bhi nahi Arjun? maine mehsoos kiya ussey baat karke... wo buri tarah se toot gayi hai ... aur rasta bhatak gayi hai ... aur tumhare Baba uske liye kuch nahi kar saktey ...
Arjun(depressed): wo kya karenge? wo khud hi to zimmedar hain uski is halat ke... unhone usey diya hai to sirf paisa... aaram... saari materialistic cheezein... par kahi apna waqt nahi diya... kabhi pyar se uske sar par haath nahi fera... kabhi usey apne haath se khana nahi khilaya...
Sameer: ye sab to unhone kabhi tumhare liye bhi nahi kiya... lekin tum to us raah par nahi gaye jispar Payal chali gayi...
Arjun: tum kehna kya chahtey ho Sam?
Sameer: Dekho Arjun... mai sirf ye kehna chahta hoon ki ye waqt kisi ko dosh dene ka nahi hai... is waqt tumhe uske paas hona chahiye... pehle hi bahut nuksan ho chuka hai... aur isse pehle ki aur der ho jaye... usey sambhal lo... agar us ghar mein nahi ja saktey to ... ek baar usey call kar lo ... list mein uska contact number hai... tum ussey baat karoge to usey achchha lagega...
Arjun thinks about it.
Sameer: mai koshish karunga ki Payal k against koi case na baney... ya fir usko koi sazaa nahi ho...
Arjun: Dad ka lawyer is baat ko sambhal lega... mujhe uski fikar nahi hai ... tum apni taraf se kuch mat karna... mai nahi chahta ki tum par koi ungli uthaye...
Sameer chuckles.
Arjun: kya hua?
Sameer: kuch nahi !!! tum dono bhai - behen ek jaise ho ... kanoon todtey bhi ho aur kanoon ki izzat bhi kartey ho ... tumhe bhi kitni baar violent behaviour ke liye warnings mili hain...(Both Arjun and Sameer smile).. chalo... ab mai chalta hoon...
Sameer gets up to leave and Arjun calls him
Arjun: Sam!!
Sameer turns. Arjun gets up goes to Sameer and hugs him.
Arjun: Thanks Sam !!!
Sameer: Thanks mat bol Arjun... hum sirf dost nahi hain... we are a family ... and is naatey Payal meri bhi behen hi huyi na...
Sameer leaves.
Arjun calls on Payal's number.
She receives the call and Arjun felt a crack in her voice. It sounded like she was crying.

A little while back. At Rawte Mansion.
Payal's room.
Payal was remembering the event that happened in the police station.
Payal (Thinking): Wo officer Dada ke dost they... maine kis tarah baat ki unse... kya soch rahe honge wo... agar unhone Dada ko sab bata diya to ? (she is scared)... Dada ko kya lagega? Dada mujhse kitni nafrat karenge ... mai sirf Baba ka attention pana chahti thi... unhe thoda pareshan karna chahti thi.. par mai Dada ko kaise bhool gayi (she is in tears) ... wo to department ki shaan hain (her lips curve in to a smile with pride remembering the articles she read in newspaper mentioning Arjun's brave acts)... kya sochenge unke department k log... unke jaise officer ki behen ek drug addict... nahi Payal... aisa nahi hona chahiye... u cant let this happen... u cant let Dada down like this... Aai k jane baad unhone tujhe aai aur Baba dono ka pyar diya hai... unko khud ko jo pyar nahi mila wo saara pyar unhone tujhe diya hai... u cant be so selfish Payal... Papa ko pareshan karke, unka attention paane k liye tu Arjun Dada ko hurt nahi kar sakti... wo kabhi tujhe aise nahi dekhna chahte they...
She gets up and takes out a her and Arjun's old photo from the cupboard. Both were looking so happy in it.She is lost in the memories of the old days.
Flashback begins *
Payal fighting for her gifts on Rakshabandhan.
Payal scared of crackers on Diwali and Arjun laughing and teasing her.
Payal missing her mother and Arjun trying to make her sleep patting her head.
Payal comes running and hugs Arjun and shows him her report card when she topped in class.
Arjun working out in gym in their home and Payal giving him funny looks teasing him of being popular among her friends and he is doing it to impress them.

The day when Arjun left the house.
Mr Suryakant Rawte: you have been a disappointmet for me Arjun... kya kya sapne dekhe they maine tumhare liye... tumhare future ke liye... aur tum... ye mamuli si police ki naukri karna chahtey ho? Ridiculous... arre aise police walo ko mai apni jeb mein rakhta hoon... aur tum... un par raj karne ki jagah unhi mein se ek ban-ne chale ho? bewakoof ho tum...
Arjun: Baba, aisa nahi hai... aur mai yehi soch badalna chahta hoon ki humara system kharab hai... police wale rishwat khor hotey hain... system ke bahar rehkar comments dena aasaan hota hai ... lekin koi system ke andar jakar asliyat ko dekhne ki koshish nahi karna chahta... aur mai bas wohi karna chahta hoon...
Mr Suryakant Rawte: Sab bakwaas hai... asliyat sabke samne hai... tum sirf apna waqt aur energy barbad kar rahe ho... itna waqt aur energy agar tum apne family business mein lagao to tum is empire ko kahan se kahan pahuncha sakte ho... mujhse bhi age nikal saktey ho... par nahi... tumhare sar par to ye system ko badalne ka aur desh ki seva karne ka bhoot sawaar hai... iske aagey tumhe kuch dikhayi hi nahi deta...
Arjun: Baba Please!!!
Mr Suryakant Rawte: Nahi Arjun !!! Faisla ho chuka hai... agar tum is ghar mein rehna chahtey ho to tumhe mujhe family business mein join karna hoga... warna tum ye ghar chhod ke ja satey ho...
Arjun: theek hai ! agar yehi aapki marzi hai to mai ja raha hoon... aur jab tak aap mujhe wapas nahi bulayenge ... mai wapas nahi aunga...
Mr Suryakant Rawte: wapas bulane ka to sawaal hi nahi hai... kyunki tum apni marzi se ja rahe ho...aur ek baat yaad rakhna... is ghar ke darwaze tumhare liye humesha khule hi rahenge... bas shart itni hai ki tumhe apni ye do kaudi ki naukri aur ye apni zid chhod ke apna family business join karna hoga...
Arjun turns to leave.
Mr Suryakant Rawte (sarcastically): waise mai achchhi tarah se janta hoon... ki ye bhoot bahut jaldi hi tumhare sar se utar jayega... aur tum khud wapas aaogey... jis aish-o-aram mein tum pale badhe ho... bahar ki duniya ki takleefein kan tak sahogey...
Payal is listening to all this and is shocked when she sees Arjun is leaving.
Payal holds Arjun's hand to stop him and cries.
Payal(crying): dada... please mujhe chhodke mat jao... i need u dada... ye humara ghar hai... aap aise nahi ja saktey... aap Baba ki baat kyun nahi maan lete...(she looks at her father) Baba... aap samjhaiye na dada ko...
Arjun frees his hand from Payal's clutches.
Arjun: Baba... please Payal ka khayal rakhiyega...
Mr Suryakant Rawte: wo meri beti hai... aur uska khayal rakhne k liye mujhe kisi ki salaah ki zarurat nahi hai... Payal... tum apne room mein jao...
Arjun leaves
Payal(to her father): Baba ... aap to bade hain... aap bhi to Dada ki baat maan saktey hain... please aisa mat kijiye...
Mr Suryakant Rawte turns and leaves the living room ignoring Payal's pleas
Payal runs outside behind Arjun.
Payal(still crying): Dada... Dada... please ruk jaiye...
Arjun: Nahi Payal... ab mai nahi ruk sakta (looks at their mansion one last time and then looks at Payal again) ... apna aur Baba ka khayal rakhna... u r a big girl now...
Payal : Nahi Dada... i need u ...
Arjun: Nahi Payal aisa nahi kehte... ek na ek din to tumko bhi apne pairon par khada hona hai... zindagi doosron ke sahare nahi kat-ti...
Payal: to fir mai bhi apke saath chalungi
Arjun: Nahi Payal... mera rasta bahut mushkil hai... aur Baba ko bhi tumhari zarurat hai... ab tumhe unka beta ban-na hoga... tum apna education poora karke Baba ka business sambhalne mein unki help karo... i'm sure tum ye kar sakti ho...
Payal: Nahi... Baba ko meri koi fikar nahi hai... unhe apki bhi koi fikar nahi hai... unhone Aai ki bhi kabhi fikar nahi ki...aur unka business join karke, mai unki tarah nahi banna chahti ...Dada... please...
Arjun: Nahi Payal... be strong...
Mr Suryakant Rawte looks at them from the window of his room.
Mr Suryakant Rawte(Screams): Payal... andar aao...
Arjun and Payal look at him.
Arjun: jao Payal... (and he turns and leaves)
Payal(crying and screaming) : Dada... dada... dada ...
Flashback ends *
Payal (screams): DADA!!!!!
And her cell rings. She looks at the cell. Some unknown number calling. She wipes her tears and receives the call.
Payal: Hello!!!

Awesome episodeVery poignant. As always Sameer is the rock of Arjun.Where he can always lean on to escape the blows life deals him for a few moment at least. I loved how Sameer without being too intrusive into Arjun's personal life made him remember how much his sister needs him.Very well written linesThen the flashbacks were sweet. How they help us cope thru the worst of life na? These memories!I am happy Payal is realising that her wayward ways will only break her brother's heart.All is not lost!I know Mr Suryakant comes across as selfish and uncaring but here i would like to say something in his defence. Its true that children must be allowed to choose their own path but by forcing Arjun to stay back and mind the family business I see a protectionist attitude in Mr Rawte.Is this system kind and honest enough to give back to the individual for all that he has sacrificed for it? Would all of us gladly give up our children for the system to gobble up and chew and to spit out?Arjun must have been raised like a prince and now he wants to work as a sentry for the rest of his life.A little heartbreak toh hoga as a parent.Secondly in his eyes a super talented man like Arjun could do more by expanding the business.But of course he should have put his points across more maturely and give in gracefully.Waiting for the Bharat Milaap
