Chapter 28
[NOCOPY]Hellooow Lovelies,
I loved writing this chapter.
I think SaiRat, LunRat and Didi's beizzati moments are so inspiring for me.
I think the Maharashtrian version of Karwa Chauth is called Vat Purnima but honestly I have no idea how it is celebrated so I wrote the version I have always seen on ITV which is Karwa Chauth. That also perfectly fits with LunRat and somehow SaiRat too. The show itself doesn't follow the Marathi celebrations so I, who am not even Indian, can cheat also.
I loved writing the last part of Sunny and Virat. Anyway, no more spoiler.
Thank you for the lovely comments.
The Chavan ladies and Pakhi were preparing for Karwa Chauth. A day before, during breakfast when they were talking about the fast, Virat requested Sai not to bother about it. He reminded her that empty stomach gives her headache and makes her sick. No need to fall sick for him, the man she doesn't even consider her husband. The request turned into an order when the entire family started to emotionally blackmail her and she was even ready to accept it.
« You won't observe the fast and that's my final decision. », he ordered her and made sure everyone understood.
Sai thought about it and she genuinely wanted to fast not only because of her duty as a wife but also because she wanted his safety and longevity. She let it know to Ashwini who accepted to help her secretly. The next day, Virat was called on duty earlier than usual and left without having breakfast. Sai was happy as he wouldn't be there to force her to eat.
Luna came to Chavan Niwas to see the Karwa Chauth rituals. As she didn't resume work due to her injuries, she wanted to use that free time to learn new things and spend some time with her friend on his special day.
Virat came out from the washroom after changing his uniform in a nice white kurta. He saw Sai near the dressing table in her red saree. He walked to the bed, sat down and shamelessly gazed at her in the mirror. Confused and awkward, she looked at him questioningly in the mirror. He made the «Perfect» sign to tell her that she was looking beautiful. She blushed and rushed outside. Every single time his jungli Billi acted shy, his heart fluttered.
Luna and Samrat went to the balcony. They were enjoying the fresh weather and making fun of each other. They ended up talking about the party her father had thrown a few days ago. He didn't like the way she taunted him when he was genuinely happy to have his daughter back.
« Oh please, he didn't throw that party because I am alive. He did because he wanted to show off in front of the society and his army comrades. », she said rolling her eyes.
« I have seen him how worried he was for you. », he let her know.
« Because I am still his daughter. No need to see things where there isn't. », she said.
« I really hope one day you will stop hating on him. », he said.
« Can we talk about something else ? », she asked annoyed.
« Haan, tu bohut khubsurat lag rahi hai yeh Indian style mein. Kyun nahin pehenti aise kapde ? », he replied immediately looking at her red lehenga.
« Ishhhhhh !!! », she put her dupatta in front of her to hide her face and acted shy.
« Ab nautanki maat kar. Tu aur shy ? », he asked.
« Wooow, dekh chand. », she said excitedly after spotting the moon.
Still the dupatta in front of her face, she turned her head to see him and they shared an eyelock through the net dupatta.
« Aayi thi na Karwa Chauth ke baare mein sikhne ? Tera toh Karwa Chauth hi ho gaya hai. », he joked while both were still looking through the dupatta.
She shook her head with a smile, « I am a Christian, OK. I don't believe in all this. I haven't fasted either. Meri jaisi biwi mil gayi toh tu maar hi jaayega. », she chuckled.
« Kamini. », he slapped her shoulder.
« Ouch ! », she pouted.
« God tussi great ho. Thank you for saving my life. », he looked up.
She also slapped his shoulder in return, the same which was injured during the rescue mission. Both burst out laughing and stared into each other's eyes. She turned her head and saw the entire Chavan family at the entrance who were all shocked after witnessing their scene. Samrat turned his head too when her smile disappeared and she removed the dupatta. The Chavans walked inside and Pakhi walked towards him. Fumingly, she grasped Luna's hand and dragged her away.
« Patralekha, leave her hand. », Samrat ordered her by trying to stop her.
As Pakhi didn't want to listen to him, Luna jerked her hand away and grabbed Pakhi's hand. She turned her around and twisted her hand.
« Mujhse badtameezi karne ki koshish toh karna hi maat. », she turned Pakhi around again to face her but still holding her hand tight. « Because if I speak in your narrow minded language then I am definitely older than you, much more educated than you, come from a higher society than you, belong to a richer family than yours. And if I speak in my language then I am your husband's best friend so you owe me respect, girl. You got that ? », she added furious.
Luna relieved Pakhi's hand. Everyone was shocked while Pakhi rubbed her bruised hand caused by her kangan when Luna gripped her hand. Samrat's eyes fell on Luna's bleeding hand. When Pakhi tried to drag her out, one of her bangles broke slightly slitting her hand.
« Moon your hand. », Samrat lifted her hand to have a look.
« This is the reason I lost my calm, I am sorry. If she didn't like something, she should have talked to me in a civilized manner not like this. », Luna explained.
« It's OK, Moon. », he reassured her and then moved his head towards Pakhi, « Have you lost it, Patralekha ? »
« I have lost it ? You have lost it, Samrat. This is what you call giving us a chance ? », Pakhi asked angrily.
« CHUUUUP ! », Samrat yelled leaving her puzzled.
« What is she talking about, Sam ? », Luna asked.
« Nothing yaar. Don't pay attention to her nonsense. I am going to get the first aid box. », Samrat replied.
He went to get the first aid box, leaving a perplexed Luna and confused Chavans. Sai walked up to Luna and checked the cut. Samrat came back rushing and opened the box. He took out an ointment, gave it to Pakhi and asked her to apply it on her hand. He came back to Luna and asked everyone to start the rituals before starting to treat her hand. The couples were ready. Ashwini asked Sai and Virat to join them.
Virat looked questioningly at Sai, « You never fail to do the exact opposite of what I tell you to do. I asked you not to fast. »
« Virat Dada, you asked Sai Bhabhi not to fast but you are yourself fasting. », Karishma blurted out the truth then stammered seeing Virat looking daggers at her, « I.... I... mean... I...heard... yo... your... co... conversation... with... Sunny Bhaiya. »
« What nonsense ! », Virat denied her claim.
« Dada don't lie now. Even I have heard your conversation. », Mohit confirmed teasingly.
« That... it's not like that... I... I didn't have time to eat the entire day... so Sunny was only making fun of me... that... it can be counted as fasting. », It was Virat's turn to stammer. « Why would I fast ? », he added to hide his lie.
Ashwini and Mohit looked at each other and burst out laughing. They knew Virat was very much capable of fasting for his wife. Virat wasn't aware of his love for Sai but they knew how deeply he was in love with her. Karishma followed them and chuckled. The rest of the Chavans shook their heads, tired of the drama and Virat's love for Sai. Pakhi fumed that the man she loved was fasting for his wife and the man she married was worried more for his best friend than her. She let her tears stream down her face. Samrat couldn't understand his brother. If he was in love with Pakhi then why did he never fail to be the perfect husband every girl would dream of ?
« That's unfair, Virat Sir. You get worried about my health but you don't take care of your own health. », Sai said innocently without understanding that Virat lied.
Mohit and Ashwini facepalmed seeing Sai's naivety. Samrat and Luna smiled finding both of them adorable in their own way.
« Khandoba, since the three daughter-in-laws have stepped in the house, drama never ends. They even turned their husbands just like them. », Bhavani Kaku rolled her eyes.
The wives viewed the moon through their sieves then their husbands. Sai blushed after Virat gazed at her intently with a smirk. Suddenly she felt the vibes of a wife electrifying her entire body. They offered water and sweets to the moon. Then the husbands broke their wives' fast by offering them water and sweets. Sai also offered the same to Virat as he too didn't eat the entire day. He was happy that she broke his fast even though she didn't understand he was fasting for her. Samrat didn't let Pakhi follow the rituals and made her drink the water and fed her the sweets.
The women of the house got busy in setting the table for dinner. Ashwini went up to call her son downstairs. Luna wanted to leave but Samrat stopped her.
« If you leave without having dinner with us then I won't eat either. », he threatened her.
« That's not fair. You always blackmail this emotional fool. », she said frowning her eyebrows.
« Tu ? Aur emotional fool ? Emotional fool toh mujhe karti hai aur tere liye mein bakra ban bhi jaata hoon. », he replied.
« Huh ? », she widened her eyes, puzzled.
Sai chuckled from behind startling them, « You both are so cute. Capable of making Dada bakra that's something huge. »
« I don't have to. Bakra pehle se hi hai. Hashtag forever bakra. », Luna joked.
« Ha ha ha ha ha. », he faked laughing making a face. « Dawat-e-Bakra pe aapka swagat hai, ma'am. », he added.
Both the girls laughed. Luna followed Samrat to the dinner table and Sai went to her room to call Virat for diner where Ashwini was having a conversation with her son.
« Just think about it, why would you observe a fast for Sai when it's a wife's thing ? That too when you yourself asked her not to fast for you. There must be a reason. », Ashwini tried to make him understand that he was in love with his wife.
« What reason ?. », he asked not understanding what she meant.
« Buddhu. You are falling for her. You are in love with Sai. », she said straightforward.
« Kuch bhi Aayi. », he was dumbfounded by her statement.
« You have. », she teased him.
« I didn't even fast for anyone, OK ? I was just busy the entire day. », he lied.
« Don't think I am a fool. I know you have fasted for Sai. You can fool her but me. », she said.
Sai entered the room just when Ashwini said those last lines. Sai requested them to come fast as everyone was already around the table. Ashwini and Virat looked at each other, relieved that she didn't hear their conversation.
After dinner, Luna said goodbye to everyone and left. Samrat accompanied her to the car. Mohit and Virat went to the balcony to spend some time between brothers.
« Samrat Dada and Luna Di share a strong bond. Do you think it's just friendship ? », Mohit asked.
Virat looked puzzled, « Why should there be something else ? If he is saying it's only friendship then it's only friendship. We shouldn't be even discussing that. »
Samrat who heard the conversation joined them, « Thanks Virat for not judging me. »
« No need to thank me. Meri soch itni bhi backdated nahin hai. », Virat replied coldly.
Samrat was about to say something but Virat's phone rang. He excused himself by telling them it was an important call.
He walked through the door of his room while typing a message to Sunny. He didn't see Sai's book that was lying on the floor which made him trip and fall on her. His lips quickly brushed hers. Awkward, they looked intently at each other and gulped synchronously. Nervously he got up.
« Your books will kill me one day. », he said.
« Virat Sir, if I ask you something would you answer me ? », she asked getting up to face him.
« That's a trick. », he replied.
« Boliye na », she pouted.
« Haan bolo. », he nodded.
« Did you fast for me ? », she asked straightforward.
« Pfff bakwaas maat karo. », he rolled his eyes.
« Why ? », she asked going closer to him while he took a step back. « I am not a kid, I know you did fast for me and I even heard your conversation with Aayi. », she added.
« OK fine, I did. », he blurted out the truth. « I knew you wouldn't listen to me and fast for me so I didn't want you to endure so much alone. If you can fast for my well being then I can fast for your bright future. », he added.
« I will never understand you, Virat Sir. », she said.
« Neither will I. », he replied.
Sai smiled. He looked at his phone. Sunny's name appeared. He went out and she blushed. That man was crazy and she knew it. Virat went to the balcony hoping no one would be there. Once alone, he picked up the phone and shouted at his friend.
« Saale tu mujhe maarwayega ek din. », Virat said.
« Woh kaise ? », Sunny asked amused.
« Your nonsense about the fast reached every ear of the house even Sai's. », Virat explained.
Sunny chuckled, « Achcha hai na sabko pata chal gaya tujhe pyaar ho gaya hai. »
« Bakwaas band kar. Pyaar kyun hoga ? », Virat asked annoyed.
« Bachchu pyaar toh ho gaya hai tu maane yah na maane nahin toh tu vrat kyun rakhta ? », Sunny teased him.
« You and Aayi have given the words, right ? Because she said the exact same thing. », Virat said.
« Love is in the air my friend either you accept it or not. », Sunny replied.

PS: I don't know why I have a thing about the clichés happening with the opposite gender.
For example in shows we see the girls falling on the boys but I like when it's the guy who trips and falls on the girl. Or a rain confession that happens not from the boy's side but the girl's side.
Or something the boy has a habit to do but the girl ends up doing and the guy gets impressed.
I don't know I guess I am weird.
