Sai found a happy Ashwini in the kitchen preparing her son's favorite sweet dishes. Sai asked the reason of her happiness and why so many sweets were cooked. Ashwini informed her that the next day was Virat's birthday. Sai just uttered an « Oh » in surprise and started preparing the breakfast. When the entire family was around the table, Virat noticed his wife was absent minded. He didn't know that he was the reason of her being pensive. She wanted to surprise him but didn't know how.

After college she went to buy a gift and other things to make his birthday special. After dinner she took the opportunity of his late night duty to quickly bake a chocolate cake and decorate the balcony with balloons, lighting and flowers. He came back around midnight and didn't find her in the room. He shook his head knowing that she was busy studying on the balcony. He went to change his uniform and freshened up. When he came back she was still not in the room. He noticed a note on the bed. « Join me to the balcony, Virat Sir. », it was written. Perplexed Virat decided to do what he was told and once he joined her the place was dark. He still stepped in and suddenly he saw Sai's face lit by the candles of the cake she was holding.

« Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you Virat Sir, happy birthday to you. », she sang.

She put the cake on the table and lit the place by switching on the decoration lights. He looked around and was shocked that she decorated the place so nicely for his birthday. She signed him to come to the coffee table. He approached her and both sat down on the floor. He read « Happy Birthday Virat Sir », on the cake. Decorated with a chocolate ganache and topped with fluffy chocolate buttercream rosettes, the cake looked delicious.

« Sorry it doesn't look that good but I tried my best. », she said.
« Are you kidding me ? This looks so yummy and beautiful. », he replied.
« Come on blow the candles out but don't forget to wish something before. », she said.

He closed his eyes and wished for such birthday surprises for the rest of his life. He then was about to cut the came but she stopped him and told him that he has to eat first. There was a tray full of food on the table. She fed him with her own hand.

« Bas... leave some place for the cake too. », he said.

Sai laughed at him for his desperation to eat the cake. He finally cut it and fed her first before tasting it himself.

« I have a birthday present for you. », she told him getting it from behind the sofa.
« Bappa, what have you done to my Sai Joshi ? Since when is she so nice to me ? », he looked up.
« Hooo !!! How much drama you do ! There are so many times I was nice to you. », she said naively without realizing that she indirectly admitted to be a grumpy person.
Amused by her innocence he couldn't stop smiling, « Only once or twice otherwise you have always fought with me from the first day of our meeting. Rememeber how angrily you welcomed me with the flower garland ? »

She recalled that special moment in her head and smiled then composed herself while he observed with love all her changed expressions.

« Haan toh you deserved it. I had so many reasons to dislike you. », she said.
« How can you even have a reason to dislike someone you just met ? », he asked.
« Unbelievable ! You were the one splashing mud on me with your car and then had the audacity to laugh at me. Just imagine the shock to see such an ill-mannered person as an IPS officer. Then you also requested Aaba to postpone his retirement. I swear I was this close from murdering you. », she explained everything showing with her fingers how close he was from being hit my her.

He bit his lip to control his laughter and at the same time looked at her lovingly. She looked so adorable the way she explained the whole thing. He was amused by her but then got confused about the mud incident. When did this happen ?

« When did I splash mud on you ? », he asked raising his eyebrow.
« Hoooo Virat Sir kuch toh sharam kijiye. Some time before the ceremony. And after that you were laughing too. », she said shocked by his ignorance.
He finally remembered being in the car, « Sai I was on a call. I was laughing for something else not to mock you. »

She squinted her eyes and pouted. He gazed at her and thought, « A whole population of the village and my car chose you to be insolent with. Oh Sai Joshi, God was hell bent on uniting us. ». She snapped her fingers at him and asked him to open the gift. He finally unwrapped the box and found a wallet inside with his initials « VC » engraved on it. He checked the wallet and found a ten rupees note inside in which she had written « Good Luck ».

« Aaba always said not to gift an empty purse or wallet. You should always include some money to ensure good luck. So use that ten rupees wisely, Mr. Virat Chavan. », she said.
« That's so beautiful. Thank you Sai. This gift, this cake, this night, it means so much to me. », he expressed gratitude to her.
« I wanted to organize this long time ago but it never happened. », she said.
« Oh I see you are trying to be extra sweet for torturing your husband for weeks. Not bad. », he teased her.
« If you are going to make fun of me every time I do something nice then I won't do anything in the future. », she pouted.
« Ok baba sorry. », he apologized.

He cut another piece of the cake and put a huge spoon inside his mouth. She watched him eat her hand made cake so deliciously and went back to the past. She chuckled remembering how she thought Usha Maushi was into Virat.

« Now what's making you laugh ? », he asked still eating the cake.
« You will laugh at me so I won't tell you. », she said.
« I won't. », he replied.
« When Usha Maushi saw you for the first time she thought you were an interesting eligible bachelor. So I told her that you were a little too young for her. », Sai chuckled again and then added, « Maushi then told me that she wasn't interested in you for herself but me. »
« Aise jhatke maat diya karo Sai. », he said horrified by the idea of Usha Maushi eyeing him up.

He then smiled. Usha Maushi was eyeing him up not for herself but for Sai. The entire universe wanted to unite them. He then moved next to her and asked her how she was doing. He got his old Sai back but he feared that she was hiding her emotions. She went through a lot this whole year. Her Aaba died, she got married to someone she didn't want, she had to adjust with his family and then she got betrayed by the only friend she ever had.

« We are not going to talk about me today but you. It's your birthday after all. », she said.

She excitedly asked him to tell her about his childhood memories. They talked for a while and fell asleep.

The next morning, the Chavans gathered in the living room. Like every year, they wanted to wake Virat up with birthday wishes. When they all reached the room, the door was open and no one was inside. Pakhi joined them too and wondered what the entire family was doing in Virat's room. Mohit told them that Virat and Sai were probably on the balcony as it was their favorite place. They walked out and Pakhi followed them. Once they were on the balcony, they all were surprised. The place was so nicely decorated and half of the cake and the food tray was still there. Most importantly Virat was asleep sitting on the floor, leaned against the patio sofa. Sai was sitting next to him resting her head on his chest while his arm wrapped her body tightly against him. Some of them found them cute, some were embarrassed and some fumed. Pakhi kind of froze seeing them so romantically involved.

« Dadho Sutho, it seems like this year the family is late in wishing Virat Dada a happy birthday. », Karishma said.
« That's what happens when you get married. Wife makes sure she is the first one to wish her better half in a very special way and Sai hasn't disappointed him. », Samrat said looking at the organization around him.

Karishma and Samrat's words pierced Pakhi's heart. She didn't even know it was Virat's birthday while Sai had created an entire atmosphere to celebrate his special day. She made such an impression on him that she ended up landing on his chest. Everyone's talk woke Virat and Sai up. They gazed at each other for some time then separated from the embrace realizing the closeness and that they were surrounded by the family. Sai wanted to stand up but her mangalsutra got stuck in his kurta's button and she landed back on his chest. Seeing her cheeks becoming red he helped her to untangle the mangalsutra and freed her from him.

« Maast ha maast, why don't you both romance in your room. Yahan kya tamasha laga rakha hai ? This Jungli Mulgi has no shame. », Kaku said angrily.
« Kaku she just made my birthday special and then we fell asleep. Why are you overreacting ? », Virat asked.
« Virat did this girl make you forget your manners ? », Ninad snarled at his son.
« Can you all stop arguing with my son. It's his birthday for god's sake. », Ashwini requested.

She wished her son a very happy birthday and hugged him. The other elders followed her while Mohit and Samrat were busy tasting the cake. Ashwini pulled each one of their ears.

« Ahhh ahhh ahhh Ashwini Kaku, dard ho raha hai ? », Mohit said.
« Ashwini Mamiiiiiiii please leave my ear. », Samrat said.
« You shouldn't eat someone else's cake you food junkies. », Ashwini dragged them out of the balcony by pulling their ears.

Everyone left the place one by one. Sai and Virat looked at each other and burst out laughing.

« Sai I have to go to Bhandara for work and I was thinking if you would like to come with me. », he asked.
« What will I do in Bhandara and I have college too. », she said.
« I know but it would make me happy if you could come with me. It's my birthday and I wanted to spend the day with you. », he admitted.
She opened her eyes wide open in suprise, « With me ? But why ? Why not with the family ? »
« You ask a lot of question, Sai. I can't take the entire family to Bhandara but I can take you there. », he said.
« Fine. Only because it's your birthday. », she replied.

After they left without informing that they were going together, Kaku gave Pakhi the responsibility of organizing a party for Virat's birthday and asked Karishma to help her. Uncomfortable she looked at Samrat who encouraged her with a taunting tone. A bhabhi should organize her devaar's birthday party in grandiose.

It took a few hours for Virat to finish his work then he was free for the entire evening. He first took his wife for a late lunch then they went to explore the city. They enjoyed the beauty of the nature and had a boat ride in one of the lakes. He found her adorable while she was playing with the water but then she splashed it on him. His hand itched to take revenge and a water fight started between them making the boat pitch. She clung to him in fear.

« I feel like Miss Jhansi ki Rani is scared. », he made fun of her.
« No I am not scared. », she replied moving away from him.

He jumped and the boat rolled from side to side making her cling back to him. He laughed at her and she sulked telling him to stop laughing.

After disembarking she was craving for pani puri. They went to the nearest chaat stall and he watched her gulp down one after another a dozen of pani puris while he could eat only three.
After spending a nice day together, away from the Chavans and the daily life, it was time to leave but his car wasn't ready to cooperate. The car mechanic informed him that the car can't be fixed before the next day. They had no other option than book a hotel room for the night.
