2017 saw quite the radical change on Indian Television in terms of content. While the typical stereotyping shows continued to exist, newer and better ones also saw the light of the day.

With hope that the lineup of shows for 2018 also keeps up with the demand of differed content, we list down shows that have been announced and scheduled for this year.

Prithvi Vallabh

After Porus, Sony TV presents yet another magnum opus based on the life of the noble and just king of Avantipur Prithvi Vallabh (Ashish Sharma). He is defeated by the neighbouring king Tailap (Jitin Gulati) and his beautiful sister Mrinalvati (Sonarika Bhadoria) and is held captive. But Prithvi ends up falling for Mrinalvati, following which the show will focus on the incidents preceding Prithvi's imprisonment.

Aapke Aa Jaane Se

Zee TV brings to its audience this time, a love story titled Aapke Aa Jaane Se, whose crux revolves around the love story of a 42-year-old woman (Suhasi Dhami) and a 24-year-old boy (Karan Jotwani), breaking all norms in the society of an older woman falling in love with a younger man and how their love prevails, amidst the pressures of a judgemental society.

Subhan Allah

Following the trend of 2017's fresh content', Zee TV's next venture Subhan Allah, starring Eisha Singh, will focus on the sensitive topic of Triple Talaq. Ironically, Eisha Singh made her television debut with a taboo related show Ishq Ka Rang Safed, where she played a widow who falls in love and gets re-married. The show was initially titled as Ishq Pakeezah, but was later renamed to Subhan Allah.

The King's Daughter

Loosely based on HBO's blockbuster series, Game of Thrones, Star Plus' next show titled The King's Daughter, has actors Harshad Arora, Vaani Sood and Neha Solanki in the lead roles along with an ensemble cast which consists of big names like Shakti Anand, Ankit Gupta, Mamik Singh, Gracy Goswami, Mouli Ganguly among others.

Belan Wali Bahu

After her stint in the supernatural thriller Brahmarakshas, Krystle Dsouza will be seen in Colors' light hearted comedy show Belan Wali Bahu alongside noted writer and producer Dheeraj Sarna. The show, which is a light hearted comic take on kitchen politics is also said to have light supernatural presence as well.

Bepannaah

Bepannaah is definitely one of Colors' most awaited shows, courtesy their leading lady Jennifer Winget. Winget, who created a storm in the industry with her stint as the psychotic Maya in Beyhadh, will be seen in an out and out romantic role as Zoya in Bepannah. Said to be loosely inspired from Bollywood cult classic Kati Patang, Bepannah also stars Sehban Azim and Harshad Chopra in lead roles.

Naagin 3

Ekta Kapoor announced Naagin 3, thus completing her trilogy of the Naagin series. However, the producer shocked one and all when she announced that her season 1 and 2 naagins Mouni Roy and Adaa Khan will not be a part of the third season. And now, names like Surbhi Jyoti, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Anita Hassanandani are cropping up as Ekta's new naagins.

21 Sarfarosh Saragarhi 1897

This Discovery Jeet show will serve as Mohit Raina's comeback vehicle to television. The show is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army, stationed at the North-West Frontier Province (modern day Pakistan) were attacked by 10,000 Afghan tribesmen, but stood their ground and decided to fight till their last breath. The whole battle was spearheaded by Havildar Ishar Singh.

Well, that's quite a fascinating list of shows and looks like, 2018 will definitely bring in shows that are engrossing, content driven and high on creativity and quality.
