Your memorable Republic day in childhood.... anything in school or in your locality you have done.... something you want to share on the parade...
RaQesh Vashisth - Each Republic day we had school parade. Each house had to present their special skills.. since I was the captain of my house I mostly use to lead the parade. I was also in the school band.I still remember the pride playing the national anthem on the flute. That used to be a very motivating moment when whole class used to hear my flute with silence.
Piyush Sahdev - I guess as a kid I never understood the importance of patriotism or had any such thoughts except on 26th January and 15th August, when I would notice a lot of action all around me, Since I grew up in Delhi, 26th January parade was the highlight of the year for me, Indian air force would start rehearsing many days in advance for the parade, we would have lots of helicopters and jets circling the Delhi sky's, they would sometimes drop papers with Jai hind written on them, which I would run with my friends to collect, we would mostly watch the parade on TV but one year my dad and mom took me to watch the parade, I was too tiny and everything was too colorful and overwhelming and big around me, I was awestruck to see the glimpses of different states and soldiers of different states marching in rhythm, that scene is still clear in my mind as a beautiful memory!
Tina Dutta - We used to sing song and do parade and it used to be combined with sports day competition. In the locality
they used to have drawing competition and I always used to come second or third
and beg the prize.
Samiksha Bhatnagar - 26th January is a day on which every Indian heart fills up
with patriotic fervor and immense love for motherland. There are many
significant memories because like most of us, I always used to watch
republic day parade on the television with my entire family and used to ask my
father each time to take me to the parade and he used to say you need to be
there at rajpath by 6 am in
Delhi chilling cold and Fog and promises to take us next year. The event
begins with the Prime Minister of India laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti
at India Gate, commemorating all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for
the country. Soon, a 21 gun salute is presented, the President unfurls
the National Flag and the National Anthem is played. This marks
the beginning of the parade. Then comes a skillful display of motor-cycle
rides, by the Armed Forces personnel. I heard, US has asked for a no-fly
zone over Rajpath on R-Day but India says no. Fly past is the most eagerly awaited part of
the parade, put on by the Indian Air Force. The fly past marks the conclusion
of the parade by showering rose petals on the audience in parade area and then
comes the fighter planes of the IAF roar past the dais, symbolically saluting
the President. I still remember, we used to run towards our terrace to see
the fighter planes roaming across the sky. Its going be more
special as US president Barack Obama will be with us on 66th Republic day of
India. "Each day , each hour , each minute and each
second makes me proud to be a part of a country called India and we are
the Indians."
Rishina Kandhari - My favorite part of the parade
is the cops on the bikes. That's the most exciting part. In childhood
I had attended all the flag hoisting in locality and around I loved the goody
box full of laddos and samosa be sandwiches given to all the
kids. Later I joined Leo clubs as a district Vice President 323G. And
did a lot if social work for different NGO's and use to distribute all the
needy stuff like blankets books stationery etc to them on 26th January.
Janvi Vora - Being the head girl of my school it was a treat
to be a part of this day and take responsibility with your principal and
teachers and lead Your School mates In The parade . In my society I still
do the flag hoisting arrangements and after the flag is hoisted sing one
National Anthem. A small tribute to our nation
Muskaan Mihani - In school I use to go and participate in all
the activities and specially on the Republic day I would go and sing our
national anthem since I was the monitor in the class and buy flags and keep all
flags with me I collected so many flags I am proud to b an Indian in our
building also we used get up early in the morning and go for flag
ceremony. It's a proud feeling
We wish our readers a very Happy Republic Day!
