Meghna was searching for the design she had made a few days ago but she could not reminisce where she had kept it.

Nilakshi came into her room, She tried an effort to help Meghna.”Megh tried to recall where you have kept that book, I told you before it was vital for our next project, you never forget things like this before Megh “Nilakshi complaint 

“Na Boudi, Actually I was going to keep it on along with other documents but that day I ..she couldn't finish off her sentence when a few files mistakenly dropped from her hand,  Meghna bend down, she started to rearrange  the documents 

“I will help you,” Nilakshi said, she smiled at her  

While arranging the files, Nilakshi got an album with a few photographs that slightly came out. Nilakshi observed those old photographs. '"Megh  are they your old friends, I mean, is it when you are in your school?”

Meghna remained silent, she got up from there Nilakshi was looking at photos with a smile on her face she brought the album to Meghna and showed her the pictures “Looked at this you are so cute Megh  and this one is it your friends,

She turned out the page, there was a photo at which Meghna was with a girl, encircling their hands, “both of you were looking so adorable, cute and innocent “Nilakshi praised by looking at the picture” Meghna who is this, you never tell me anything about your school friends? Is she your best friend ?”Asked Nilakshi

Meghna looked at Nilakshi who raised her face and looked back at Meghna “what happened Megh, is anything wrong ?”

Flashback,14 years ago, Kolkata

IX-SECTION-C

It was a time before the start of the first period, some of the students were discussing their previous day's homework, some were talking about their favorite tv shows to latest movies of Bollywood, Hollywood actor actress, some were gossiping about their teachers at school and many more.

“Excuse me ” someone called Meghna. She turned around to see the girl. Meghna looked at that girl who was looking extremely beautiful, so much that no one could ever get tired of looking at her. 

“Yes “ Meghna replied politely 

“Is this seat reserved ?” the girl asked with her sweet voice 

“Yai meri baab ki kharidi hui zaidad hai kya, jo reserved hogi” Meghna replied  jokingly 

The girl stared at her and  smirked “So can I seat here “she asked once again

“Yeah, of course, if you wanna sit here you can” Meghna replied without any hesitation resting her both hands on the desk

The girl sat there beside Meghna, who looked at the girl when she asked her“ Thank you. What’s your name?”[politely ]

Meghna replied “Meghna Roy, yours?”

“Sanyogita Agarwal, you are a Bengali  ?”

“Yes, you are a marwaadi ?“

“Yes”

“Are you new at this school, because I have never seen you here before!”

Sanyogita said “yes, I have taken admission here just 2 weeks ago “

“Oh yeah, where have you been before ?”

“St.Loreto convent “

“But why have you changed your school?”

“coz St. Loreto Convent was far away  from my home, it was very difficult for me to manage my schedules for tuition classes”

“Okay, I got it”

“Have you been in this school since your childhood ?”

“Yes, “

“Wow, you are very lucky “Sanyogita exclaimed with a gentle smile on her lips

“Why are you thinking so?”

“Because you don't need to left your school friends,” she said with a half-smile on her face

“No actually not like that, I have not that much lucky”

Sanyogita looked up at her “why ?”

“I mean my all friends remained in the Section-A, up to previous class we all were in the same section but in the class, nine teachers separated me from them” she complains dejectedly 

“Don't worry, can we become  friends?” Sanyogita extends her hand towards Meghna, with glistening eyes

Meghna also did the same, they shook hands. Meanwhile, the bell of the first period rang out, and the teacher had entered the class. It was maths period, Mr. Nageshwar Sen, one of the most strict teachers of the school, had entered the class. He was wearing spectacles, he always wore the same color white shirt and a black pant according to the student he was a black and white movie of 1960. He was perhaps in his late forties, tall and broad-shouldered with excessive flesh on his belly and chin.

Students stood up and greeted him

"Sit down"

"So today at first I will go through the portion which I had taught you in last class" '' said Mr. Sen, He started to choose students randomly to solve the questions written on the board and He asked a student to solve the given problem 

“Sir I was absent on the previous day”

“Oh ho, when you are not absent in class,” he said sarcastically 

He stood up another student to open his copy and show it to him “Why didn't you do your homework? he shouted at the bottom

“Sir I forgot “the boy answer by bending the head down

“Why you people never forget to eat, not forget to sleep, never forget about your favorite cartoon series but whenever it’s about homework you forget them easily “Mr. Sen scolded the boy,” caught your ears with hands”

“This Nageswar Sir is more like the head of the department of the Naglok, He seemed to act like a Nagraj, if any students had not done his /her homework he would bite on their butt. We are more afraid of him than our maths book “Meghna whispered in disgust, 

Hearing the comments of Meghna, Sanyogita laughed silently, putting her hands on her mouth.

“Shhh! Sanyogita rolled her eyes and warn Meghna 

Suddenly Mr. Sen’s eyes fell on a girl who was talking on the last bench"Hey, you stand up” why are you talking???

Sanyogita was frightened. Mr. Sen commands her '” Hey you stand up, come here" Why are you talking ?”He gave a very difficult maths problem on the board and told Sanyogita to solve it

Sanyogita took the chalk from the table and at first, she read the question carefully. Mr.Sen Told everyone that ''I knew it nobody could solve this problem because whenever I gave this problem in my other class nobody could be solved it was a very tough question. I know, You had solved your problem with your private tutor, but you couldn't solve it because this question wasn't given in your textbook. You thought yourself smart but I would try to be smarter than you” He declared looking in front of the class

Mr Sen, when turned back, saw the girl had solved the problem correctly

Excellent! Said, Mr. Sen 

Everyone was shocked, including Meghna who was glancing at Sanyogita with a gap in her mouth, because it was the first in her life she heard the word excellent come out from her Nagraj Sir.

“How could you solve this problem,” Asked Mr. Sen. Sanyogita deciphers that to him

“Well done” You're very intelligent “what's your name?

Sanyogita Agarwal

“Okay now go to your seat,

Sanyogita gently nodded her head “Okay Sir”

After the end of the class “wow Sanyogita, you are so intelligent “Meghna praised her by glaring at Sanyogita 

“Not like that it was easy, you can also do that “

“No how many times I have tried but I can't solve maths“

“Don't worry Meghna Let me explain it to you’’Sanyogita explain the concept to Meghna “Yes yar you are right it was easy “

“Yes, of course, I told you “she smiled.

Many days passed, Sanyogita became famous among the students in her class day by day, everybody started to admire her, teachers of her class also praised her performance, her polite behavior. Students discussed that she was not only insanely beautiful but also had a brain, she was also very smart. Meghna gradually realized Sanyogita loved to flaunt her looks like most teenage girls and didn't mind a few stares. It was her inner beauty and kindness that made her even more desirable.

“You should seat on the first bench which deserved for you” Meghna suggested 

Sanyogita simply smile and said” I liked to sit with you Megh” more the days passed Sanyogita and Meghna become very close to each other, from their first day of encounter they not only seat with each other but also share their launched, from that day Meghna and Sanyogita both stared to reserved each other seats at class. 

“It’s doesn't matter at all, whether we sit on the first or last or anywhere else, all is matter whether we focussed or not if we are determined and believe in yourself, if we dedicated to our work, then nobody can distract us to reach for our goals”

Meghna glare at her, she observed Sanyogita and thought her word “Do you know, I have a friend who also tells me the same thing all time whenever I asked him about this”

“Who is he “Sanyogita asked 

“He is Debu, I mean Dharam, Debu was his nickname, actually I called him by that name since childhood. Meghna said this with enthusiasm in her voice, a twinkle appeared in her eyes.

Sanyogita was listening to Meghna’s bak carefully,” Do you know Sanyo Dharam is the topper of our school, he is very very intelligent, he one of the closest friend of mine”

“Okay it’s nice, you have a good friend who is very close to you,” Sanyogita said[ she was looking a little bit sad]

“What happened Sanyo? did I said anything wrong?’’

“No Megh, you are so lucky you have your close friend still now, but I have not anyone !”

Meghna was feeling ache, she thinks something good to lighten up her mode” Don’t worry I can be your close friend if want “

“Really “

“Why not’’

Sanyogita gave Meghna a vanilla smile “Megh do you know you are my one of the good friend who makes me feel happy with your childish nature “

Meghna looked back at Sanyogita and said“Sanyo Can I ask you something?”

“Hm...What ?”

“Why are you so nice to me?”Meghna asked this question to Sanyogita while they were sitting in the class alone, as it was early morning and nobody had come yet, as she wanted some privacy to ask her the question from the very beginning.

“What do you mean?”Sanyogita asked Meghna in confusion

“No, I am just curious “Meghna whispered 

“Do I need a reason for being nice to my friend “Sanyogita replied

Meghna smiled, and Sanyogita smiled back at her too. “Sanyo you become popular among the students day by day, you are so beautiful, intelligent, you can get any better friend than me, why have you been struck with such a dumb like me?”

“Who said that you are dumb,”

Magna gazed at her. Sanyogita did not stop she continued “you are much much better than them because you are real, you are not dumb you are smart, even you are smarter than me and you are so pretty like a cute doll and “hmm..if I had to give a reason..” she thought for sometime … “I just like you, I just like you the way you are ”Sanyogita’s eyes getting moistened 

“  Sanyo, you made me feel my importance and you know what  I like about your company from the beginning. In my new section, I had only a few friends and in this class, so many people mocked me every day because of my weight. But you never told me and never commented about my weight. During recess, I was hardly able to meet Dharam who was always busy in his studies. So I felt lonely but being in your company was like being warmed by the sun’s rays, regardless of the weather.

“You are not fat, you are just a cute chubby, you have a beautiful heart and an innocent soul. Megh, you are the closest friend I have ever have ” Sanyogita confessed” Do you know you are my sweet cute teddy bear,”  she embraces her 

“And you know you are my best friends,” Megha said

Both the girls became emotional, they hugged each other, they broke the hug after a while. Students started to enter the class

It was lunch break,

Both Sanyogita and Meghna was sitting in their class and eating their lunch “Sanyogita, Nagraj Sir had already told you to seat in front of him, Will you sure enough to sit there “

“I will but you will also have to sit with me”

“But I can't Sanyo, I'm afraid of him, If Nagraj Sir will get angry at me and raise the hood too big then all the nags will come out and if they bite me all of a sudden then what will I do?”Meghna asked childishly 

“Stop kidding Megh. Don't think much about it, the Main hoon na okay” Sanyogita said by touching her shoulder one then lifting it into the air gently

“Okay I will, my Jay”

“Okay my,veeru ”both the girls giggled, both the girls raising their hand for a high-five.

“Sanyo can you come to my home with me today to help me with the topic of physics? Meghna requested 

“You mean group study “Sanyogita replied heartily

Meghna node her head simply 

“Okay I will come”

Both the girls reached into the apartment where Meghna had lived. The watchman opened the gate. It was a large area with so many residential buildings surrounded by a concrete wall. The paved path leading from the gate continues long and straight across a broad large, the five-story buildings present serially. There were large windows with a balcony that contained varieties of flowers on a treetop. Cars, scooters, bikes were parked in the parking slot zone. In the middle of it, there was a playground where, two sitting areas made of cement on which aged people sat, they were talking with each other, a small garden, a local community hall of the complex. Sanyogita saw children giggling, some were wandering here and there- lightheartedly. They entered the building at which Meghna lived. Meghna along with Sanyogita arrive on the 3rd floor. Meghna pressed the calling bell of their flat, a middle heightened lady came and opened the door. She was Meghna’s mother. Her hair was braided behind her head, she wore some gold ornaments, with a red bindi on her forehead, sankha polla on her both hands along with some gold bangles. She had a round healthy figure.

Meghna introduced her mother to Sanyogita “Maa eta Sanyogita, ami bolechilam na tomai [Maa , this is Sanyogita I have told you about her]Meghna said in Bengali ascent.

Sanyogita greeted Meghna’s mother” Namaste Aunty “by clasping her both hands “how are you  ?”

“I am fine beta, how are you?

“I am also good Aunty “

“now come, taratari mukh haat pa dhuye nao, ami tomader khete debo”[wash your hands and feet quickly and I will feed you]

Meghna told her mother that Sanyogita came there to help her in her study and they will start their group study after taking their meals. After they had food both the girls picked up their bags which they had kept on the sofa of the dining hall. Sanyogita entered Meghna's room “Wow, Meghu your room is so beautiful, adjacent to the bed there was a wooden study table  where she found “Wow Meghu this is Harry Potter and the half-blood prince and you have a collection of HP series, “Sanyogita said excitedly 

“Yeah, I just loved to read the Harry Potter series”

“I loved too, I have also his all books collections, even you know I have collected so many photos of him from the newspapers and kept them in my room” Sanyogita smile while saying this 

“Yey, hurrah! we have so many things which are common between us 'Meghna clapped her hand against Sanyoita, both the girl giggles

Sanyogita’s eyes fell on a drawing book which was kept above the study table. She opened the book “Its amazing Meghu, you are so talented, is this drawing made by you? these sketches are so lovely “

“Thanks, darling”

“Oh my gosh !” there was a sketch of Hrittik Roshan, Sanyogita gazed at the sketch admiringly 

“You know Sanyo I have a poster of him just come with me I will show it to you”

Meghna opened her wardrobe door, there was a poster of Hrithik Roshan with his six-pack abs, in his hot avatar 

“You know, the first thing I do when I wake up every morning kisses my Hritik”

Sanyogita was looking at the poster lovingly 

“Hey don’t look at him like that way, he will be my future husband,” Meghna said childishly 

“Shut up! We can’t both marry the same guy” Sanyogita said and moved ahead to the poster and plant a kiss on his cheek “I also like him”

“Na, na, I can't share my Hrithik with anyone “Meghna nodded her head negatively on  either side

Sanyogita narrow her eyes and puffed out her cheeks

Meghna grinned at her gesture, she moved closed to Sanyo who turned her face in the opposite direction, keep her hand on her shoulder, and said “okay I have an Idea “

Sanyogita looked at her “What sort of idea?”She asked softly

“Okay, let’s do one thing. You keep him during the day and I'll keep him during the night”

“How compatible”

They laughed and shared a high-five as they collapsed on the soft mattress together.

‘“We don't want any hero between us” Sanyogita Said

“Exactly. Anyway, I don't want to get married “Meghna elicit melancholy 

Sanyogita sat up “Why so ?”[Moving close to her, looking at her serious  face]

There was a momentary silence as Meghna stared at the window of her room.

“There was a no guy for a fat girl, in every movie hero always chose a beautiful figure heroine”

Sanyogita felt the agony in her voice, she held Meghna by both the shoulders, turning her face towards her “Megh, don't think about it, I have told you before you are so cute Meghu, You know what my Dad says to me always try to be a person who is beautiful from heart, nothing is more important than loyalty, And you have a good family, Aunty, uncles loves you so much you told me na, so why are thinking about other?’’Just look at me, I think one day you will get one of the best men in the world and he will not ask for your heart nor even mind, all he will want is your soul because heart might stop, the mind can be forgotten, but the soul never stops or forgets, the soul is eternal. Even If I was a boy I will propose to you my Veeru! Sanyogita said cupping both cheeks of Meghna

A pleasant smile appeared on Meghna’s face, she was grinning 

“Yes my Veeru I will do this “Sanyogita said

“Okay my Jay, then we will be together forever”

“Yes, yaisa kabhi hua hai Jay Veeru ke Bina Kabhi reh Paya hai” Sanyogita pinch on Meghna’s soft cheek

“But, Sanyo, at the end of the movie Jay made a fool of Veeru and fought with Gabbar Singh and died, Promise me you will never leave me! Meghna implored

“Arey, Budhu, why will I leave you? I promise to you we will always be together “

“Pinky Promise” Meghna asked 

Sanyogita extended her little finger and crossed it against Meghna’s .”Okay, Pinky promise!

Both hug each other, after a while they part, this time again Meghna made a serious face “What happened Megh? Sanyogita asked in confusion

Meghna kept both hands on her cheeks and she made a cute puppy face” Sanyo...I was thinking what will be your prince look like?”

Sanyogita glance at Meghna, shrugged “ I don't know”

“I know he will be a dumbo and he will always irritate you,” Meghna said, holding her hands on her mouth while laughingly 

Sanyogita gave her an annoyed expression 

“I am sorry Sanyo I was joking “Sanyo did not respond she was thinking something

“What happened Sanyo ?”

“I know a dumbo, no, no, worlds no. 1 idiot,” Sanyogita said in disgust in her voice

Meghna asked in confusion “who is that idiot ?”

“Not an idiot he was goo..no ..he was a localgunda, who irritated me a few days later after taking admission in school”

“Gunda..localgunda, what are you talking about, Sanyo can't catch your point?

“Did you have an idea that localgunda punctured my bicycle so cruelly !”

Meghna's round “Who is that Localgunda, just tells me Sanyo I will kill that devil, how dare he bother my best friend? I will kick him so hard he will cry for a week” Meghna yelled

“Calm down, Megh. I am good enough for him”

“By the way, who was that localgunda, Sanyo?’’

“I don’t know?

“What?? Meghna becomes puzzled

“I mean I just saw him at the end of the school one of the junior show him to me, but I don’t know the name, I was in a rushed to caught him that day but now I don't want to see him again, I just hate him”

“Ohh..but you will have to show him to me”

“Okay I will show him to you tomorrow, if possible “

“Hey Bhagobaan[Bhagwan] , tomorrow is a holiday, And also my birthday “Meghna bite her tongue, she kept her hand on her head

Sanyogita glared at her “kyaaa...Tera Kaal birthday hai aur tu, Mujhe Aaj bata Rahi hai?

“Sanyo I’m so sorry, Mein bhool gaye thi”

“Haan beri bholu raani”Sanyogita said sarcastically

Meghna gave her a puppy face

“It’s okay, now we have to go to study, all this happens for that localgunda “huhh” Sanyogita became afflicted 

“Okay, let’s start study”

“Hmm, otherwise I will be late for my home, Meghu.”

They started their group study, and Meghna's mother gave them two cups of chocolate Horlicks.

On that evening Dharam came with his mother to Meghna’s apartment, to give them some delicious sweet patishapta pitha which was made by Mrs. Barnali Chakrabarty [Dharam mother’s] as she knew well that Meghna loved the patty made in her hands.

Barnali loved to cook so whenever she made something delicious she always brought those to Roy's family. She was a soft, kind-hearted lady. Meghna treated her like her own mother, Barnali also affectionate Meghna like her own daughter. Dharma and Meghna’s family were very close from the beginning. Dharam's family lived in their bungalow which was 10 minutes away from Meghna’s residential locality.

“How are you Madhumita[Meghna’s mother]”

“I am absolutely fine Barnali Boudi”

“Where is my misti buri, I have made some delicious pitha for her and also for you all”

“Boudi, why are doing this ?”

“It’s okay,tumi toh janoi amake [Yo know me na],Dharam’s Mamaji have visited here today so I made this, and I know Meghna loved the sweets made by me”

“Okay, boudi, thank you. Let’s have a seat. Arey Dharam baba, why are you standing there, just come inside” Madhumita welcome Dharam 

Dharam obediently entered Meghna's flat, he sat on the sofa beside his mother. He remained calm while both the ladies were doing their women's talks.

“Dharam, babusona why are you so quiet?

“It’s okay Aunty. “Aunty where is Megh”

“Beta, she is in her room, she is studying with her friend. You can go inside to talk to her”

Dharam was thinking that Meghna was doing the study with her friend. She never told him about it.

“You are a Kutta, you came to my room without giving a knock on the door” Meghna got up from her chair and shouted at Dharam, keeping her both hands on her waist

“Hey, Megh, you have also done the same thing when you visited my house”

“That is in my favor, ho Mera Janam se hi adhikar hai Balak”

Dharam gave her an annoyed look, Meghna grinned

Dharam's eyes then fell on the girl. Meghna introduced Dharam with Sanyogita “Dharam she is my best friend, today we are doing group study .”

Dharam and Sanyogita just shared a hi, hello between them neither of them did speak anything.

Dharam asked Meghna why she didn't tell him regarding group study with her friend. Meghna who replied to him never had time for her, she asked him a lot of times but he did not respond,as if it was against his Shaan, now she got a friend with whom she can share everything about her happiness and agony. 

That night Dharam was in her room while sitting in front of his study table. He recalled the day -

Dharam heard the bell for a school assembly. He was the last person who came out from the boy’s toilet, he was in a hurry to reach the basketball court on either side of the campus. He watched a few students run towards the court. Dharam started to increase his speed but suddenly in a hurry, he dashed against a girl. He looked up at her and found she was extremely beautiful. It was damn embarrassing for him if his friend specifically Arjun caught him in that situation assuredly they would tease him. He tried his best to stay away from girls, because according to him as he was studious at that level, master of all, a popular boy who doesn't talk to girls much except Meghna. He had an image to maintain in school. But according to Meghna, he had a Gay image.

The girl was a little rude to start but when he asked her “are you okay ?”

“Yeah, I am alright “

Both of them stood up, the girl asked him to help her for section-c, class nine

“Are you a newcomer?

“yes”

Dharam did not speak further; he simply led the girl to her  class  . “thank you” the girl said politely 

He gave her a simple smile.

He saw the girl several times in the school, after that when he met the same girl in Meghna’s room he did not know what was running through inside his nerves, More he tried to concentrate, on his study Sanyogita’s face came in front him. Her black beautiful eyes, innocent face. 

He felt that he wanted to know more about her, when they shook hands there at Meghna's room Dharam felt goosebumps on his skin. Not knowing how to react, he stood there like a mannequin. On receiving no response from Dharam, Sanyogita was also silent.
