Day 2 : My First Gay Friend
My First Gay Friend
It was the first week of graduation. I came from a small town into a sprawling big city, known for its culture and diversity.
I was shy yet confident and ready to explore and learn.
I met my classmates and made new friends. One of them was Sam.
"Hi, I'm Sam!" He said with a cheeky smile. "I don't have many friends here."
I looked at him, thinking, was it because he is fat? That's not a reason to not befriend someone. "Well the year has just begun, you'll make friends. Even I just got to know a few people."
"I'm gay." He said solemnly
"So?" I blurted, not seeing the problem.
"Most people don't befriend me because of that.
I frowned, "But there's nothing wrong in being gay."
He smiled warmly, "Thank you! Not many people accept me for who I am."
"Most people are stupid, don't bother."
"True. Sometimes they say shit and it hurts."
"I'm sorry, I've never been in such a situation but it sounds terrible. But don't worry, you got me and if anyone says anything to you, I'll beat them up."
He looked at me and chuckled. I was a skinny, small girl who talked about fighting someone much larger than her.
"I can punch people where it hurts the most, don't try me."
"Okay, okay. Friends?"
"You got my back." I shook hands with him
That's how I made my first gay friend, long before I knew I was one myself.

Oh wow such a sweet one. Sam seems a gay friend everyone should have. Glad you accepted him for who he is. I love personal based stories, it always touches heart to read RL experiences. Kuddos
