It's World Radio Day and here are some TV celebrities who had their fair share of 'RJ-ing' before stepping into the industry...

Radio has played a big role in the entertainment and media industry. It was the first means of mass media although it lost its value with time. Although, radio stations are still going strong.
Here are some of the Television Industry celebrities who were RJs before they stepped into the industry:
Maniesh Paul
Maniesh Paul, who is one of the most renowned names of the television industry right now, started out his career as an RJ at Mumbai Radio City with his successful show ‘Kasakai Mumbai’. The RJ then tried out his career as a comedian and actor. he has appeared in movies like Tees Maar Khan and Mickey Virus. Paul gained recognition after hosting a television show, India's Got Talent, Comedy Circus. He is currently working as an anchor and also has his own show.
Smriti Kalra started out her career as an RJ. Later, she played the lead role in ‘Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the year' and appeared on shows like Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara, Karol Bagh, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.
Recognized as an actor, Mantra is also a director, producer, theatre actor, television presenter and a model who began as an RJ. He is currently a TV show host. He has been working in India's Got Talent since 2009. After his movie career, the actor went back to being an RJ.
Malishka Mendonsa
Malishka Mendonsa popularly known as RJ Malishka is one of the most popular RJs today. Her show ‘Morning with Malishka’ is a great success in Red FM. She has been on air for more than 10 years. She is said to be by far the most liked and most feared jockey in the country. She has tried acting and also trained Vidya Balan for the movie 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai'.
Neil Bhoopalam is an Indian television, stage, and film actor. He is known for his roles in No One Killed Jessica, Shaitan, NH10, Lust Stories, and the Indian TV series 24. Neil has worked as a Radio Jockey for 'Radio Mirchi' where he hosted weekly shows: 'College Se Canteen Tak', 'Baat Banjaye' and also the Sunday morning show.
Nikhil Chinapa who is currently a VJ started out as an RJ. He made his debut in the film ‘Shaitan’ through the character of Inspector Sandeep. Subsequent to his collaboration with MTV, he has been changing the face of EDM in India. The RJ has appeared in Splitsvilla and India's got talent.
