‘You’re disgusting, Akshay’, fans slam the actor as his old statement ‘I like heroines who are hari bhari, chusa hua aam na lagey’ goes Viral

Akshay Kumar's old statement, calling his female co-stars 'chusa hua aam' has gone viral on social media, which has sparked fury amongst netizens, who have slammed the actor for his sexist comments as claimed. Check out the Tweets below:

Khiladi Kumar, the flag bearer of films propagating a nationalistic spirit and women empowerment, Akshay Kumar, has landed himself in a controversy after his old statement from an earlier interview has gone viral on social media.

In a 2012 interview with a leading lady, Akshay Kumar was quoted saying, I like heroines who are hari bhari. Chusa hua aam na lagey! (They shouldn't look like sucked up mangoes)”, as reported by Spotboye.

This comment has obviously not gone down well with the netizens, who have slammed the actor left, right and center for his derogatory remarks towards women, as claimed. While many fans expressed their disappointment owing to this distasteful statement, others accused him of objectifying women. One user wrote, “Dear Akshay Kumar You have to say sorry to all Women and Take back your words,” while another tweeted, “Sexist remark and body shaming about thin actresses? Any protest?” A couple of netizens expressed their disappointment by writing, “You’re disgusting, Akshay,” “Pathetic”.

Though this is not the first time, Akshay has faced flak on social media as he has often been mired in controversies, in recent times. From the issue around his Canadian citizenship to his metro ride, and now this old sexist comment, the actor has faced fury for all.

In a recent development, the new song ‘Ek Chumma’ from Akshay’s upcoming movie Housefull 4 has sparked an argument, for its sexist remarks as claimed. However, the film’s leading actress Kriti Sanon defended the film and the song stating that there is nothing regressive about the movie or song, and if the song would be disrespectful towards women in any manner, she would definitely speak up.

Meanwhile, Akki is gearing up for his reincarnation comedy, which stars an ensemble cast featuring  Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Riteish Deshmukh. Housefull 4 was supposed to be directed by Sajid Khan, who had also directed the first two installments but was replaced by Farhad Samji due to Me Too allegations. Reacting to the same, Sajid plans to sue the film over direction credits as well.

The comedy-drama is themed around the lives of three pairs of reincarnated lovers, who reunite in the present day. It is slated to release on 26 October 2019.

The fact that people don’t understand that they’re being manipulated by an algorithm and the few people who know how to manipulate one makes me laugh! Sajid is going to take legal action so he wants to swing the court of public opinion by making Akshay look less righteous.
