Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol are two Bollywood superstars whose comebacks will be written in history books. In 2023, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 made Rs 600 crores at the box office. Fans flocked to the theatres to see the sequel of the 2001 blockbuster proving that Sunny Deol can do magic with the right film. Guddu Dhanoa who is the cousin of Sunny and Bobby Deol told us that they can collaborate for a movie in the near future. However, he feels more than planning, a ‘great film’ happens when stars are destined for it.
He told India Forums, “We can work together any time. But I believe that every film comes with its own Kundali. Things like when it will be planned or released are in the hands of God. We can only execute what the Almighty wants for it. Sunny and Bobby are my favourites. They are my cousins, we are family.”

He also told us that before Gadar 2, he was actively discussing a movie with Sunny Deol. “We had a discussion, he truly loved my subject and pitched the same to producers. However, my story was set in India, and needed Indian locations. He called up Vashu Bhagnani who said that he only shoots in London, and cannot film a movie in India. Our script did not warrant foreign locations,” says Guddu Dhanoa.
Gushing about Sunny Deol, Guddu Dhanoa said, “He is a fantastic actor. No actor can portray emotions as powerfully as Sunny. He’s the best. If you see Salaankhen, the court scenes, his work in Ziddi, you will understand.”

Talking about the decline of masala films in Bollywood, he said, “See, South is making what we would make in the 90s. Today, we do not have any family drama in films. You do not see characters like father, mother, son or brother. If we take successful Bollywood movies like Trishul, Deewar, Ziddi, Ghatak or Ghayal, they all had strong emotional family bonds,” said Dhanoa. He agreed that modern filmmakers whose world is limited only from Bandra to Juhu are to be blamed. “They are definitely not Pan-India in their thought,” Dhanoa said assertively.
