Student of the Year

On this day ten years ago, Varun Dhawan was introduced to Bollywood by filmmaker Karan Johar in his directorial Student Of The Year. The film’s opening weekend collection was Rs 30 cr and it ended its run in the theaters in 2012 with Rs 70 cr in its kitty.

Badlapur

Varun was praised for his perfromance in Badlapur from all quters. He portrayed a grieving father and husband who sought vengeance on the killer of his kid and wife. Varun's decision to take on a fatherly dark role at the beginning of his career was a risk, but he succeeded in Badlapur and competed fiercely on screen with Nawazuddin.

Judwaa 2

Varun stepped into the shoes of Salman Khan as he starred in the reboot of 1997 film directed by his father David Dhawan. The film was largely liked by the audience for its innocent humour and Varun’s spectacular act.

Dhawan threads the film’s delicate tone quite masterfully.Varun Dhawan plays Dan as if caring were new to him. It is an emotionally wrenched character, one who loses his appetite without realising it.  The film received immense critical acclaim but was a modest commercial success at the box office and also Varun’s matured act earned him a Best Actor (Critics) nomination at the Filmfare Awards.

JugJugg Jeeyo

Varun's most recent film, became one of the largest and most crucial hits following the pandemic, giving the film industry some relief, which had been crippled by the lockdown.Varun demonstrated his acting chops while starring alongside seasoned actors like Anil and Neetu, and the movie succeeded not only because of the screenplay but also because of the actor's flawless performance.

The actor is currently gearing up for his upcoming film Bhediya alongside Kriti Sanon. The film is a creature comedy and is all set to release on 25th November 2022.
