'Do what you love and free yourself from the chains you put around yourself' is the theme of the movie.
The story revolves around a young boy Dilsher (Vicky Kaushal) from Gurudaspur whose father uesd to sing in Gurudwara. After the death of his father he loses his faith in music! From that point he runs from his past till he dicovers a new goal of his life,'to be like Guru Sikand'.
'Gurucharan Sikand', played by 'Manish Choudhari' who is also from Gurudaspur now an established business tycoon in Delhi. Dilsher after coming to Delhi somehow wins Guru Sikand's heart. Even for some reason Sikand starts favoring Dilsher over his own son 'Suriya'.
As the story goes Dilsher meets a gorgeous singer 'Amira' played by Sarah Jane Dias who befriends him and make him realise that his true destiny is in music and not to become like 'Guru Sikand'.
The second half of the film is more interesting with some twists in the story!
With 'Zubaan' Mozez Singh made his directorial debut. As a debutant the direction is worth a mention but still failed to connect to the audience. There was lack of a touch which should be there in a musical drama.
Song 'Kori Pukar' was a good one in the entire movie and it also features international choreographers/dancers 'Les Twins'.
Vicky Kaushal's Punjabi-Hindi dialogue delivery was an act worth watching. It is sure that he worked hard on his stammer and Punjabi diction. The actor effortlessly portrayed his character in a perfect manner.
Sarah Jane Dias added beauty to the film. Though she has less dialogues, the chemistry of 'Amira' and 'Dilsher' was worth watching.
What caught our eyes was the character of Raghav Chanana as Surya Sikand, Gurcharan's son, who is insecure and constantly seeking his father's acceptance, essayed his role brilliantly!
Overall rating: ** 1/2 [two and a half star]
