There is no competition on the sets of Saathiya - Tanya Sharma

Tanya Sharma, has in a very less time, carved a niche for herself in the television industry with her portrayal of Meera. Meera is a character who has various shades - she can be her enemy's worst nightmare and at the same time is a girl who has simple dreams. She loves selflessly and hates with all her might. As complicated as Meera is, that sorted in life is Tanya. We caught up with the actress who chatted with us about anything and everything.  

This is your first season of Box Cricket League. How excited are you?

Initially I was not interested. We shoot for 12 hours straight. But now that I am in BCL, I find it to be a stress buster. Now cricket interests me. We practice almost everyday.

How did you get roped in for BCL? Why Lucknow Nawab?

I got an opportunity to play for Chennai initially. But at that time I wasn't interested and refused. But then the whole cast of Saath Nibhana Saathiya was a part of it. So that sparked my interest as well. At that time I was offered Lucknow Nawab and since it is a new team and so am I, I took it up.

Now that a majority of the cast is a part of BCL, is there any competitive mood on set?

Not at all. There is no competition on the sets of Saathiya. We all sit and pull each other's leg about what happened at this match and that match. Infact, when I was playing against Delhi Dragons, Firoza Di was cheering for me inspite of being a part of the Delhi team.

Your performance on-field is being appreciated a lot. Have you played cricket before?

I have never played cricket in my life. I was into running. I am an athlete. Trust me. I have never touched the bat and ball. All the cricket that I know now is due to practicing regularly. We started practicing from 20^th Jan. That is almost 2 months prior to the tournament. My only concern is that I do not want to get hit-wicket. I am ok if I am run out or bowled or caught.

How did you feel on winning the Woman of the match' title for the second time?

I got really emotional when I won that title. I am also the opening batswoman amongst the other girls for my team. So there is a certain kind of pressure on me. During the challenge over, we had set a target of 15 runs and we choose Hiten Tejwani as our bowler. I must say it was his day that day. He played fabulously. I hit a six at his first ball but then maybe it was not my day and I got out. We also lost the challenge over.

How do you manage your shoots as well as practice sessions?

Karna padta hai yaar. And to top it all, I have my board exams coming up too. But as I said, it has now become a stress buster. We enjoy our practice sessions. Plus there is a bond that has been formed amongst us now. So it is fun and play both happening together which does not make it hectic at all. It is just that when we lose the match, we feel bad. Obviously anyone will. We give our khoon-pasina to the tournament and if we lose we obviously feel bad.

When is your next match?

It is on the 8^th of April against Pune Anmol Ratan.

Best Bowler: Rohit Purohit, our captain. Actually my 'It's Complicated' co-star Mayank Kumar is a fantastic bowler. But as per BCL rules, a player should complete 100 episodes in his/her show and he has not fulfilled that criteria. So he could not be a part of the team.  

Strongest Competitor: Delhi Dragons because their individual players are very very strong.

Best female player: Firoza Khan for her bowling.

Weakest Team: Kolkatta Baabu Moshayes and Rowdy Banglore
