Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is deeply engrossed in research for his upcoming movie, The Delhi Files. Recently, Agnihotri shared some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from his visit to the India-Bangladesh border. He is well-known for his thorough approach, and his current project is no exception. By sharing these glimpses of his work, Agnihotri offered fans a sneak peek into the extensive research he’s conducting to capture the essence of the story.
As part of his research, Agnihotri visited the India-Bangladesh border to gather authentic insights. His focus was on the people living on the Indian side of the border, observing the socio-political challenges they face. In a social media post, he said, “Six months ago, we were interviewing people on the Indian side of the Indian-Bangladesh Border for the research of my next film #TheDelhiFiles. I found these villagers were more aware of Bangladesh politics than Indian. They knew that a revolt was going to take place against Haseena.”

He further added, "On this border, it’s almost impossible to determine who is Indian and who isn’t. All the motifs of Hindu culture are slowly diminishing. Looks like there still exist ‘Two Indias’ within India. That’s what ‘forced demography change’ does to a region: Two nations. Two constitutions. West Bengal is very vulnerable, and the current government exploits ‘demography change’ to their advantage by making vote banks out of them. One reason why she was so against CAA & NRC. Political violence has become the main money-making industry of Bengal.”
Agnihotri’s post garnered significant attention, with fans praising his commitment to portraying complex historical issues. His attention to detail and in-depth research has always been a key aspect of his filmmaking, as was seen in his earlier work.
His journey of research for The Delhi Files started in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown. Since then, Agnihotri has traveled across India, from Kerala to Kolkata and Delhi, gathering valuable information. His dedication includes reading over 100 books, 200 articles, and thousands of research pages.
Following the massive success of The Kashmir Files, Agnihotri once again teams up with producer Abhishek Agarwal for The Delhi Files. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how this new project unfolds.
