Vahbiz Dorabjee opens up about acting in a web-series

Vahbiz Dorabjee has given stellar performances in shows such as Bahu Hamari Rajnikant and Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. The actress is said to be making her highly anticipated comeback to television screens with Star Plus’s Deewaniyat. Vahbiz shares her thoughts on acting in a web series and the excessive use of bold scenes in many shows on the medium

Talking about the intense acting web shows require, Vahbiz reveals if she is keen on portraying such de-glam roles, “Absolutely.  I’m an actor, and my focus is on acting. I consider myself a director’s actor—I'm adaptable to the team's vision. I’ve portrayed many de-glam roles, like in my last web show Kashmakash, where I played the role of a simple housewife. Yes, web shows tend to feature more intense and realistic acting.”

Vahbiz also adds that is completely fine with acting without makeup, “As an actor, you're here to fit into the role. My mindset is completely open, and in most of my projects, they tend to use minimal makeup on me anyway.  It’s totally fine with me."

Many web shows contain a lot of bold scenes, ask her if she is comfortable with such scenes, she says, “I have done a few bold scenes myself, but I was only open to them if they were essential to the script. However, I sometimes feel that the level of nudity is excessive and often unnecessary. That’s something I'm not comfortable with."

She adds that often these scenes serve no purpose, “They expect you to be intimate with both women and men, and I honestly don't think it's necessary. I really don't understand what they’re trying to prove by adding these scenes. To each their own, but personally, I'm not comfortable with it."

Ask her if bold scenes could be a way to ‘sell’ the shows, and she responds, “Maybe they're doing it as a selling point because I've watched many shows, and I don’t understand why such scenes are even included. They could be shot in a more aesthetic way, but I also don’t get this new trend of having so many bold scenes in web shows," she ends.
