If your summer break looks anything like ours, you'll relate to the amount of TV viewing time you're left with. And, if you're anywhere near a TV show addict, you have probably exhausted the episodes of your favorite shows way too quickly. Fortunately for you, we know just what you can binge watch on! When you're out of options, it's time to go looking for new shows from across borders.

*Disclaimer: The shows mentioned aren't going to be similar due to the cross-cultural set-up. We at India Forums aren't attempting a comparison or contrast. This is strictly about watching shows with common elements we all love!

We'll tell you what to watch according to the shows you've loved on TV! Ranging from family dramas to chick flicks, here's a definitive list of suggestions-

If you like- Sanjivani and Dill Mill Gayye

Sanjivani and the proceeding Dil Mil Gaye became quite a cult when they first hit TV screens (remember Karan Singh Grover's burst of popularity?). It revolved around all the drama that unfolds when you put a bunch of passionate doctors in the same setting. The doctors battle their way in a prestigious hospital, fall in love, stand by their friends and deal with a whole lot of drama!

You Should Watch- Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs

The hospital drama theme finds its perfect equivalent in Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs. While the first is a serious dialogue with life and death situations, the latter is light-hearted, slice-of-life comedy! These TV shows are sub-genres you would totally enjoy!

Why you should watch it-
Hospital dramas can be very entertaining and the Indian TV shows explore a limited dimension, expanding on it will land you something more interesting. The shows bring out two different flavors of the same setting. They give detailed insights on the pain, complexities to the laugh-out-loud moments that are bound to find their way into these medical warriors' lives. You surely will love a change of sub-genres in TV shows that go beyond just romance and daily nuances of its characters.

If you like- Naagin and Pyaar Kii Ek Kahaani

Back when Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani came out we couldn't help but do a double-take and draw parallels with Hollywood shows. For the fans, Sukirti Kandpal and Vivian Dsena became the poster faces for bringing supernatural love stories to Indian TV. At the same time, Naagin with Mouni Roy in the lead pushed the envelope further and brings a whole lot of VFX usage to the screen.

You should watch- Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf

Vampire Diaries is a supernatural romance as a human girl gets entangled in a web of vampires and werewolves. The tale is intriguing and has enough twists and turns to keep you fascinated. Teen Wolf too has a young adult reach and quite the drastic transformations. Both shows are just as dark and seductive as you expect them to be.

Why you should watch it-
If you've watched Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahani you already know a lot of the show was drawn from Vampire romances that were going around not too long ago. So, why not watch the original? We do not promise direct parallels but the love triangle we enjoy so much is still intact. Teen Wolf is another show to try out. Let's face it, we love a good shape-shifter and a brooding, devilishly handsome protagonist. Teen Wolf fits the bill perfectly. The show revolves around a teenage boy adapting to his new life as a werewolf as he juggles with school life.

If you liked- V Best Friends Forever? and Million Dollar Girl

Now, these are THE chick flicks girls were watching back in the day. Being quintessential girly shows they had a huge fan following as Channel V came up with relevant content for the youth. V Best Friends Forever? was a drama fueled show on girl friendships while Million Dollar Girl was about a protagonist who dreamed of getting out in the big glamorous world.

You should watch- 2 Broke Girls and Gossip Girl

2 Broke Girls is a delightfully funny show about two waitresses who are beautiful, talented, ambitious...broke! It has some amazing moments of sisterhood and the wittiest plot lines. Gossip Girl, on the other hand, is about NY's elite circles. This one is all about headline-making gossip from the glamorous Upper East Side.

Why you should watch it-
2 Broke Girls has such a link with Million Dollar girl, what with the big dreams and low budget? Watch the show to feed your broke-girl phase something even better. Gossip Girl if for those of you who wish V Best Friends Forever could be so much more than a school drama. It has romance, mean revenge ploys, drool worthy fashion and of course, gossip-worthy happenings! Also, it helps that the friends are turning against each other at the drop of the dime.

If you liked- Family No.1

We all remember the sparring between the two families living in a shared home. From across a carefully drawn line, the Potias and the Malhotras went through some seriously adorable rifts and conflicts. We loved watching the children make the most of the chaos and get into major face-offs from time to time. This show had a funny, unconventional family before it was cool.

You should watch- Modern Family
Modern Family has been one of the most popular family dramas. The situational comedy circles around three dysfunctional families. While a  lot of shows over do comedy in the family and home settings, Modern Family does it with humor so real, it's relevant! It is a delightfully funny sitcom that sits well within its genre.

Why you should watch it-
Mostly because of the hype! Go find out what the popularity is all about. If you enjoyed family No.1, the daily bickering between Kanwaljit Singh and Tanvi Azmi and the many clashes between their children you will love Modern Family. They get confusing families right! You've got to see the laugh-out-loud moments as well as those that make your eyes well up a little.

What do you think? How many of these shows are you trying out?

I wanted to like Banshee, but didn't warm to the protagonist, as I found him to be a bit like a stroppy teenager. Game of Thrones, now that's a great show. Luscious production values, and a well written story that isn't easy predict.
