Vidya Balan reveals how her dad was disheartened when she did not get nominated for Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Vidya Balan is back as Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Her comeback is one of the main reasons for the positive hype around the movie. The actress did a stellar job in the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa movie directed by Priyadarshan. We know that Vidya Balan is one of the few Indian actresses to bag awards in consecutive years for her performances. She was first-rate in Bhool Bhulaiyaa too. In fact, her act as she performed on the track Mere Dholna Sun is in itself considered award worthy. Vidya Balan did not get nominated for the Best Actress Award that year. Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were some of the nominated ladies of the year. 

Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the 2007 film was the remake of Manichitrathazu. Vidya Balan said her father P Balan was very upset seeing that his daughter did not get nominated despite her excellent histrionics. It seems she missed out as BhoolBhulaiyaa was not an original story. In a recent interview, Vidya Balan said, “"At that time, I was told that it was a remake of a Malayalam film so my performance wasn't eligible for a nomination. So I said, ‘Okay, fine.’ But I remember my father felt very bad. You move on. Kabhi hota hai, kabhi nahi hota (it happens sometimes, sometimes it doesn't), but your parents, and your family feel bad.” The actress said he would repeatedly say that Vidya deserved the awards over others. Vidya Balan said that someone else would have won as their work as more loved than hers. 

Well, the coming years were excellent for Vidya Balan. From Paa in 2010 to Kahaani in 2013, she swept all the Best Actress awards. Her filmography is one of the best in all the 2000s actresses. Whether it is her role as Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture or Vidya Bagchi in Sujoy Ghosh’s unforgettable Kahaani, Vidya proved she was an ace performer. The actress said she feels blessed to get so many awards.  She said, “"I feel that I'm very blessed. I've always focused on my work, not on the result. And I've been adequately rewarded, actually more than I imagined. So I'm very grateful always.” 

The actress in fact told everyone disappointed that they should move on from Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Fans are loving the chemistry of Kartik Aaryan and her in the promotional clips.
