Vidya Balan gets nostalgic as her film ’Kahaani’ clocks in 10 years

On the tenth anniversary of the release of Vidya Balan's film 'Kahaani,' the actress reflected on the film that was a game changer for Hindi cinema, paving the way for strong female roles. 

In a statement, Vidya recalled the film's schedule, saying, 

‘Kahaani' is and will continue to be one of my favourite films.“Every day of that shoot is still fresh in my mind. It felt as if our life relied on it, and we gave it everything we had. It has, in turn, provided us with a great deal over the years and continues to do so." 

'Kahaani' drew the audience in right away with its strong and dramatic image of a pregnant female protagonist performed by Vidya. Sujoy Ghosh's fascinating and intriguing thriller was boosted by Vidya Balan's outstanding performance, which culminated in an unexpectedly stunning finale twist, making it one of Indian cinema's most celebrated films for female actresses. The actress applauded her director for resurrecting the thriller genre with his story in the film, which was followed by 'Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh,' which was released in 2016. 

Vidya continued,

"Sujoy Ghosh's 'Kahaani' not only delivered an intriguing thriller after a long period, but also resurrected the genre in India. Since the premiere of Kahaani ten years ago, the concept of an Indian film heroine has been reinvented, and I believe Kahaani has played a significant role in this ".

Currently, the actress is preparing for yet another riveting role in 'Jalsa,' with Shefali Shah, another great talent. After 'Shakuntala Devi' and 'Sherni,' this will be Vidya's third collaboration with Prime Video.
